Rotom-F's niche as a Defogger comes from its ability to consistently threaten prominent entry hazard setters such as Mesprit, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish while being a powerful offensive pivot to boot. Rotom-F's Speed tier is also important to note, allowing it to outpace commonplace Pokemon like Stoutland, Skuntank, and the aforementioned Mesprit and Qwilfish, which are all threatened by its potent STAB combination and high Special Attack. Finally, Rotom-F boasts solid utility options which make it very unpredictable; Will-O-Wisp is able to cripple checks like Hitmonchan and Crabominable, while Pain Split compensates for its lack of reliable recovery and enables it to take advantage of bulky switch-ins like Audino and Lanturn. Rotom-F can form a potent offensive core with physical wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Absol, as their ability to break past Lanturn, Audino, and Type: Null is highly appreciated by Rotom-F, which can dispatch the likes of Mudsdale and Tangela in return.
