RMT, Yanmega fun!

RMT [There are no cookies here :( ]

Yanmega (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Hypnosis
- Hidden Power [Electric]

After reading a bunch of RMT's, I see the potential of Yanmega is astounding. Counters every common lead but Bronzong, but will sleep and pull out for something else. HP Electric for Gyarados.

---
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/216 Spd/120 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

I needed a Rapid Spinner, so I debated between Forretress and Starmie. I picked Starmie to counter the dragons and Tyranitar. Ice beam is for dragons.

---
Garchomp (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Standard. Nice revenge killer and wall breaker.

---
Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/82 Spd/176 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Lava Plume
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Status absorber. Speed EV's there for now, might switch for SpAtt EV's not sure.

---
Gengar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Hypnosis
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt

Revenge killing standard.

---
Mamoswine (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 124 HP/252 Atk/64 Def/68 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Curse

This was up in the air. I needed something to fight Salamence and Garchomp off, so I figured Mamoswine covers this. He can't switch in, but he can revenge kill if need. Not sure about item though.

---

Any advice? I know I have double leftovers, but I couldnt figure what else to put. Also will switch out Mamoswine for something if I can find a better Pokemon. Maybe Weavile?

I'm not sure you need HP Electric on Yanamega, as the only thing it hits is Gyrados. I'd say HP Ice for Dragons or HP Ground for Heatran or Protect for scouting/Speed Boost would be better. Recommending Ground or Protect.

Non-leading ScarfGar probably wants HP Ice>Hypnosis because Ice allows for better Revenge Killing as you don't want to waste 2 turns sleeping something with a 65% accuracy move. Also, only one Sleep move per team is advised.

Garchomp breaks walls alot better with Outrage>Dragon Claw but be careful with it. Also wants Yache>Life Orb for getting in a SD.

Wasting 4 EV's on Chomp and Gar.

You also can't switch into CBWeavile and 2 of your Pokemon die to CB Pursuit.

CMSuicune with RestTalk laughs at your team.

With HP Ice on Gar/Mega and Starmie's faster Ice Beam I see good Dragon coverage so drop Mamo for something but I don't see anything that covers both of those weaks while not opening up a hole.

What if I switch out Mamoswine for Forretress, and change Starmie to a specStar? Forretress can kill Weavile if needed with Gyro Ball or Explosion.

Item Clause isn't a standard clause, so unless this team is for something special, chances are you won't be playing under it.

To start with Yanmega, HP Ice or Ground are really what I would use instead of HP Electric. The only thing you're using HP Electric on is Gyarados, where HP Ice or Ground will give you much better coverage. HP Ground will hit Heatran, while Ice hits Zapdos, Garchomp and Salamence.

Give Mamoswine Ice Fang or Blizzard over Curse, you'll love the increased power against slower enemys. Blizzard will 2HKO Skarmory, but the low accuracy is a big turnoff without hail.

I'm wondering what the speed EVs on Heatran help you out speed. Some SpDef EVs will really help Heatran take hits.

One thing I notice is you seem to have a Weavile problem. If you really want to replace Mamoswine, you could go with Bulky Gyarados or Hariyama. Starmie could be replaced by Gyarados in my opinion, since you still have a rather good Infernape counter, while giving you a buffer for Weavile. Dropping Mamoswine for Forretress and changing Starmie could also work, but Mamoswine is a huge threat that I love to have.

Could work but SpecsStar is asking for trouble. Try the CounterStar set in its analysis. Even then CMCune could give you trouble.

Ironically, you're mamoweak. Nothing in your team can switch into it and the only thing that will 'threaten' it is your Starmie. You should note that Starmie will rarely EVER OHKO Mamoswine with no SpD. Mamoswine can take down Yanmega with Ice Shard, Starmie with Earthquake, Garchomp with Ice Shard, Heatran with Earthquake and majorly dent Gengar with Ice Shard.

Your only chance is to perhaps sacrifice Starmie and then revenge kill with your own Mamoswine. Even so, in general, it is Mamoweak.

Perhaps you might want Bronzong in there to slightly boost your capabilities of taking down Mamoswine as well as boosting your defense overall.

Also note that Swords Dance Lucario can take down 5/6 of your pokemons with Close Combat, Bullet Punch and Extremespeed. The only thing that can handle Lucario is Garchomp but a mispredict marks the ending of it too. Gliscor solves that problem although I assume you want to keep this as offensively orientated as possible.

After noting that, you should use Bronzong and/or Gliscor, although Bronzong is more favoured at this point of time seeing how Gliscor would just add yet another Mamoweak pokemon.

Uh some clarifications first.

Hidden Power Electric from Yanmega doesn't even OHKO the BulkyGyarados spread thanks to the massive 384 HP used.

Starmie cannot even 2HKO Tyranitar, so therefore is not a counter. Yes, Tyranitar can switch into a Surf, and STILL kill it after taking another one.

After all this is said in mind...we move to the team!

If we're using Life Orb on Chomp, I wouldn't mind Fire Blast instead, it takes you 2 Swords Dance to OHKO a Skarmory with Fire Fang. And even then, it can still live since it does 97% min! Fire Blast on the other hand, does the same thing, but without having to boost. (By same I mean 2HKO).

To prevent the whole Lucario, Mamoswine issue, we can add in...............a BULKY MOLTRES!!! Rapid Spin support so why not? But yeah if not, then we can always go for the boring Gyarados, but either way, the replacement would go into the Heatran slot.

I'd also go for a Blizzard / Ice Shard / Ice Fang / Earthquake @ Life Orb Mamoswine set, as that's probably the most explosive one. Although wouldn't say no to adding Stealth Rocks on there though...

mamo also OHKO's starmie with earthquake if it's running a life orb or choice band.

Bulky Moltres does have some minor issues with fast Mamoswine, but you can always just make it fast enough to outspeed Jolly Mamo. It's a wonderful Lucario/Ape/Weavile/Metagross etc switch in.
