(RMT) Team Crazy Train

Ok, so, after playing around some more, and tinkering with some teams, I've landed one that combines my love of hax (Serene Grace abuse) with my love of Breloom to bring upon this team which I think is quite good.

Heatran.png

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Naive nature (+Spe -SpD)
IV Atk: 22 for legality
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Ability: Flash Fire
-Earth Power
-Fire Blast
-Stealth Rock
-Explosion

Comment: You'd be surprised how effective this is. Against slow leads, Stealth Rock goes up and no one is the wiser. Against fast leads, Stealth Rock goes up but people don't seem to notice the scarf. It's easy to chase many leads with this and easily get up Stealth Rock (the scarf also prevents and silly taunters). He can easily come back later and surprise a Fire Blast on slow opponents. Max speed is for enemy lead Heatrans for an easy OHKO. He can also explode if the going gets tough (particularly against dragons or Cresselias).

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Adamant nature (+Atk -SpA)
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Stk / 212 Spe
Ability: Poison Heal
-Leech Seed
-Focus Punch
-Substitute
-Spore

Comment: Originally, he was supposed to be a status absorber and provide nice resistances and sleep support but over time he evolved into the focal point of the team. My goodness can this guy be good. I am not even worried when I am down 4-1 and Breloom is my 1. Spore wrecks any stat-booster since they fall asleep immediately after. When the water pokemon come to chase Heatran, bam, Breloom with a spore on the switch, sub on the next switch and seed bulky switch ins to stall or fists away to make pain and death. He's a real pain to dislodge and with the paralysis support he gets from this team, he's all the tougher to finally KO.

Weavile.jpg

Weavile @ Choice Band
Jolly nature (+Spe -Atk)
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Ability: Pressure
-Ice Shard
-Pursuit
-Night Slash
-Brick Break

Comment: So I ditched Gyarados since he wasn't providing enough offense and defensively, he was not needed. Weavile, on the other hand, injects offense and covers key counters. Ice Shard stops DDmence cold and Night Slash kills Latias and other ghosts who Breloom can't defeat. If Dusknoir is against Breloom, and gets seeded, I can switch to Weavile (no Will'o'Wisp since it wouldn't affect Breloom), no get OHKOd by Fire Punch, even with Stealth Rocks, and easily OHKO with Pursuit if they switch or Night Slash (thanks to leech seed). That's the toughest ghost to take down, barring Rotom-H's overheat (also easy to OHKO though). I figure the comments were right, so I added this.

zapdos.gif

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Calm nature (+SpD -Atk)
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Spe / 220 SpD
Ability: Pressure
-Discharge
-Heat Wave
-Roost
-Light Screen

Comment: Less annoying than Togekiss, but I started to realize that over paralysis meant Breloom couldn't Spore and would get deadlocked into subbing too much. This also provides a much needed fighting resist (other than Mence) since Heatran tends to draw Close Combat a lot. Light Screen compliments Jirachi's Reflect to help support the team and make Breloom or Salamence easier to get in.

jirachi.jpg

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Impish nature (+Def -SpA)
EVs: 240 HP / 160 Def / 76 SpD / 32 Spe
Ability: Serene Grace
-Body Slam
-Iron Head
-Wish
-Reflect

Comment: I don't like U-Turn as it doesn't help my team like I need it to. Reflect can stop many things who like to use Earthquake or Close Combat or Stone Edge or Ice Shard. This set syncs well with Zapdos since Fire, Electric, Normal and Steel is unresisted and Reflect + Light Screen makes any bulky pokemon that much harder to beat. I like to Wish and switch out, healing any damage from entry hazards.

salamence.png

Salamence @ Life Orb
Rash nature (+Spa -SpD)
EVs: 84 Atk / 208 SpA / 216 Spe
Ability: Intimidate
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Outrage

Comment: The ace in the hole. I recently learned Draco Meteor, from this set, can OHKO enemy Salamence running DD sets even after 2 drops (-4 stat modifier) which is great news for this team. Furthermore, paralysis lets Salamence get the jump on slightly faster pokemon and in the clutch, a convenient parahax could save the day. MixMence is hard to stop, especially when a team is worn out from battling Breloom and Jirachi (who, by the way, is a well know type compliment to Mence).

So I added Weavile for RestTalk Gyarados. Jirachi stays since Wish passing solves the problem of entry damage and he provides key paralysis and helps defeat Ice and Rock types. Light Screen can also stop strong fire attacks from hurting much of my team.

I swapped Classic MixMence for New MixMence, Togekiss for Zapdos and Light Screen for Reflect on Jirachi. It's less annoying than before, but it relies less on hax, is faster than before, has better type coverage and overall more defensive.

We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the tips!

PS: Thanks TAY for the edit, I'll keep this template in mind in the future.

Well you won't be making a lot of friends with this team, but it looks pretty good.

A possible problem is that you don't have any revenge that can beat a DDMence. Intimidate shuffling can help, but without a spinner, SR damage will add up fast. If you don't like revenge, consider a Calm Mind Suicune, a Cresselia, or a Swampert.

Is Wish Jirachi really necessary? If not, get a base 100 Spe+ revenger or a bulky water with which to beat up a DD'd DDMence. I know that I say this on all my RMTs, but the trainer who ignores that creature is foolish indeed.

If you want a more offensive route, run a Choice Band Weavile over Jirachi: Ice Shard to OHKO Mence, Night Slash to OHKO Latias.

The only thing to really do here is consider the roles of your pokemon. I bet you'll find one that is superfluous, which can be replaced with a better threat.

That is a very good point. I've been thinking about what to use to stop DDMence and Latias but I didn't think Weavile was strong enough for Latias. Many thanks, I'll try and work it in.

I try to recommend at least one Revenge Killer per team and I see that has already been suggested. The team seems solid with no glaring weaknesses except for the DDMence weakness already mentioned. One thing that I found strange was that you are runnign the Classic Mixmence. In my opinion, New Mixmence is much more Viable. Classic Mixmence was iirc made to counter SkarmBliss which is not seen as much as it previously was. Besides, Outrage is stronger than a SE Brick Break. If you have a specific reason for running the Classic set over the New set, then go ahead, but in my opinion, the new Mixmence is almost always better.

Don't switch in Weavile on anything. It's like a Deoxys-A in OU. But Night Slash on a Choice Band will OHKO a standard Latias (unless it runs a shitload of physical defense EV's, but that's doubtful). No crit necessary, but the band is.

If you're a gambling guy, run Punishment over Night Slash. Latias likes to Calm Mind, and the base power of Punishment goes up by 40 with every Calm Mind. You can also crack a CM Cune/Celebi.

just a nit-pick, but like you said Breloom is indeed fun to use and annoying to opponents, however don't forget something: Ghosts are immune to Focus Punch! thus i suggest picking between Spore and Leech Seed. both provide switches (and Spore gives ya free attacks later, while Leech Seed gives you healing/annoyance) but i suggest you replace one with Stone Edge or Seed Bomb just for the pure fact that a lot less things will wall you (Ghosts mainly) and he'll still keep his fun playing style.

personally i've used Sub, Focus Punch, Seed Bomb, Leech Seed with much success, but mix and match to find what fits your team the best :)

So I added Weavile for Gyarados. The intimidate will be missed but this move, as pointed out, really does help cover key resists (dragons, ghosts). This way, I can keep the super annoying Breloom over a bit more offense. Thanks for the replies everyone!

Minor thing: if you want to get Weavile in on Dusknoir, try a pivot switch, because I don't think Weavile can come in on a physical attack it doesn't resist.

What I mean is switch in Salamence into the Fire Punch. Intimidate will do it's thing. Then switch in Weavile. Either you can set up a trap w/ Pursuit or Night Slash. Or, the other guy will switch when you send in Salamence, so now you have the advantage again because Weavile is hella fast.

Just remember, Weavile is fast at a lot of things-fast at destroying your opponent, but fast at becoming a flat icy blob if anyone plays him wrong.
