Salazzle @ Black Sludge / Heavy-Duty Boots
Name: Toxic Spreader (Poison)
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Toxic
- Flamethrower
- Encore
- Substitute / Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
With Corrosion, Salazzle can inflict Toxic onto key defensive threats like Heatran, Empoleon, Amoonguss, and Toxapex, greatly decreasing their longevity. Flamethrower gives Salazzle some offensive pressure, letting it force out Steel-, Grass-, and Ice-type threats like Gholdengo, Brambleghast, and Alolan Sandslash. With Salazzle's high Speed, Encore can prevent threats like Sinistcha, Ursaluna-B, Okidogi, and Hydreigon from setting up, as well as lock Kingambit into Sucker Punch or Swords Dance. Substitute paired with Black Sludge can allow Salazzle to accumulate Toxic damage on slower threats like Hisuian Goodra, along with finding repeated chances to safely set up Substitutes against foes that cannot break through them like Galarian Weezing and Amoonguss to effortlessly spread Toxic. Protect racks up Black Sludge healing and allows safe scouting against Choice-locked threats like Iron Valiant, Greninja, and Flutter Mane. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Salazzle to come in safely and land a Toxic.

With Salazzle's crippling Ground-type weakness, Galarian Weezing serves as a crucial ally thanks to its Ground immunity, being able to safely switch in on threats like Great Tusk, Mamoswine, and Quagsire, and ability to remove Stealth Rock to give Salazzle safe entry. Amoonguss helps to force out pesky Ground- and Water-types like Great Tusk, Gastrodon, and Ogerpon-W with Giga Drain and Foul Play. It can also use Spore to allow Salazzle safe entry to get up a free Substitute, while in return Amoonguss appreciates the removal of Steel-types like Gholdengo and Corviknight, which can use it as setup fodder. With its immense physical bulk and access to STAB Surf and Haze, Toxapex can deal with threats such as Chien-Pao, Scizor, and Kleavor, while Salazzle limits foes like Articuno and Thundurus-T that majorly threaten Toxapex. Unaware Clodsire checks special setup sweepers like Kommo-o and Volcarona while also providing additional chip damage with Stealth Rock. Alolan Muk's superb special bulk and access to Knock Off and Poison Jab allow it to easily handle Ghost-type threats that force Salazzle out like Flutter Mane and Hisuian Zoroark. Overqwil, while not as specially bulky, can still serve as a solid Psychic- and Ghost-type response and works much better against threats like Gallade, Ceruledge, and Dragapult thanks to its high physical bulk and Intimidate. Galarian Slowking can create Future Sight traps to force in the team's opposing Dark-type or special walls like Alolan Muk and Hisuian Goodra, which Salazzle can take advantage of by getting in safely to either land a Toxic or set up a Substitute. Galarian Slowking also helps Salazzle by dealing with deadly special attackers like Volcanion, Iron Moth, and Walking Wake. Okidogi majorly appreciates Salazzle's Toxic shutting down bulky walls like Skeledirge, Quagsire, and Galarian Weezing by putting them on timers, and in return Okidogi handles threats like Heatran, Garganacl, and Kingambit with Drain Punch. Sneasler can use U-turn to bring Salazzle in on walls like Amoonguss, Klefki, and Toxapex and use them as an opportunity to get up a Substitute or land a critical Toxic. Meanwhile, Sneasler removes threats like Enamorus, Iron Valiant, and Kingambit. Choice Specs Icy Wind Gengar helps majorly in removing Gliscor, which can effortlessly switch into Salazzle thanks to Poison Heal. Thanks to STAB Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt, Gengar also helps in removing key threats like Landorus, Hatterene, and Dondozo, which majorly threaten Salazzle.

Salazzle's unique traits helps it carve out a very important role on Poison teams as a highly dangerous Toxic spreader. (filler) With Corrosion, it Salazzle can inflict Toxic onto key defensive threats like Heatran, Empoleon, Amoonguss, and Toxapex, greatly decreasing their longevity. Flamethrower gives Salazzle some offensive pressure forcing out Steel-, Grass-, and Ice-type threats like Gholdengo, Breloom, and Alolan Sandslash (Breloom is not really a problem for Poison mono. Maybe try a Grass-type that can be a problem like Shell Smash Torterra or Meowscarada whose Knock Off can be a problem). With Salazzle's high speed, Encore can mess up setup ("mess up setup" can be phrased better: for ex, prevent threats like Sinistcha, Ursa-B, Okidogi from setting up and sweeping) from threats like Sinistcha, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, and Okidogi (mention Baxcalibur, SD EQ is a huge threat for poison) along with being able to lock Kingambit into Sucker Punch (or Swords Dance). Substitute paired with Black Sludge can allow Salazzle to setup 5 Substitutes in a row to stall threats out like Clodsire and Gastrodon (why are you trying to stall these? They lose 5 EQ PP maximum. Sentence should be rephrased to indicate that Salazzle can use it to accumulate Toxic damage on these Pokemon. Substitute is better used for scouting slow threats and pairs well with Encore. Try to give examples that suit this usage of Sub more.) along with getting repeated chances to safely setup Substitutes against threats foes that cannot break through (wouldn't call them threats if they can't break through) like Galarian Weezing and Amoonguss to effortlessly spread Toxic. Protect and Heavy-Duty Boots provide safe entry and safe scouting against Choice-locked threats like Iron Valiant, Greninja, and Flutter Mane (Separate the sentences about HDB and Protect. Write about Protect first: how Protect helps to scout faster foes (keyword here being faster foes, since Sub helps vs slower opponents) like Greninja, Chien-Pao and Flutter Mane. Also mention Protect+Toxic as a good Toxic Stall combination. Then mention why HDB can be run over Sludge). Running 8 Special Attack EVs allows for Flamethrower to OKHO OHKO Chien-Pao.

With a crippling Ground-type weakness, Galarian Weezing serves as a crucial ally thanks to its Ground immunity, being able to safetly safely switch-in on threats like Great Tusk, Mamoswine, and Quagsire along with removing Stealth Rocks Stealth Rock to give Salazzle safe entry and in return appreicates appreciates Salazzle cooking threatening Steel-types like Gholdengo and Scizor (Salazzle can't switch into Gholdengo safely, Tinkaton and Corviknight are better examples imo). Amoonguss helps to threaten force out pesky Ground- and Water-types like Great Tusk, Gastrodon, and Urshifu-R with its Grass-type stab Giga Drain. It can also use Spore to allow Salazzle safe entry to safely get up a Substitute and recover with Black Sludge. (Give some examples on how Salazzle helps Amoonguss in return) Toxapex with its immense physical bulk can deal with threats such as Chien-Pao, Ceruledge, and Kleavor with its access to STAB Surf and Haze. (Mention how Salazzle helps to limit foes that threaten Toxapex, like Flutter Mane, Thundurus-T, and Articuno by putting them on a timer) Alolan Muk's superb speical special bulk and access to Knock Off and Poison Jab allows for it to easily handle Ghost- and Psychic-type threats that threaten force Salazzle out like Flutter Mane, Hisuian Zoroark, Espathra, and Hatterene with its STABs. Overqwil, while not as specially bulky, can still serve as a solid Ghost- and Dark-type response and works much better into threats like Gallade and Dragapult (how so? mention Intimidate. Clear Body Dragapult is immune to Intimidate so it's a better switchin for Phantom Force and Shadow Ball only). Galarian Slowking can create Future Sight traps to force in the team's opposing Dark-type or special wall walls like Alolan Muk, Ting-lu, and Hisuian Goodra which Salazzle can take advantage of by getting in safely (Salazzle can't safely land Toxic on Ting-Lu) to either land a Toxic or set up a Subsutite Substitute. Galarian Slowking also helps Salazzle by dealing with deadly special attackers like Volcanion, Iron Moth, and Walking Wake (mention how Toxapex, Amoonguss and Galarian Slowking together form a Regenerator core, covering eachother's weaknesses and how Salazzle putting offensive threats on timer aids their longetivity). Okidogi majorly appreciates Salazzle's Toxic wearing down bulky walls like Skeledirge, Quagsire and Galarian Weezing by putting them on timers and in return it Okidogi handles monsters threats like Heatran, Garganacl, and Kingambit with its STAB Drain Punch (split this sentence into two: one suggesting Salazzle's usefulness and the other suggesting Okidogi's usefulness). Sneasler can use U-turn to bring Salazzle in on Sneasler switch ins walls like Amoonguss, Klefki, and Toxapex and use them as an opportunity to get up a Substitute or land a critical Toxic or use its STABs Flamethrower to remove threats like Enamorus, Iron Valiant, or Kingambit (the wording here led me to believe you were removing Enam, Val and Gambit with the help of Salazzle and not Sneasler. If that was the intended meaning then neither Pokemon are removed by Salazzle's STABs (here; only Flamethrower since that's the set you're writing about). If it was Sneasler, rephrase the sentence to reflect that). Choice Specs Icy Wind Gengar helps majorly in removing Gliscor which can effortlessly switch into Salazzle thanks to Posion Heal. Gengar also helps in removing key threats like Landorus, Hatterene, and Dondozo (using moves like Icy Wind, Sludge Bomb and Thunderbolt) which majorly threaten Salazzle. (Add Glimmora and mention how Glimmora and Salazzle can form a Corrosion core together, also Air Balloon Glimmora can switchin to Ground-type attacks for Salazzle and remove rocks with Mortal Spin. It can also threaten Great Tusk with Energy Ball. Mention Water Absorb Clodsire as a switch-in to Water-type threats like Scarf Walking Wake, Scarf Urshifu-R, Basculegion-F.)

Gonna talk back for a few of these.
(Breloom is not really a problem for Poison mono. Maybe try a Grass-type that can be a problem like Shell Smash Torterra or Meowscarada whose Knock Off can be a problem)
Neither of these work for Salazzle since Torterra before it shell smashes can still just kill you with Rock Blast (You don't kill without investment and Overheat see other options for clarification) and if it does shell smash on you going for a flamethrower/Toxic, You're fucking dead or have to dance around it and its possible coverage (Don't wanna switch Geezing in on Heavy Slam now do we?). Meowscarada Does like 62% with knock and you lose either sludge or boots which cripples Salazzle and in response you do 57.3% Max with Flamethrower (Invested Overheat does not kill).
Also Breloom can be an issue for Poison depending on its coverage since Bulldoze still hurts a bit and spore which forces something out of commission thanks to sleep (except for Moong, which could be abused by something else switching in.)

Clear Body Dragapult is immune to Intimidate
Is Clear Body Dragapult relevant? The tier has like 5 Intimidate mons worth running and out of that small list, only Lando-T is ranked in A (and I don't even see it on a common enough occurrence since everyone is running Lando-I for how stronk it is). Every sample set/team with Drag uses Infiltrator.

(using moves like Icy Wind, Sludge Bomb and Thunderbolt)
More a nitpick here but you don't really run Sludge Bomb on Specs Gengar Poison. Trick is a much better option for the last slot for option (Also Specs Shadowball beats Hatt anyway so you don't need to worry about that and it avoids Klef/Tink getting in for free).

okay, i'll bite
if it does shell smash on you going for a flamethrower/Toxic, You're fucking dead or have to dance around it and its possible coverage (Don't wanna switch Geezing in on Heavy Slam now do we?)
this actually helps my case, torterra is a problem for poison one way or another, putting it on a timer is REALLY handy. i'd rather lose salazzle as long as i can get it on a timer and the best guy to do it is either salazzle or amoonguss, but amoonguss isn't touching grass mono unless it's running poison STAB. meowscarada is something i can agree with obviously it takes a lot of damage but this is again weighing whats more important to you. from a paper perspective salazzle may seem important in the grass mu but you are poison mono after all. as long as you get their speed control and knock support on timer you're basically invincible. if you disagree with the meow aspect, then that's fine, but i think putting tort on a timer in exchange for salazzle is huge for poison.
Breloom can be an issue for Poison depending on its coverage since Bulldoze
most brelooms run spore bullet seed mach and rock tomb as coverage for flying (on grass mono). bulldoze has 11.865% of usage on breloom in october i highly doubt a lot of people run that, it's a very niche scenario which i don't think is worth mentioning in an analyse. again like you mentioned, spore is just a free switchin for amoonguss, if ur anticipating a double then you too can outplay.
Is Clear Body Dragapult relevant?
yes, it helps you to not lose vs ribombee webs. it's definitely worth considering imo, since it's an analyse you wanna cover all bases (at least with abilities, you could say that about breloom's moves too but it has a lot of moves and you can't consider the more niche ones) and dragapult only has 3 abilities, out of which only 1 requires a special mention wrt overqwil, which in and of itself doesn't see much usage on poison.
More a nitpick here but you don't really run Sludge Bomb on Specs Gengar Poison
you can mention shadow ball then, that's fine. i said sludge with respect to hatterene only but becuz it has 10 more bp over shadow ball but yeah what you said is definitely better and more considerate.

hope that clears some stuff, it's your analyse at the end of the day but i think these things are definitely worth mentioning.

With Corrosion, Salazzle can inflict Toxic onto key defensive threats like Heatran, Empoleon, Amoonguss, and Toxapex, greatly decreasing their longevity. Flamethrower gives Salazzle some offensive pressure forcing out Steel-, Grass-, and Ice-type threats like Gholdengo, Brambleghast, and Alolan Sandslash. With Salazzle's high speed, Encore can prevent threats like Sinistcha, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, Okidogi, and Hydreigon Baxcalibur (Bax can run DD too so I prefer another setup sweeper) from setting up along with being able to lock Kingambit into Sucker Punch or Swords Dance. Substitute paired with Black Sludge can allow Salazzle to setup 5 Substitutes in a row to accumulate Toxic damage on slower threats like Hisuian Goodra along with getting repeated chances to safely setup Substitutes against foes that cannot break through like Galarian Weezing and Amoonguss to effortlessly spread Toxic. Protect provides Black Sludge healing and safe scouting against Choice-locked threats like Iron Valiant, Greninja, and Flutter Mane. Heavy-Duty Boots provides safe entry allowing Salazzle to come in and land a Toxic. Running 8 4 Special Attack EVs allows Flamethrower to OHKO Chien-Pao. (4 SpA Salazzle Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Chien-Pao: 302-356 (100.3 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO)

With a crippling Ground-type weakness, Galarian Weezing serves as a crucial ally thanks to its Ground immunity, being able to safely switch-in on threats like Great Tusk, Mamoswine, and Quagsire along with removing Stealth Rock to give Salazzle safe entry and in return appreciates Salazzle threatening Steel-types like Tinkaton and Scizor (You don't want to risk Chip / Knock Off / Thunder Wave on Salazzle just to preserve G-Weez in a Steel MU as Salazzle's longetivity is way more important than a mon that does kinda nothing if not defogging which can easily be blocked by Gholdengo; against Scizor u prolly even prefer to straight away click Will-O-Wisp or just go Pex.I would just delete or eventually talk how Salazzle is helpful against mirror Poison teams but you already did this in the first paragraph). Amoonguss helps to force out pesky Ground- and Water-types like Great Tusk, Gastrodon, and Urshifu-R (I don't like Urshifu-R as an example as it can still run other sets than SD or some coverage that takes some useful chip on Amoonguss when u can more easily scout it with Toxapex. I would replace with Ogerpon-Wellspring as it is a much more problem than Urshifu) with its Giga Drain. It can also use Spore to allow Salazzle safe entry to safely get up a Substitute while in return Amoonguss appreciates the removal of Steel-types like Gholdengo and Corviknight which can use Amoonguss as setup bait fodder. Toxapex with its immense physical bulk can deal with threats such as Chien-Pao, Ceruledge (SD Ceru still does a lot of damages with Poltergeist, especially with Adamant which has been using a couple of times in tours recently so it can be convenient to just Toxic it in some games instead of risking to lose a mon just to end up going back into Salazzle to Toxic it; replace with Scizor/Urshifu-R), and Kleavor with its access to STAB Surf and Haze while limiting foes like Articuno and Thundurus-T that majorly threaten Toxapex. (Most of Clodsire's in Poison are Unaware as u already have Guss+Pex, just mention how Unaware Clod can check special setup Sweepers like Gholdengo and Volcarona?) Water Absorb Clodsire handles Water-type threats like Walking-Wake, Scarf Urshifu-R, and Basculegion-F. Alolan Muk's superb special bulk and access to Knock Off and Poison Jab allows for it to easily handle Ghost- and Psychic-type threats that force Salazzle out like Flutter Mane, Hisuian Zoroark, Espathra, and Hatterene. Overqwil, while not as specially bulky, can still serve as a solid Ghost- and Dark-type response and works much better into threats like Gallade, Ceruledge and Dragapult thanks to its high physical bulk and Intimidate.
