Welcome to the 2025 RU Circuit Playoffs! After 11 months, 4 metagame shifts, and 7 RU Circuit tournaments, the 16 best competitors this year have distinguished themselves and earned the right to compete for the title of RU's Circuit Champion! The winner of this tournament will receive the 2025 RU RarelyUsed Ribbon as a reward for their hard work and accomplishments this year!

Specific Rules:
  • This is a standard SV RU tournament.
  • This tournament will be SINGLE Elimination.
  • Rounds 1 and 2 will be Best of 3; the semifinals and finals will be Best of 5.
  • Any tier changes that occur during a round will not be in effect until the following round.
  • Changing teams between games is allowed.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown; you must play on either Smogtours or the main server.
  • Replays are mandatory for each game you play! I recommend playing on Smogtours so that they are automatically saved. DO NOT HIDE YOUR REPLAYS.
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokemon with the same PokeDex number on their team.
  • Sleep Clause: You cannot inflict sleep upon more than one member of the opposing team.
  • Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize are banned.
  • OHKO Clause: The moves Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, and Fissure are banned.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Anything capable of intentionally creating an endless battle is banned, draws will be enforced after 1000 turns.

  • Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through pm) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  • Scouting: Next, I do not want to hear anything about counterteaming, at all. Do not complain about it. I also don't want to hear about any blatant scouting. There is a difference between "[user] is known for using stall" and "let me follow [user] around all day to watch all his battles since I am his opponent". I expect a lot of the former and none of the latter. I give permission to all battlers to ask any person spectating their battle to leave if they do not want them watching. Everyone will have access to your replays from earlier rounds though.
  • Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  • Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.

went 4/8 (tentatively) for the r1 matchups need to lock in going forward...

16. Esteb4n vs 8. zause - esteb4n took down reigning ru circuit champ frank last week which is pretty cool and he looked pretty good during that set compared to zause who had god intervene in both his games so i will give edge to esteb4n
5. Ampha vs (Winner of 4. THE_CHUNGLER vs 13. Hoops) - i predicted chungler to do the thing last week and that hasnt changed since, i also think he'll pull through vs ampha if he does end up winning, ampha did look good last week vs gk though and seems to be playing more in form compared to some of his other recent ru showings so should be a good set
14. Feliburn vs 6. Cielau - feli was on an absolute burner r1, looked fantastic playing out of his mind, meanwhile ciel had to rely on the good fortune of txunt inexplicably bringing BOTH a lilligant and a pz who were slower than a feraligatr somehow? yeah idk what exactly was goin on there but idt feli will fold the same way
2. Daharan vs 10. Xiri - xiri has rolled the new french guys two rounds in a row now and like last week i expect the experience factor to be pretty significant here and give the edge to xiri
