Congratulations to Rey Joya for winning this weeks VotW with his Mismagius submission. Averardo and Katy came in second and third respectively for their sets this week. Hall of Fame entries and Leaderboards have been updated.

Moving on to the next VotW we have...

Golisopod @ Choice Band
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Aqua Jet

[Submission phase ends Monday 6th May]

Toxicroak @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance

Noivern @ Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Taunt
- Roost
- U-turn

Noivern can switch into any attack Golisopod goes for as neither of Golisopods STABs are super effective on it, due to Noiverns excellent typing in Flying and Dragon.
Noivern can also go for Roost as It's faster than Golisopod and can Roost off the damage it took upon the switchin into First Impression, Leech Life or Liquidation.
However Noivern loses the flying type when it Roosts the damage and thus making a Choice Band boosted Adamant Leech Life neutral towards it.
But in overall Golisopod gets forced out easily with Noivern; And the water/bug doesn't like Noiverns presence in the opposing team making Noivern an excellent check.

Calcs:
252 SpA Noivern Hurricane vs. 168 HP / 0 SpD Golisopod: 320-380 (96 - 114.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Golisopod First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Noivern: 141-167 (45.3 - 53.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

EVs: 196 HP / 252 Def / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald / Haze / Dragon Tail

Physically defensive Dragalge is a great counter to Golisopod. It can switch in on any of Golisopod's moves, reliably set up a layer or two of Toxic Spikes depending on Golisopod's move of choice, and proceed to 2HKO it/force it out depending on Sludge Wave's roll. Thanks to an excellent ability in Adaptability, Dragalge can hit Golisopod hard even without offensive investment. 60 Spe EVs are invested to speed creep Golisopod.

0 SpA Adaptability Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 168 HP / 0 SpD Golisopod: 146-172 (43.8 - 51.6%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Adaptability Dragalge Draco Meteor vs. 168 HP / 0 SpD Golisopod: 200-236 (60 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Golisopod Liquidation vs. 196 HP / 252+ Def Dragalge: 85-101 (26.5 - 31.5%) -- 20.2% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Counterplay becomes a lot more tricky when you add Drill Run into the equation, but thats fine. Let me add something here

Mantine @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 16 SpA / 108 SpD / 136 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Scald
- Air Slash
- Roost

Not the most flavorful choice right now but it has its uses with Golisopod Donphan Grasses Meta being very trendy in the metagame. Speaking of the Goli, this is a very suitable hard check to even drill run variants thanks to the ground immunity, immunity to jet and liquidation thanks to water absorb and resistance to bug (altho it will do a ton of damage, awful physical tank) however air slash will always put it on emergency exit range, effectively forcing it out. Only way Goli can beat it is getting many roost reads right all the time

16+ SpA Mantine Air Slash vs. 168 HP / 0 SpD Golisopod: 168-198 (50.4 - 59.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 92 SpA / 56 SpD
Bold Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power Ice

Tangela has many ways to provide itself as a counter to Zygarde 10% with a good defensive stat coupled with Eviolite and its amazing ability in Regenerator.
It is also able to Knock the Choice Band off from Zygarde 10% and with Leech Seed it can gain health back in a secondary way. When Zygarde 10% tries
to switchout the teammate from Zygarde 10% also might suffer a Knock off / Leech Seed or an offensive Attack in Leaf Storm or Hidden Power Ice.
Leaf Storm also has a good damage output on Zygarde, same with Hidden Power Ice, both moves can hit it relatively hard with the latter of those have a high chance to OHKO Zygarde.
Also CB Zygarde 10% is often locked into its most spamable Attack in Thousand Arrows and Tangela eats up its Thousand Arrows like nothing due to its good physical bulk.

Virizion's decent bulk coupled alongside it's Grass typing allows it to pivot in on Zygarde's Thousand Arrows. Due to Synthesis it can do this many times, as well as use Zygarde for settup fodder via Swords Dance. You really got to watch out for Toxic, though, because that'll mess you up.
