Gen 3 (RMT) Old Fashioned

Your reasoning better not be "because magneton kills skarm so a RSer is useless."
Just because you killed skarm doesn't mean you don't want to get rid of any spikes it set up before hand.
Maybe the opponent isn't spiking with skarm/forrey, in which case you'll want Starmie to get spikes out of the way.
Ignoring its ability to RS, starmie is good anyway to clean up.
Again, it's just playing style. Maybe he likes to be more careful and run a backup just in case. Just because you play one way doesn't mean you should tell people to play that way without providing arguments/reasonings.

This team definitely reminds of old school, especially that Swampert your team is based on and the STing Lax. A great unique team, Karrot, seems like a personalized team that not all players could use effectively..

Starmie losing Psychic really bites, but Ice Beam is close to necessity on waters primary role to counter Salamence and hitting Zapdos and Celebi hard on the switch. Heracross becomes such a menace, though =/ I don't think even your old-style Cursepert could win against a Heracross (unless it's a Rest Talker) with a Curse already set up. Gengar, too, takes a hit from a boosted Megahorn or a Rock Slide, and could only 3hko it back. Well, all of your team hits it hard, so I guess don't give it any easy switch-ins! You should have a plan for when MoPcross comes in, though. That salac boost and Swords Dance could sweep this team. The best way to go is prolly blow up Meta, regardless of a sub up or no sub, and bring in Starmie for a Surf KO; Gengar for a SBomb / Thunder KO or Hypnosis; or if it could survive and KO back, Magneton.

Actually, your Metagross spread is nice, providing enough defense to snugly take a Swords Danced unswarmed Megahorn in the 85~99% range (92% on average), a Swarmed, unDanced Megahorn for 69%, while MMashing for 77% on average. Predicting Heracross and switching in Metagross may be the best way. It is still risky though. If Hera didn't sub up and Danced instead, Meta's MMash would put it to salac boost + Swarm range.

Other than Heracross, this team deals with standard threats well, surprisingly due to the comeback of that Rest Swampert =d. And also, yay Gengar xD! That Gengar is only for risk takers, with Thunder and Hypnosis and Sludge Bomb unfortunately inviting troublesome Metal pogeys and Ttar. I've personally never tried out Giga Drain with that set ... usually just Sbomb + Thunder for hard-hitting mix offense combined with status and / or kamikaze to deal with the inevitable steel and ground switch-ins. Explosion or D-Bond may provide you a more safer way of disabling a pokemon (like Heracross) than that 60% Hypnosis alone, so it is an option =x.

Again, nice team, and thanks for giving that risky Gengar a chance (tbh, kinda anxious as to how well it contributes to your team) =]. Your team has sufficient offense, defense, and coverage to maneuver over rough spots, including MoPCross, with some good predictions.
