This is my team I'm working on for regulation h it started out as a sand team but didn't see much success with it and decided to change things around while still keeping the Pokemon I like. I decided my goal for this team was to just try and make something where Toxtricity could be a little more viable. This team isn't fully thought out or anything so you might see some stuff that might be a little weird or feel like it wasn't done with a specific purpose, and you'd kinda be right.
Toxtricity @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Punk Rock
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Tera Blast
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
Toxtricity serves as a strong special sweeper who I feel provides some good coverage
I decided on safety goggles as specs wouldn't let me make full use of Toxtricity's decent coverage and Amoongus is annoying and Toxtricity with safety googles gives me a switch into sleep powders. It also just generally helps me remove Amoongus from the field.
I decided on tera dark as I felt a defensive tera would just be a waste on a Pokemon that's already as frail as Toxtricity and tera dark tera blast would allow me to take out threats like Hisuian Typhlosion and Gholdengo while also providing an immunity to Psychic.
Quaquaval @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Moxie
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 108 HP / 148 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Aqua Step
- Close Combat
- Coaching
I'm not all too sure about quauquaval's current tera or move set I feel like there's a good bit of improvement to be done like coaching should probably get replaced with protect here but at the same time I do think coaching could be a little silly.
I chose to use Sitrus Berry over Life Orb as I wanted to prioritize quaquaval's overall survivability
The main reason I did my EV spread as I did was I didn't see having 252 EV's in atk to be necessary and wanted to increase the amount of time quaquaval could stay out on the field by putting more points into hp though I may change that so there's points are instead delegated into defenses
Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 66 Def / 124 SpA / 66 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Encore
- Protect
- Tailwind
I opted for a more offensive set for Whimsicott here since it's something I don't feel many people expect and this set allows me to deal massive damage to threats like Dragapult, garchomp, Kingambit... etc. Whimsicott is still obviously in a mainly supportive roll here.
I decided to invest a tad bit into my Whimsicott's defenses and didn't really bother with speed since Whimsicott is already decently fast and with tailwind up they're going to be faster than pretty much anything else on the field.
I opted for leftovers over sash as for the most part I don't find this whimsicott to be getting taken down in one hit too often and when there is something on the field that can do that I usually have a switch that resists whatever move they're using.
Garchomp @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Rough Skin
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Scale Shot
- Protect
- Iron Head
- Stomping Tantrum
I chose scale shot over dragon claw as overall it just allows for a higher output of damage with the main downside being a defense lower. I'm using stomping tantrum over earthquake as my team is without any ground immunities and I wouldn't want to have to protect with whatever pokemon I have out with garchomp every time I want to use Earthquake.
Tera dragon is there just to boost that scale shots damage even further and Iron head for any fairy types, although the problem with using iron head over poison jab is that I can't use iron head to get rid of Primarina easily who is a big threat right now in regulation h though isn't a huge problem for my team so I chose Iron head.
Gholdengo @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Good as Gold
Level: 50
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Protect
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
I have colbur berry here as before I had clear amulet but very rarely would it ever get put to use so I decided on colbur berry which allows me to take things like an adamant nature Kingambit's sucker punch.
I'm not a huge fan of a Pokemon being stuck with a stat drop that I can't get rid of especially atk drops so I wanted nasty plot over recover.
I wanted tera steel here for pretty obvious reasons just to deal more damage and remove my ghost and dark weaknesses.
Rillaboom @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Fake Out
- Wood Hammer
- Drain Punch
I couldn't really think of what to use for my sixth pokemon I was thinking about doing some weird thing where I try and run this team as a trick room team occasionally with oranguru and then other times use tailwind Whimsicott but then decided that Rillaboom could potentially work here since I might not want to bring Whimsicott or I could be up againt a rain team which are quite popular right now. Another thing is to override psychic terrain against any psyspam teams. Finally Rillaboom is just overall really solid right now and I wanted a strong attacker with grass stab since Whimsicott could deal a good bit of damage but can't get rid of threats like palafin, dondozo, or basculegion.
Anyway I'm just looking for feedback I didn't put a ton of thought into this team just kinda wanted to do something a little different. The team overall I think needs better synergy between the members but I'm not too sure who to swap out to help achieve that without changing things too much. I definitely don't think I cooked with this one btw.
