RMT: Defense based Favorites

I'm trying to go for a mix between strong defense and offense. I'm not really looking for a rating, but would rather have suggestions on improvements, both for the moveset and the Pokemon themselves. I was aiming for having a team that outlives the opponent, which is probably why I have substitute so much. Overall I think the team is a mess, but it's my first shot at shoddy so I'm not too upset over it lol. The RMT rules say to put a (?) by anything I'm not sure about, can I just (?) everything ? Along with advice on what to change I would appreciate why whatever is changing currently doesn't work if it isn't too much trouble for you. Thanks in advance for any help.

Snorlax @ leftovers (wall)
EV's: HP 14/Def 248/Spc. Def 248
Hidden Power: Dark
Nature: Bold
Ability: Immunity
Item: Leftovers
Moveset
-Body Slam
-Rest
-Substitute
-Toxic
Crunch over Substitute, Sleep Talk or Curse over Toxic. Careful Nature.

Alakazam @ Life Orb (sweeper)
EV's: HP 6/Speed 252/Spc. Atk 252
Hidden Power: Dark
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Inner Focus
Moveset
-Calm Mind
-Energy Ball
-Psychic
-Recover
If you're sticking with two attacks, Focus Blast pairs with Psychic far better than Energy Ball does. Recover doesn't really achieve much on something as frail as Alakazam, replace it with Grass Knot or Hidden Power Fire. Timid nature.

Venusaur @ Leftovers (wall/attack)
EV's: HP 6/Spc. Atk 252/Spc. Def 252
Hidden Power: Dark
Nature: Lonely
Ability: Overgrow
Moveset
-Endure
-Giga Drain
-Grassknot
-Substitute
Sleep Powder over Giga Drain, Leech Seed over Endure, Sludge Bomb over Substitute. Bold or Calm Nature, 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe for EVs.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers (wall/attack)
EV's: HP 6/Atk 252/Def 252
Hidden Power: Dark
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Sandstream
Moveset
-Body Slam
-Double Edge
-Giga Impact
-Stealth Rock
Impish nature, 252 HP and Def, 4 Atk. Replace Giga Impact with Slack Off, Body Slam with Earthquake and Double Edge with Ice Fang / Roar. Hippowdon should be focused on walling rather than dealing damage, there's better options for attackers.

Gyarados @ Leftovers (sweeper)
EV's: Hp 6/Speed 252/Spc Atk 252
Hidden Power: Dark
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Intimidate
Moveset
-Aqua Tail
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Pulse
-Substitute
Taunt over Substitute, Waterfall / Ice Fang over Aqua Tail. Dragon Pulse is a waste of time given Dragon Dance's Attack boosting effect and Gyarados' Excellent Attack but terrible Special Attack stats, replace it with Earthquake or Stone Edge. Adamant nature, 212HP / 16 Atk / 180 Def / 100 Spe

Umbreon @ Leftovers
EV's: HP 6/Speed 252/Spc. Atk 252
Hidden Power: Dark
Ability: Synchronize
Moveset
-Double Edge
-Pursuit
-Shadow Ball
-Yawn
Umbreon makes a terrible attacker, if you really want to use it, run Mean Look, Wish, Baton Pass and Taunt / Toxic / Charm / Yawn.

For the team as a whole, you don't really have enough offence. All of your main offensive threats rely on stat upping to become effective. I'd recommend looking at the analysis page and making some changes based on what's there.
If you want to stick with the 6 pokemon you have now, the best options would probably be Curselax, Choice Specs / Trick Alakazam, Bulky Gyarados, Leech Seed stalling Venusaur, Trap Passing Umbreon and a physical wall Hippowdon.

Remove all the Subs man, it's not a Baton Pass team.

What I think you have going for you best here is statusing (Snorlax Body Slam, Venusaur Sleep Powder) and Sandstorm+Stealth Rock. As Umbreon isn't going to do much, let's slap a Spiritomb over here, probably a Calm Mind one, who can be offensive and defensive this way, and blocks Rapid Spin for you.

Now with the team as Snorlax Venusaur Gyarados Alakazam Hippowdon Spiritomb, we will see a slight Mamoswine and Weavile weak. The best thing to go IMO would be Alakazam. You can further more add onto the stalling part with like Skarmory, or make it more offensive and try like Swampert over Hippowdon, which would serve the same purpose, and then Tyranitar there, for a huge phsyical threat.

I'm not really looking for a rating, but would rather have suggestions on improvements, both for the moveset and the Pokemon themselves.

In that case, I think your best option is to have a look through the analysis here: http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/. There you'll find a list of competitive movesets and EV spreads which you can tailor to your team.

Your Venusaur currently has 252 SpA/252 SpD and your Hippowdon has 252 Atk/252 Def. As a rule of thumb, it's generally best to invest most of the EVs into HP before you attempt to boost up a defensive stat. This way you'll be left with more overall durability.

Your abilities and natures could do with a second look too. Immunity on a Rest Snorlax? Lonely Venusaur? The analysis should have you covered there too.

The RMT rules say to put a (?) by anything I'm not sure about

Ooops, you should have read Rule 3 too!

RMT Rules said:
3. Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you're having trouble with this one, start by give an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice.

This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it.

Gonna have to lock this down for violation of that rule, but feel free to post again after reading the analysis. They should be a great help!
