Project RU Lure That Threat! Week 10: Roserade (Sub)

Gonna say bug z necrozma. (But for only 1 reason)

I think Gard is probably the most viable set here, but it's also so viable it's something you could reasonably have suspicion to account for. Sd nec isnt new but that mon has like 4 or 5 consistently viable sets so its alot more of a toss up and that's why I think it fits "lure" better

DBW (Block Slowking)

Using Z-moves to get past a Protect spamming mon creates 50/50 situations that, I feel, make these movesets not that reliable against Registeel. Necrozma with SD isn't really a surprise. I like MSceptile, though he lacks raw power, it's great against offense but he's cockblocked by some mons, such as Dhelmise.

I love both Espeon and Slowking, the only way I've found to choose is: I'd rather have a Kee Berry on Espeon.

I came first with 3 votes #Rigged and both Katy and TheJimJims came tied second so good job! Hall of Fame will be updated accordingly and I might add a leaderboard for overall winners because it's usually spicy to see who's consistently the best.

The third Pokemon we need to lure is...

blastoise-mega.gif

MIKE (Blastoise-Mega) @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam

Mike the Mega Blastoise wants to come in on Pokemon it checks to get off free spins and to punch holes in teams. Lure this boy in and send him packing.

[Submission ends 3rd July]

arcanine.gif

Arcanine @ Grassium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Morning Sun

The anti ladder hero Arcanine set is a great lure for Water-type Pokemon in general but is extra good luring Mega Blastoise because it doesn't kill with Wild Charge but Bloom Doom sends it packing.

252 SpA Arcanine Bloom Doom (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Blastoise: 330-390 (110.3 - 130.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

On top of this it is really good because if Arcanine reveals it is special it makes the opposition feel that Water-types are safe as Arcanine gets no special Electric-type moves and no Grass-type attacks outside of Solar Beam. It mainly worked on ladder for me luring in Blastoise but also as it OHKOes Barbaracle through screens, which is really popular atm so its not uber niche to like one Pokemon.

252 SpA Arcanine Bloom Doom (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Barbaracle through Light Screen: 390-460 (136.8 - 161.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

z-zap cannon slowbro

Slowbro.png

Slowbro @ Electrium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Zap Cannon
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off

Mega-Blastoise usually is bulky enough to tank any move from Slowbro and can put out a big damage on it with its Dark Pulse boosted by Mega Launcher.
But this lure will do the trick, it has a chance to OHKO mega-Blastoise after Stealth Rocks damage and prevents it from spinning the Rocks away.

Calc:
4 SpA Slowbro Gigavolt Havoc (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Blastoise-Mega: 244-288 (81.6 - 96.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Charizard @ Firium Z
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Solar Beam
- Sunny Day

Charizard is a mon that's pretty uncommon in RU (0.8% at high ladder in May), though it's a force to be reckoned with. Few things can tank him in the metagame once the sun is up (namely Mantine, Goodra, Dragalge, Snorlax, also Gigalith though it's less reliable than it is against Drought users). He can be either a strong wallbreaker by using a Inferno Overdrive under sun with solar power, OHKOing Cresselia in the process, or a potent cleaner thanks to Z-Sunny Day giving +1 speed. His main advantage over Ninetales is the possibility to be a cleaner and the surprise it brings with a Sunny Day set.

252 SpA Solar Power Charizard Solar Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Blastoise-Mega in Sun: 308-364 (103 - 121.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Solar Power Charizard Inferno Overdrive (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cresselia in Sun: 478-564 (107.6 - 127%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Solar Power Charizard Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Machamp in Sun: 274-324 (71.3 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Solar Power Charizard Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Milotic in Sun: 284-336 (72 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Milotic Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Charizard in Sun: 98-116 (32.9 - 39%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Solar Power damage

252 SpA Solar Power Charizard Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Noivern in Sun: 213-252 (68.4 - 81%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

This is the most fun set I've made in the few lures I've done lmao

RHYPERIOR
rhyperior.gif

Item: Rockium Z
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 112 ATT / 60 SPD / 84 SPE
Nature: Adamant
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Fire Punch

Rhyperior is a very threatening offensive rocks setter with a massive attack stat that let's it put immense pressure on those that don't outspeed and ohko it, and those that try to switch into it alike. This set has super high potential to set the field for games. 112 Att evs ensure that MBlast is always OHKOd by continental crush after rocks damage. 84 spe outpaces registeel and any other uninvested base 50. The evs in hp and spd are to give rhyperior more bulk.

Rhyp gives you 2 scenerios to remove mblast from the game.
1: opposing MBlast comes in on set rocks and is smashed with a big ol Z rock for a KO
2: MBlast comes in as rhyp goes to set rocks. Aura sphere does 68.4 - 80.4%, meaning you're free to smash that Z move (which by the way has a 25% chance to ohko outright). Now blast is in a scenerio where if it spins you can just attack it and remove it, or if it claims rhyperior then you can force it to end its game early with any faster mon since it will now die to rocks which will allow you to keep them for the game.

The rockium z also allows you to seriously dent many EQ switches such as shaymin, golisopod, mandibuzz, rotom-mow, tsareena, and virizion (ohkoing pod, buzz, tsareena, and rotom). Fire punch rounds the set by seriously bopping escavalier and allowing Rhyperior to beat Bronzong 1v1. Also a nice bonus is that SD Fight z virizion cannot switch into this set at high hp as unboosted leaf blade does 64.2 - 75.3%, and unboosted AOP does 66.5 - 78.8%, while virizion is 2hkod by a punch or rock z switch in.

Metagross @ Electrium Z
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Punch

Blastoise normally want to switch into metagross to spin the rocks as fast as possible. It has Nothing to fear in generell unless Metagross is one of the rock Explosion Suizide sets. But even Explosion sets aren't that bad for Toise because it's outspeeding anyway. Electrium-Z can do a nearly clear Kill to Blastoise.
252+ Atk Metagross Gigavolt Havoc (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Blastoise-Mega: 294-346 (98.3 - 115.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
Furthermore, Metagross can lure Slowbro, Milotic, Mandibuzz, Golisopod, Araquanid, Mantine you normally only have toxic for. So you don't really miss Toxic.

Voting is up!

A load of cool sets! My vote is going to Mind Gaming for the Electrium Z Metagross set!

Congratulations to mind gaming for winning this weeks lure with Electrium Z Metagross! Katy came second with Electrium Z Slowbro too! Hall of Fame will be updated soon!

The 4th Pokemon we need to lure is...

florges.gif

Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Moonblast
- Synthesis
- Heal Bell

[Submissions end 11th July]

av heavy slam machamp

068.png

Machamp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Atk / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch
- Heavy Slam

Usually Florges beats Assault Vest Machamp 1v1 due to heaving access to Leftovers recovery and Synthesis. Also Florges doesn't mind Bullet Punch too much from AV Machamp, as Bullet Punch does around
30 to 36% damage, BUT Heavy Slam will do the work for sure, as heavy Slam OHKOes Florges, when Florges comes in on the Heavy Slam or stays in to beat Machamp 1v1 as Machamp can tank due to the AV one Moonblast fur sure.

Calcs:
200+ Atk Machamp Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 121-143 (33.6 - 39.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
200+ Atk Machamp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 65-77 (18 - 21.3%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Stealth Rock
200+ Atk Machamp Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 102-120 (28.3 - 33.3%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Bullet Punch:

200+ Atk Machamp Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 110-130 (30.5 - 36.1%) -- 46.6% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
vs Heavy Slam:
200+ Atk Machamp Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 324-382 (90 - 106.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
in comparison.

0 SpA Florges Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Machamp: 174-206 (45.3 - 53.6%) -- 93.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Florges Moonblast vs. -1 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Machamp: 260-308 (67.7 - 80.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
when Florges comes in on a Close Combat Machamp can still tank a Moonblast afterwards.

Sawk @ Poisinium Z
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Taunt
- Poison Jab
Florges switches in thinking it can beat this karate boi. But it gets a nasty z surprise. Sawk outspeeds florges and OHKOs. Sturdy allows it to live a moonblast so it can switch in (i know its a lure so it wont be doing that much)

Calcs
252 Atk Sawk Acid Downpour (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Florges: 396-468 (110 - 130%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 SpA Florges Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sawk: 288-338 (98.9 - 116.1%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
