move 3: Defog / Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Pain Split / Will-O-Wisp
item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 48 SpA / 208 Spe
Rotom-W is a fantastic pivot in UU thanks to its great typing, which is further improved by its ability, Levitate, leaving it with very few Pokemon that can easily take advantage of it, allowing it to check foes like Darmanitan and Inteleon. Volt Switch allows it to create momentum off foes like Roserade and Celebi that commonly pivot into it. Rotom-W is a great Defogger thanks to its ability to beat common entry hazard users such as Rhyperior and Gigalith. Pain Split gives Rotom-W a more reliable form of recovery, which helps it check foes such as Noivern and Incineroar better. Will-O-Wisp is an option to cripple foes such as Tsareena and Haxorus that attempt to switch in for free, but it also helps it punish threats like Cobalion and Escavalier better. Toxic is an alternative option that can cripple Gastrodon and other bulky Water-types, which Rotom-W struggles to break past otherwise. The Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed foes like Gardevoir and Chandelure, the latter of which can OHKO with Hydro Pump, and the remaining EVs are placed into Special Attack, noticeably allowing it to 2HKO Flygon and OHKO Rhyperior with Hydro Pump. Alternatively, a bulkier spread with maximum Defense investment, in tandem with a Bold nature, can be used to let it check foes such as Cobalion and Golisopod better, notably allowing it to live a +2 Close Combat from the former.
Escavalier and Noivern are able to check Grass-types like Roserade and Celebi, which Rotom-W is unable to effectively punish with its coverage moves or status thanks to their typing and ability in Natural Cure. Escavalier is also able to check Haxorus, which threatens to OHKO Rotom-W with Earthquake, while Noivern is able to revenge kill it for Rotom-W. Incineroar, Flygon, and the aforementioned Noivern are able to form a VoltTurn core with Rotom-W and bring it in safely against foes like Rhyperior, Gigalith, and Milotic that it can take advantage of. Incineroar is also able to take pressure off Rotom-W having to check foes like Doublade, Darmanitan, and Escavalier and help wear down bulky Water-types like Milotic with Knock Off or Toxic, allowing Rotom-W to beat them more easily. Roserade and Tsareena make for great partners, as they can break past bulky Water-types, most notably Gastrodon, and pivot into Heliolisk, a foe Rotom-W is unable to break past. Tsareena can also open up the slot for Rotom-W to carry status options like Will-O-Wisp to deal with foes like Doublade better. Wallbreakers like Darmanitan, Chandelure, and Choice Specs Sylveon appreciate Rotom-W being able to bring them in safely with Volt Switch, with the former two being able to take advantage of the Grass-types Rotom-W invites in. In return, Rotom-W can alleviate their weakness to entry hazards by supporting them with Defog support and pivot into and wear down Gigalith and Water-types like Milotic for them. Defensive Sylveon makes for a great partner for its ability to provide Rotom-W with Wish support, which can allow it to forego Pain Split for extra utility, as well as cure status ailments such as Toxic with Heal Bell, allowing Rotom-W to pivot into bulky Water-types with less risk. Sylveon is also able to check Dragon-types like Haxorus and Draco Meteor Noivern for it.

name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Discharge
move 4: Volt Switch / Pain Split
item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nasty Plot allows Rotom-W to be an effective wallbreaker capable of setting up on and breaking past foes like Milotic and Gigalith. Discharge provides Rotom-W with a reliable Electric-type STAB move capable of punishing foes that switch into it, such as Haxorus and Tsareena, with its high paralysis chance. Volt Switch allows Rotom-W to create momentum off of common switch-ins like Roserade and Celebi, which Rotom-W is unable to break past. Alternatively, Pain Split can be used to give Rotom-W a form of reliable recovery, which helps it set up against foes like Rhyperior and Noivern more easily. Maximum Special Attack investment is used so that Rotom-W can apply the most offensive pressure possible, (AC) allowing it to OHKO foes like Necrozma with Hydro Pump after a Nasty Plot boost, while a Timid nature with maximum Speed investment allows it to outspeed foes like Gardevoir and Duraludon. Alternatively, a bulkier spread with maximum HP investment can be used to allow it to set up a Nasty Plot on foes like Draco Meteor Noivern and Rhyperior more easily, though Rotom-W should only attempt to do against the former if running Pain Split.
Incineroar and Flygon are able to bring in Rotom-W safely against foes such as Vaporeon and Gigalith, giving it ample opportunities to set up a Nasty Plot to wallbreak. Incineroar is also able to cripple bulky Water-types with Knock Off or status and pressure Grass-types, while Flygon can revenge kill some of the best answers to Rotom-W in Heliolisk and Haxorus. Late-game cleaners like Doublade and Dragon Dance Necrozma appreciate Rotom-W's ability to breakthrough bulky walls like Milotic and Rhyperior. Escavalier, Darmanitan, and Chandelure are able to take on Grass-types like Roserade and Celebi, which Rotom-W is unable to break past. In return, Rotom-W is able to beat bulky Water-types, Gigalith, Incineroar, and Noivern for them. Roserade is able to support Rotom-W with Spikes, allowing it to OHKO foes like Gardevoir and Milotic with Hydro Pump and Discharge respectively after a Nasty Plot boost. Roserade is also able to provide Rotom-W with ample setup opportunities thanks to Sleep Powder, check problematic Electric-types like Heliolisk and Rotom-C, and wear down Sylveon for Rotom-W to sweep more easily. Ribombee is able to provide Rotom-W with Sticky Web support, which alleviates its proneness to being revenge killed by faster threats like Lucario and Cobalion.
