Introduction:
This will be my very first RMT and I hope that you guys can help me expand on it. I sometimes go to Pokemon tournaments IRL, so I wanted to come up with something that will be able to take first the next tournament I go to. I built this team about a week and a half ago, so I will recall why I went with these Pokemon the best that I can.
Team at a Glance:
Detalis:
Machamp @ Lum Berry | Adamant
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP, 248 Atk, 4 Speed, 16 SpD
Moves:
Bullet Punch
Dynamicpunch
Ice Punch
Payback
Machamp is just amazing as an anti-lead. I use his move coverage to just set the pace for the rest of the match. Most likely, I'll be able to 2OHKO common leads, such as Areodactyl, who primarily use the first turn to lay down Stealth Rock.
Heatran @ Sucha Berry | Timid
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Speed, 252 Ap Atk
Moves:
Earth Power
Stealth Rock
Explosion
Fire Blast
I needed a Pokemon to be able to set up SR, which gives my team the much needed support. The other moves are just for coverage. I do recognize that once Heatran is taken down, my depth of fire moves will be gone. I think that this is the slot to do something else to help support my team, but I would be giving up a backup for Scizor that can nullify the damage from other Heatrans or Apes.
Suicune @ Leftovers | Timid
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP, 40 Def, 216 Speed
Moves:
Calm Mind
Surf
Ice Beam
HP Electric
To back up Heatran, I decided to go with a Suicune that has some bulk defensively, but can take advantage of it's 85 base speed. Barring a crit from Stone Edge, I've had much success using Suicune as my main answer against Gyarados. Normally, I set up Suicune early in the game to set up CM while my opponent switches out.
Scizor @ Choice Band | Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 160 HP, 176 Atk, 4 Speed, 168 SpD
Moves:
Bullet Punch
Superpower
U-turn
Pursuit
To be honest, I read a RMT that uses the same EVs and I decided to try it. If I was more observant as to why these EVs are used, I would be able to explain fully as to why I like this variant of Scizor. Since Choice Band amplifies the attack, I assume the EV spread is to provide more support against special sweepers. I might go with a higher amount of attack to ensure OHKOs, but I've had little problems with this set so far. In addition, I like the synergy that Heatran and Scizor provide.
Flygon @ Choice Scarf | Adamant
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Speed
Moves:
Outrage
Stone Edge
Earthquake
U-turn
Flygon is absolutely my favorite Pokemon. I needed a fast revenge killer and Flygon was my number one choice. I normally save him for late-game in order to scout what my opponents have. Despite the fact that this is a standard set, Flygon is an extremely important aspect of my team. I went with Stone Edge over Fire Blast to have a secondary option against Gyarados in case my Suicune falls. I might go with Fire Blast because I have Rotom-c as another option to deal with Gyarados.
Rotom-c @ Leftovers | Bold
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 168 Def, 88 Speed
Moves:
Will-o-wisp
Leaf Storm
Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Since Flygon and Scizor have choice items, I went with the standard set. Rotom-c is my only method of getting a status infliction, besides Machamp. Unfortunately, WoW has 1/4 of a chance of missing. This Pokemon is my main way of dealing with Swampert. If I can predict the switch, WoW definitely helps me against incoming Tyranitars and Scizors that pack Pursuit.
Overall:
I've noticed that I've had trouble primarily against Hail and Baton Pass teams. I do not have a phazing move, like Roar, and I only have two Pokemon that can inflict a status condition barring the low percentages that the other moves provide. However, I do believe that the synergy is pretty solid. Currently, my rating is 1271, but I would like that score to go even higher with this team. I just need help in ironing out the wrinkles of this team.
