RU Threat List

What EV's and moves run the most common Cresselia sets right now?

I'm not sure about EVs, but I see a lot of Calm Mind/Psychic/Ice Beam/Moonlight variants. There's also variants that run a similar set but with a status move (Toxic/Thunder Wave) over either attack move. There's also Dual Screeners that typically run Reflect/Light Screen/Thunder Wave/(Psychic/Lunar Dance)

The most common sets are definitely dual screens and CM or SubCM. Pretty much all Cresselia sets will run max HP, the rest goes into Defence, Sp.Atk or Spe and really depends on player preference since Cresselia appreciates all those stats. I don't wanna hazard a guess what other people are running but I have been using a max Defence Cresselia as a physical wall and on my Calm Mind set I run some Spe and some Sp.Atk. Whatever the investment, Cresselia will still be bulky as hell and moderately fast.

Along with Gorebyss (and Huntail, who everyone forgets and is just a physical variant of Gorebyss), Venomoth, and Cress, I'm going to dance for joy if Lilligant leaves.

I run 252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Def and a set of Rest/Sleep Talk/Ice Beam/Calm Mind

More or less impossible to kill once it sets up without stuff like Megahorns and the like.

on my smashpass team which peaked top 20 in like a day with minimal effort, im just running dualscreens...dont remember the set. i have it as an rmt if you care enough to go find it.

Smashpassing hasn't been too bad for me, and neither has Venemoth or Yanmega. However, Cresselia is a total BITCH to take down, especially the rest variants who don't give two shits about Toxic which is how I deal with it. Ban Cresselia (hopefully) and the rest can stay.

I think that if we ban Venomoth, we should ban Lilligant too. It has a higher speed stata and two great abilities. The only thin Venomoth has over Liligant is a movepool that has SLIGHTLY better coverage and baton pass, which is quite a feat, but Lilligant has some other tricks, such as Own Tempo Petal Dance and Chlorophyll for a sun team. Venomoth may be slightly more of a threat, but Lilligant is something we can't ignore either.

we wouldn't be actively banning anything. they'd get pushed up to UU by their usage in UU, and at least two pokes will move up because Chomp and Kyrem got banned from OU and UU, respectively, and with all things constant, Venomoth and Lilligant will both be UU after the new stats come out.

Yeah...while Magcargo is one of my favorite Pokemon, it's still fairly awful. Don't bother trying a Shell Smash set. It doesn't work.

Thanks man. And what about SubCres?

Glad to see this thread has calmed down a bit... When do the new usage stats come out? It'll be interesting to see what goes down as well as what goes up. Now that's sun's gone things like Charizard and Sawsbuck may be coming down. Sawsbuck especially could be a good physical sweeper, absorbing things like sleep powder to raise it's attack. I really hope Honchkrow goes, although I doubt it seeing as Staraptor is in UU and is much superior.

I don't think either of those two will have any effect on the metagame. Charizard is outclassed by Moltres in almost every situation and Sawsbuck is outclassed by Bouffulant as a Sap Sipping Swords Dancer.

No I didn't think Charizard would be any use. But Sawsbuck may have an advantage over Bouffalant due to it's speed. Although base 95 still isn't great when you have Yanmega running around. I didn't realise Bouffalant got Swords Dance anyway. Ahh well... It may be worth a try?

You'd probably use the same sort of set on a SubCM Cress. Calm Minding Cresselias aren't supposed to be deadly sweepers, they're supposed to be absurdly bulky and capable of getting to plus 6 where they can THEN sweep. So maximize HP and physical defense and that's all that matters.

A Hazer might work, but are there any worthy Haze users to annoy and eventually force out a CMing Cresselia in RU?

Also, Charizard can run a Dragon Dance set better than Moltres, and it also has higher speed and access to Belly Drum which makes it slightly more threatening.

If i'm remembering correctly, Murkrow is in RU, and priority Hazing is always fun =D Also Amoongus has Clear Smog, which is fun as well, and he's actually decently bulky by himself, so he might be the better choice

Gastrodon is probably my favorite Clear Smog user. Especially since not many people see it coming.

I never thought of using priority Haze with Mukrow...that's a pretty insane strategy! Thanks for bringing that one up!

No probs! I think a lot of people forget that Murkrow is actually RU and not UU lol :3
