I haven't played in a while, and I'm kinda getting back into Shoddy now since my exams are over and I haven't really got much work to do. Before I stopped playing I made this team, but I kept quiet about it. It worked really well for me, I won more with this than I lost. Now I'm back I really want to see if I can make it better. So here it is.

Dusknoir @ Life Orb
252HP, 252ATK, 6DEF
Brave Nature

-Trick Room
-Shadow Sneak
-Pursuit
-Thunderpunch/Taunt/Counter/ anything.

Not really a usual lead, but he works for me. Trick Room to give my slow team an advantage. Shadow sneak from this OHKO's Gengars and Alakazams, however I doubt they'd stay in with this thing out, so I have pursuit as well to catch them off guard. Somebody did lead with an Alakazam once, and I predicted they would switch (which they didn't) and Used pursuit. It did 93% damage, which is pretty nice. With Rocks out that thing won't be coming back in alive. Thunderpunch was there mainly for Gyarados leads, which I then realised they had intimidate which kinda sucked, but it still is useful. I did use taunt as well to stop Gyara setting up so I could then switch into Porygon2 and wreak havoc. But the last slot can be filled by anything. Dusknoir has alot of moves at hand. Counter can get suprise KO's on things, there is also Disable which can screw a few things over. Earthquake, more elemental punches, Rest to keep him alive for longer, Toxic and Will O Wisp. I really can't decide.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
252HP, 68DEF, 190SPD
Sassy Nature
Trace

-Trick Room
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Recover

An Awesome Gyarados and Mence counter. Can come in on them, Trace intimidate then take a weakened move and KO back with Ice Beam or Thunderbolt. The EV's on this set are meant to be able to take any attack from Mixmence (I think, If anyone does actually know please tell) Secondary Trick room, which is good as it makes Porygon2 faster, so he can recover very quickly. Also can screw over alot of things, Like Heatran because he can trace Flash fire. Somebody also told me that this set is able to survive an Outrage from Garchomp, although I haven't risked it.

Mod Edit: the color here was eye hurting, so I made it black.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Brave Nature
252HP, 236DEF, 26ATK

-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
-Ice Shard
-Earthquake

My Physical wall, which can also bite back pretty hard. The EV's and nature gives him 310 attack and 334 defence. Other than that, He's got the standard Moveset. Stealth Rock support is always good, and rapid spin can clear the rocks so Mamoswine can get in with minimal damage, as he will be switching in and out alot. STAB Earthquake coming of this pretty decent attack is great, Ice Shard does alot of Damge to Mence and Chomp, If not OHKOing them.

Slowking @ Leftovers
252HP, 18DEF, 56SPA, 184SPD
Sassy Nature

-Trick Room
-Calm Mind
-Slack Off
-Surf

Special wall, which can also pack a punch after a few calm minds. It's also my third Trick Room set up. Using Trick Room + Slack Off gives me a quick heal, Plus calm minding while doing so can make it take minimal damage. When they switch to a physical attacker because they cant touch it with special attacks, I can sweep with surf. Although, It's essential to keep trick room going. Setting up too much is a problem sometimes, I kept calm minding while I was in range of OHKOing the pokemon which was out, But I got too greedy. Then this guy switched to a physical attacker the moment trick room wore out...

Tangrowth @ Choice Specs
252HP, 252SPA, 6DEF
Quiet Nature

-Energy Ball
-Leaf Storm
-Focus Blast/AncientPower
-Hidden power [Fire]

This guy is a beast and so easy to get into play. Leaf Storm (Base power 170 with STAB), Coming off of 523 Special Attack does absolutely tons of damage to most things, Even things which resist it will end up on Low health. The Only things that wont take that much damage are pokemon which 4x resist grass, Like salamence and Fortress etc. Blissey also won't take that much damage from it (Although she will take more than most special attackers), but she's just cheap and fat. Focus Blast was on this set just for type coverage, but I never came about to use it that often. Now thinking about it, Tangrowth learns ancientpower, which will come in useful against flying types, Especially Bug/Flying times like Yangmega. Hidden Power fire takes out other Grasses, and Steels, Especially Foretress which the rest of my team has trouble taking down. Tangrowth is good at coming in on Garchomp/Tyranitar, then OHKOing back. Oh yes, I do remember now Focus Blast was for Tyranitar, but Leaf storm OHKO'd it anyway. Energy Ball is just for killing stuff which leaf storm would be unnecessary for.

dpmfa473.png

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Brave Nature
252ATK, 252HP, 6DEF

-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
-Ice Shard
-Rock slide

Works well in Trick Room, works well without. My late Game sweeper and Blissey counter as he can come in and absorb T-wave. Ice Shard is standard for just clearing up pokemon who are on low hp. I prefer Rock slide over Stone Edge because of Accuracy.

So this is my team, I would be greatful if anyone had any advice.
Thankyou for your time.

Hmm, it's fairly stable to me. You do lack an anti-taunter though. All of your slow guys get pwnt by taunt because then you cannot set up the tricks and are slow.

You're rather bolt-beam weak. Only dusky and porygon take neutral from them. You also are fairly weak to hitting blissey. Also, burn seems to rape your team with no status absorber.

Overall, it's fairly good.

Well, You seem to have put me in a situation now. It's either go for Taunt Or Rest on Dusknoir. Or I could give Dusknoir Taunt and then slap Rest on Tangrowth for status absorbing.

Mamo is my Blissey counter, and I do play this team by slowly Eliminating other team members until Blissey is the last one standing. The best way to go is to switch Mamoswine in on thunder wave, then Use Ice fang for out-prediction as they'll switch in something Like Gliscour. Slowking can 2KO Blissey on 6 calm minds Woop. So really, I need to keep Slowking and Mamo alive.

Gah, What to do.

your Donphan Evs are a bit off (as in wasted); go with Relaxed Nature and 136 Atk / 112 Def (252 HP) and you'll have 8 EVs remaining.

So, question, how do you stop Gengar? BoltBeam Zapdos? Lead TyraniBoah with Ice Beam? Swords Dance Lucario running Crunch? Opposing Mamoswines? For a defensive team I think your overlooking some of the most common threats. I want to offer more constructive help but with sooo many things that give you trouble I dont know what to suggest off hand. Slowking as a Special Wall is suspect, Tangrowth and Donphan are both too niche of counters to BOTH be used in a team imo. I can see your attempt to go off the beaten path, but I just don't think you can hold up to the top powerhouses of OU very well.

I suppose my title is very misleading. I'm using defensive pokemon, but with offense. I think the title of this thread needs changing, lol...

To me, I don't specifically stop 1 pokemon with 1 pokemon, I use outprediction to get key players of my team in. If he's leading with a Gengar, Dusknoir's shadow sneak will OHKO him. If not, I could switch in Dusknoir on a focus blast and then Shadow sneak/Pursuit which both OHKO as I've said. The same with Boltbeam Zapdos but I'll get Mamoswine to get an Ice fang in there. Opposing Mamoswines can be taken out by Tangrowth's leaf storm, as this is a trick room team Tangrwoth will be faster, and I can KO it with Leaf storm. I doubt Ice Shard will OHKO Tangrwoth with his massive defence he's got.

If an Ice Beaming Tyraniboah's are too much of a problem, It's a job of getting trick room into play then possibly sacrificing one of my team to get Tangrowth in who OHKO's with Leaf storm. Actually, Tangrowth can take out a lot of stuff, Hidden Power fire will deal with Lucario.

There is also alot of things which factor in, As my sets aren't used much I do have the advantage with the element of suprise. I've seen countless of the same sets used on the majority of the teams used in competitive battles, and the metagame is finely adjusted to counter them. I've chosen pokemon with sets that may not have possibly been accounted for, which means that I have the upper hand.

As suspected, your set-up is susceptable to Taunters. Taunters include the likes of Tyranitar/Gyarados (Porygon2 bait but still)/Spiritomb/Heatran/Gliscor. Also I'm noting that you don't have any back-up offence incase your set up is unsuccessful (which will leave you with nothing more than some slow-ass Pokemon. Deoxys-E fares well against most Taunters listed about (apart from Spiritomb) and is the fastest thing you can get. It can Taunt to which may prove to be useful for you. Deoxys can also revenge kill the Mixape I see going through your team. Standard set should be fine :)

Deoxys-S @ Expert Belt/Life Orb
Hasty
160 Attack/252 Sp.Attack /96 Speed
-Psychic
-Superpower
-Ice Beam
-Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt

I'd go with Shadow Ball in this case to hurt stuff like Cress/Dusknoir. Also you have Gyarados pretty much covered with Porygon2 so it's all good. You can even go with Taunt on here if you want

Hope this helps, -GEC.

Deoxys on a Trick room team... Hmmm it seems like a great idea exept there's one minor Flaw...

It's the fastest pokemon in the game. That might prove to be a bit of a problem. I'm giving Dusknoir Taunt. It'll be a quick taunter in Trick Room. And with 3 trick roomers, I'm sure the set up will work. Only somebody who know my whole team and exactly how I'd use that would be able to stop that set up...

But thanks for your help anyway MJ.

you don't have any back-up offence incase your set up is unsuccessful

Deoxys on a Trick Room team is a good idea. As I said, all Trick Room teams need a back up plan incase Trick Room fails, which in this case, is Deoxys.

I do have a back up plan, Bulky sweepers. They can work without Trick
Room, but Trick room just gives them a boost which isn't 100% needed.

Deoxys can also revenge kill the Mixape I see going through your team.

Slowking Much?
