Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I like this Balance core because you can fit a lot of Pokemons around it, Pokemon weak to stealth rocks or hazards in general.
This core excels in a balanced or defensive team.
I would recommend this to anyone trying to build a new team just because of the possibilities for the other 3 Pokemons.
Its hard to go wrong with this!

eh, sorry for all the slashes but this is what is now considered the base per-say for spikes balance in the current meta and i found myself returning to this core again and again in several variations on several teams (my taunt roost aero balance, 2 versions of my malamar balance, etc). the interactions of zong + garb + toise are quite cool, specifically in terms of maintaining and keeping hazards off the field while retaining good defensive synergy. usually with this core, you would add a psychic check (usually tomb), a wincon (virizion, taunt roost aero, malamar), and some speed control (scarf boar). generally, you will almost never run foresight on toise on this core because you usually won't have the space for heal bell yet it may happen, so i slashed it just for clarity's sake.
Slowking, Drapion, and Aggron are good pokemon that just get better when put on the same team. I wanted to use some mons that would get better with an mlix and ttrum ban, so I chose Drapion and Aggron/ Next, I wanted a Psychic type to complete the sore, and Slowking does a Marvelous job of checking the ground and fighting-types that threaten this team; it also appreciates bulky Psychic types being gone. This core is very versatile, with every mon being able to run multiple sets, as detailed below:
Slowking @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Psyshock
- Fire Blast
- Signal Beam (to lure Malamar)
[10:43] Watchog:(Private to Kableye) can u do the archetypes core post for me
[10:43] Watchog:(Private to Kableye) laptop is broken
he has testing too!
Tough choice but I'll go with Laurens since I can refer myself back to that core more so than slurmz. Mainly because slurmz is a lot more passive. I'm also not a fan of how prone Drangonn.'s core is to Virizion and to CB Aggron / Rhyp
the cores all look pretty nice tbh, but I like hazard stack
if we get one vote, you might want to edit out the part in the OP that says you get two votes :)
