RMT Post - Gen VI

I have been playing Pokemon games since 1998 when they first came out. But this is my first RMT post, so please be gentle. I don't know the exact numbers for the E/V spread of my Pokemon but I know where I put them when I did Super Training. I tried to get Pokemon that could counter types that are popularly used in competitive battling (i.e Fighting, Dragon, Fire and Psychic) as well as those that could cover weaknesses in my team.

My Team

Delphox

E/V: Sp. ATK, Sp. DEF, and HP
Held Item: Charcoal
Ability: Blaze

Moves

Flamethrower
Psybeam
Will-O-Wisp
Grass Knot

Delphox is my number one Pokemon. I designed him to be fairly straightforward. He is also good for covering the weaknesses of other Pokemon in my team. Flamethrower and Psybeam for STAB bonus. Also, Delphox is great for combating poison-types and steel-types to help cover Sylveon's weaknesses. And he can cover Torterra when fighting poison and ice-types. And Grass Knot is there to cover Delphox's weakness to ground, rock and water.

Gyarados

E/V: ATK, Sp. DEF, HP
Held Item: Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate/Mold Breaker (mega)

Moves

Waterfall
Ice Fang
Thunder Wave
Earthquake

Gyarados is the powerhouse of my team. Because my Delphox, Honchkrow and Volcarona are all weak to Rock, I felt a good Water-type was necessary. Also, I wanted a Mega Evolution Pokemon that could stand up to other mega evolved Pokemon. Although, Gyarados does not have the highest stats, she can take a hit from a strong Pokemon.

Sylveon

E/V: Sp. ATK, Sp. DEF, HP
Held Item: Lax Incense
Ability: Cute Charm

Moves

Moonblast
Shadow Ball
Reflect
Swift

Sylveon is a special sweeper on my team. I use her to take advantage of the great defensive capabilities of the Fairy-type. I have her mostly because Dragon-types and Fighting-types are so popular. And Reflect can bolster Sylveon’s below-average defense. There are few counters to Fairies and I thought a strong fairy-type would be needed on any team.

Honchkrow

E/V: ATK, Speed, HP
Held Item: Wide Lens
Ability: Insomnia

Moves

Night Slash
Fly
Double Team
Steel Wing

Honchkrow, like Delphox, is fairly straightforward. I have him holding a Wide Lens to raise the accuracy of Fly and Steel Wing. Steel Wing protects against Ice, Rock and Fairy-types. I also use Honchkrow to counter the popular Fighting and Psychic-types. Also immunity to (Toxic) Spikes and the all-powerful Earthquake is very useful.

Torterra

E/V: ATK, DEF, HP
Held Item: Yache Berry
Ability: Overgrow

Moves

Razor Leaf
Earthquake
Leech Seed
Rock Tomb

Torterra is on my team not only as a physical tank but for a specific reason. I have seen that Wash Rotom and Milotic are popular so I wanted a sturdy grass-type to take them on. His held Yache berry weakens Ice-type attacks for one turn so Torterra can have a chance to attack a water type with an ice move.

Volcarona

E/V: Sp. ATK, Sp. DEF, HP
Held Item: Wise Glasses
Ability: Flame Body

Moves

Flame Thrower
Bug Buzz
Will-O-Wisp
Quiver Dance

Volcarona is on my team as a special sweeper. Also, Bug-types are underrated and can be difficult to deal with when used the right way. I can use him to counter Delphox’s weaknesses as well as take on Dark and Psychic-types. Will-O-Wisp is good for compensating for Volcarona’s low defense.

You should probably say for what purpose this team is so it is easier to help. Is it OU, UU, NU, or Wi-Fi (or anything else)?

Information that probably won't threaten national security, but you never know
I don't think legendaries are allowed on Battle Spot, but if they are, you should use them unless you are specifically trying not to use them. Wi-Fi isn't my strength, but I'll do what I can.
I would recommend HP Rock instead of WoW for Volcarona because setup and support usually won't work together (Armaldo can't Swords Dance and Rapid Spin at the same time for this reason). HP rock lets you get valuable coverage on fire types, and helps against other pokemon like Gyarados.

Seed Bomb and Wood Hammer are vastly superior to razor leaf on torterra, the former is weaker but the latter has recoil. You should consider sub seeding, but don't just do it because I told you too. Experiment with it.

Honchcrow really requires sucker punch to function. Brave Bird is usually better than fly and is more accurate as well. This one is really optional, but Super Power gives great coverage against Tyranitar and Bisharp. Whirlwind, Taunt, Haze, Toxic, and Thunder Wave are support options that can replace the unreliable double team. Life Orb is generally also more useful.

I'm not sure if this will be impossible because of breeding etc., but Dragon Dance would be a better fit on Gyarados then Thunder Wave.

Lastly, Delphox should have psyshock or psychic over psybeam, and that's about all.

Looks good, and good luck!
