Sludge Bomb hits Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Chinchou and Shellder. The few Pokemon that resist Salandit's STAB combination, such as Glimmet and Mareanie, are hit super effectively by Tera Blast Psychic, which also allows Salandit to OHKO Mienfoo. Protect blocks Mienfoo's Fake Out, the most common form of priority, and lets Salandit scout for defensive Tera types. Trapinch is an excellent partner, as it can trap and remove threats such as Alolan Diglett and Elekid, which outspeed Salandit and threaten super effective damage; Stunky; which threatens Salandit with Sucker Punch; and Glimmet, allowing Tera to be preserved. Pivots such as Mienfoo and Vullaby can bring Salandit into favorable matchups against their checks like Foongus and Tinkatink.
