Hi everyone. This is my first RMT so let me know anything that needs to be fixed. Thanks a lot!
Desert Tribe
Team Overview
Aerodactyl Skarmory Heatran Hippowdon Gliscor Tyranitar
This team came about while messing around with the possibilities for the move Sandstorm while making my first Shoddy Battle team. Of course the first few matches I got wreaked but with many more tweaks and test battles latter I think it is ready for a RMT.
The strategy is, once again, based around Sandstorm. With the typing of the Pokemon I use none of the are hit my Sandstorm, two Pokemon have abilities to cause it, and one Pokemon has an ability to benefit from it. Originally it it was more aggressive but with Garchomp in Ubers I lost one of my main offensive threats. Now the team is a bit more stall oriented. Now on to some in depth about each team member.
Team Member Analysis
Aerodactyl (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
IV: All 31
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed / - Special Attack)
~ Taunt
~ Stealth Rock
~ Rock Slide
~ Earthquake
Aerodactyl is my lead Pokemon. Although made out of rock she can fly and is very fast. This speed is enhanced by 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature that is (+ Speed). Being that Aerodactyl does not have any special attacks (- Special Attack) is not a hindrance. With this speed she will hopefully be out speeding other leads who will most likely be trying to set up Stealth Rocks, Spikes, use Hypnosis, etc. If I predict that they will be such I will use Taunt. If I was correct in my prediction they will not be able to set up and she will still have all her health. If I was wrong and they attacked Aerodactyl will still have at least 1 HP left because of Focus Sash. Depending on how much HP she has left I will either use Stealth Rocks or, if I could pull off a one hit KO, I may use Rock Slide or Earthquake. Rock Slide is a good STAB move that can even make the opponent flinch and Earthquake is a good ground move that is also accurate. Both of these attacks are physical and are enhanced by 252 EVs in Attack. Overall Aerodactyl has been very helpful in my matches and has been a great lead.
Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Kean Eye
IVs: All 31
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Attack / 176 Defense / 16 Speed
Nature: Impish (+ Defense / - Special Attack)
~ Brave Bird
~ Roost
~ Spikes
~ Whirlwind
Skarmory is primarily used as a physical wall. It has leftovers for a nice constant recovery along with 252 EVs in HP, 176 EVs in Defense, and a Impish nature that raises Defense. Skarmory also has Roost to recovery HP. When a threat comes in Skarmory can use Whirlwind to switch it out into another Pokemon. This may also do some respectable damage to the Pokemon switching in if there is Stealth Rocks still set up from Aerodactyl and if Skarmory set up layers of Spikes. Skarmory can also take out threats when needed, especially grass type Pokemon. It has Brave Bird, a powerful STAB move with 64 EVs in Attack and 16 EVs in Speed. Depending on the match Skarmory can be a great physical wall or, unfortunately, not extremely useful. Skarmory is one of the weaker Pokemon on my team.
Heatran (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Attack / 31 Defense / 31 Speed / 30 Special Attack / 31 Special Defense
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Speed / 252 Special Attack
Nature: Naive (+ Speed, - Special Defense)
~ Fire Blast
~ Explosion
~ Earth Power
~ Hidden Power [Electric]
Heatran is my revenge killer and special attacker. When one of my Pokemon dies or it is a good opportunity to switch in Heatran can come finish up any dirty work left. Choice Scarf, Naive nature, and 252 Speed EVs let it out speed many Pokemon letting it attack first so it does not take any damage. Its attacks give it good power and type diversity. Although somewhat inaccurate Fire Blast is a great STAB move that can do a lot of damage especially if powered up by Flash Fire and 252 EVs in Special Attack. Earth Power is a ground type move for type diversification, as is Hidden Power [Electric]. Hidden Power [Electric] is for using on water type Pokemon which this team has problems with. Explosion is the last move, usually reserved for if Heatran is low on HP after, hopefully, a few switch ins. Heatran is a very reliable Pokemon who has great revenge killing and sweeping potential.
Hippowdon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
IVs: All 31
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Defense / 88 Special Defense
Nature: Impish (+ Defense / - Special Attack
~ Earthquake
~ Slack Off
~ Roar
~ Ice Fang
Hippowdon is like Skarmory but more defense oriented and slower. Leftovers let is recover HP every turn while 252 HP EVs give it a high HP. 168 EVs and Defense and 88 EVs in Special Defense protect it better from attacks. Impish nature also brings up her defense. Slack Off is very useful for recovering HP. Finally Roar can switch out any threats. Hopefully the incoming Pokemon will be hit by Stealth Rocks set up by Aerodactyl and Spikes set up by Skarmory. Hippowdon also has good offensive options. Earthquake is a great STAB move and Ice Fang gives her type diversionary. Normally when a Pokemon like Zapados switches in on Skarmory I will switch out to Hippowdon. Zapados' electric attack will do no damage and next turn I can surprise them with a super effective Ice Fang. Ice Fang is also good against dragons like Salamance that I do not have many options against. Lastly with Sand Stream, Hippowdon can set up a Sand Storm allowing for residual damage against the opponent every turn. A sandstorm is also helpful to my next Pokemon.
Gliscor (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
IVs: All 31
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Defense / 216 Speed
Nature: Impish (+ Defense / - Special Attack)
~ Earthquake
~ Aerial Ace
~ Roost
~ Stone Edge
Gliscor acts like a hybrid between Skarmory and Hippowdon. Leftovers, Sand Veil, 252 EVs in HP, 40 EVs in Defense, Impish nature, and Roost give it great defenses. It also has great typing to defend against many different types of attacks including electric type. It does however have a dual weakness to Ice. On the other hand it also has great attacking ability too. 216 EVs in Speed make it very fast. Gliscor also has three good attacking moves. Eartquake is a great STAB move, as it Aerial Ace. Stone Edge gives her more type coverage. Gliscor is a great Pokemon on the team and is very helpful in my matches.
Tyranitar (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
IVs: All 31
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Attack / 80 Speed
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack / - Special Attack)
~ Stone Edge
~ Pursuit
~ Crunch
~ Aqua Tail
Tyranitar is similar to Heatran, although I find Tyranitar more useful and Tyranitar is generally used more at the end of a match as a . While Heatran has a Choice Scarf for speed, Tyranitar has a Choice Band for attack. Tyranitar's Adamant nature also boosts attack, as does his 252 EVs in Attack. Stone Edge is a great STAB move, as is Crunch. Pursuit is useful if I predict a switch out on a physic type Pokemon. Aqua Tail gives Tyranitar more type coverage. 80 Speed EVs also will let it out speed some more threats, maybe getting a flinch when using Crunch. Tyranitar is also physically bulky. It has 176 EVs in HP and I believe a sandstorm, which will be cause by Tyranitar's Sand Stream, boosts defenses. Over all Tyranitar has been a great team member who has pulled me out of a lot of tight spots. He may be the best member on my team.

Threat List
Threats taken from
http://www.smogon.com/forums/announcement.php?f=52&a=29
Azelf: I normally see this as a lead. My Aerodactyl does a great job of taking it out. She will use Taunt to stop Stealth Rocks, set up Stealth Rocks herself, and then, hopefully, can then take out the Azelf before it uses Explosion. Tyranitar is also good for this as if I can switch into a Psychic or Fire Blast and use either Pursuit or Taunt. The sandstorm Tyranitar sets up will also stop and Focus Sash business. Not a thread
Breloom: Skarmory and Gliscor both have a flying type attack to use on Breloom. Flying type attacks from them are 4xs super effective and have a STAB. Heatran can also use a 2xs super effective STAB attack and Hippowdon can use Ice Fang. Lastly Aerodactyl can use Taunt to stop it from using Spore, Swords Dance, etc. Not a threat.
Celebi: Similar to Breloom. Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up Leech Seed, Thunder Wave, etc. Skarmory and Gliscor can use flying type attacks for great damage. Hippowdon can also use Ice Fang is needed. Tyranitar can use Crunch or Pursuit. Heatran can use Fire Blast. Not a threat.
Dugtrio: It is somewhat difficult to actually have a counter for him because of Arena Trap, but on the other hand he cannot do too much damage to my team. I would suppose my best option is Hippowdon with an Ice Fang. My flying types will not be affacted by his ground type moves. The only two that Dugtrio could be a threat to is Tyranitar and Heatran. Even so I find that Dugtrio is rarely used in OU so he is not a threat.
Electivire: The only really threatening this about Electivire is a possible Ice Punch so Heatran with a ground move would be the best option. As long as Skarmory is not in I feel that it is not a threat, although if Skarmory baits an electric type move I can always switch into a ground type and then into Heatran if I correctly predict an ice punch. Overall it is not a threat.
Empoleon: Empoleon is one of the bigger threats I encounter, although I do not encounter it very often. I suppose my best counter is Skarmory who is not weak to Empoleon and has good recovery against its attacks. If worst comes to worst I can Whirlwind it away.
Flygon: My best counter for Flygon is Hippowdon with Ice Fang. With 4xs damage it will hopefully go down quickly or switch into something else I can deal with more easily. Even through it may not be able to neccesarily be able to do major damage to me, I do not have very many reliable options against Flygon so I consider it a minor threat.
Gengar: Gengar is not much of a threat to me. Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up by using Taunt and Tyranitar can use Crunch or Pursuit for a STAB and super effective hit. Fire Blast from Heatran also works well. Not a threat.
Gliscor: My best counter against this is Ice Fang from Hippowdon. Aerodactyl can also stop it from setting up and it is not affected by ground type moves. However if it does have an Ice Fang it will do some major damage against Aerodactyl. It is also boosted by a sandstorm I may have set up. I consider it a minor threat.
Gyarados: I can stop a Dragon Dance with Aerodactyl's Taunt although Aerodactly would fall soon after that as her best option would be Rock Slide. Heatran, if switched in safely, could use Hidden Power [Electric] for a 4xs super effective attack. However I do have a lack of counters for water type Pokemon so I consider this a major thread.
Heatran: Heatran is easily beat by many Pokemon on the team. Any ground type attack will do great since it has 4xs super effective damage. My favorite Pokemon for the job is Gliscor because of a STAB earthquake and resistances to Fire Blast and Earthquake that Heatran would be running. Not a threat.
Heracross: Not much to say about him. I have some great flying and fire moves that help me take him down very easily. I would probably use Skarmory or Gliscor or Heatran with STAB flying and Fire attacks, respectivly. Fighting moves do pose a threat to Tyranitar, but unless it is the end of the game I should not have to bring him in. Not a threat.
Infernape: Another non threatening Pokemon. Ground type moves take him out easily and I have a lot of those. I would probably go with Heatran. It is only threatening to Tyranitar (which does have Aqua Tail and Stone Edge) and flying and ground types IF it happens to have Hidden Power Ice. Luckily it is very frail. Not a threat.
Jirachi: Similar to Azelf. Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up and Tyranitar can take it out with Crunch or Pursuit. Ground moves will also work well. Not a threat.
Kingdra: This is similar to Gyarados and Empoleon. I do not have many ways to counter this. I do have Ice Fang and Hidden Power [Electric] although they are often not enough. Aerodactyl can use Taunt to stop it from setting up. Even so it is a major threat.
Latias: Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up and Hippowdon can use Ice Fang on it. Tyranitar serves as a good counter to it as well. It does have access to Surf which is a bit of a problem. I consider it a minor threat.
Lucario: With all the access to Fire and Ground type moves I do not see it as a threat. I would probably use Gliscor to take it down. However, it could be a threat to Tyranitar.
Machamp: Not a threat with the flying types I have. Skarmory or Gliscor will do will against it.
Magnezone: Not threatening. Earthquake should bring it to its knees, you know, if it had knees. I would just have to make sure Aerodactyl or Skarmory are not in battle.
Mamoswine: The ice type moves threaten by team, but the ground moves do not. I have not actually come across this yet in battle so it is difficult to give it a threat assessment. As for now I will say it is a minor threat.
Metagross: Not threatening. Tyranitar's dark type moves or any ground type moves will do well against it.
Ninjask: I often see this as a lead and while somewhat annoying I do not see it as threatening. Aerodactyl's Rock Slide takes care of it nicely and Taunt stops it from setting up. Heatran's Fire Blast also is a good option.
Porygon-Z: Somewhat threatening with Ice Beam. I really have not see it in battle so it is harder to asses its threat level. I will say it is a minor threat.
Rhyperior: Not threatening with the move coverage I have against it. Glisor may do the best against it.
Roserade: Another Pokemon I often see as a lead. Aerodactyl stops it from setting up, Heatran and Gliscor and Skarmory all have super effective moves against it. Not a threat.
Rotom: I do not find it threatening. Tyranitar's dark attacks do well against it and its electric attacks wont do well against any of my Pokemon with ground typing. It does have levitate so earthquake cannot be used against it but something like Rock Slide should do nicely.
Salamence: Somewhat threatening depending on how the match is going. Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up while Hippowdon can use Ice Fang.
Scizor: Scizor is Heatran's best friend, or more accurately Heatran is the guy that steals money from Scizor on the playground. A good Fire Blast should be good enough to take care of this threat. Eartquake would also work well. Not a threat.
Snorlax: I do not see this that much. Aerodactyl stops it from setting up and Gliscor can counter its moveset pretty well. Tyranitar also seems to do some nice damage to it. Not a threat.
Starmie: With water and ice type moves it is another big threat.
Suicune: Now that I am making this threat list I am noticing how much water types threaten my team. I have not gone up against a Suicune yet, although I do find it threating.
Togekiss: Not a threat. With the rock type moves I have, like on Aerodactyl and Tyranitar, it goes down pretty easily. Taunt stops it from nasty ploting and from roosting.
Tyranitar: Not threating to me. Sandstorm does not hurt me and I can use earthquake to bring it down. Aqua Tail may be problematic but my Tyranitar also has Aqua Tail.
Weavile: I have not yet faced a Weavile. Based on its typing and moveset with Ice, I will have to consider it a major threat.
Yanmega: Not threatening to me. It is similar to Ninjask. Aerodactyl can stop it from setting up and I have very many options to bring it down including Rock Slide, Stone Edge, and Fire Blast.
Zapdos: Not threatening. Hopefully it will switch into Stealth Rock. I have many options for taking it down like Rock Slide, Stone Edge, and Ice Fang. If I predict it to use a electric attack I can switch into a ground type Pokemon.
After making this this threat list I am more sure than I was before that Water and Ice Pokemon have the one up on me. I noticed that Swampert is not on that threat list and it is also a problem for me. I think that something that should be addressed is that weakness but any sugestions that you have are welcome. Thank you again for your rates!
