Overview

Welcome to the Ubers Sample Team Archive! Here you will find a collection of solid teams from a variety of Ubers generations that are ready to be used by aspiring players. Everyone is welcome to submit a team, but in order to maintain a quality archive teams are subject to approval by their corresponding council. Councils are looking for teams that are structurally sound, representative of their generation, and widely used. Team submissions should not be excessively difficult to use or feature tactics that are especially gimmicky.

Councils

USM: Cynara | Lacus Clyne | Minority | TBA

Team Submission Guidelines

  • An importable of the team is required.
  • An explanation of how the team works and what each member does is required. This explanation should highlight the intent behind the team and needs to be well-written. Use of personal pronouns and improper grammar in team descriptions is discouraged. You may also include any success the team has had on the ladder or in tournament play.
  • An appropriate name for your team is preferred. Be tasteful!
  • Posting mini-sprites along with your team is preferred.
  • Posting teams with your personal Speed creep is discouraged.
  • Do not submit importables with slashes on moves, items, etc.
  • Do not submit teams that have been RMTed or previously posted by someone other than yourself.
  • Do not "ghost post" for other users. Submissions made by subsequently banned users may be rejected.
  • Do not submit more than one team at a time. Submissions made before the previous submission has been accepted, pending, or rejected will be ignored.
  • A submitted team will be added if agreed upon by the corresponding council.
  • A "pending" team requires further deliberation and may or may not be added at some point in the future.
  • Discussing a rejection is not allowed. Once a team is rejected, It's irreversible.
  • A team may be resubmitted only if it has undergone a significant structural change.
Criterion: We are looking for teams that are simple to use, are representative of the tier, and have strong elements that combat the major threats of their respective tier. There will be no preference given to particular archetypes or styles of builds - we are simply looking for ease of use, reflection of the tier, and good team structures.

This hyper offense team makes use of Necrozma-DM's ability to sweep or break bulky obstacles. Primal Groudon is the team’s Stealth Rock setter and equipped with Overheat to help open defensive teams alongside Xerneas and Mega Salamence. Xerneas checks Dark- and Dragon-types. Mega Salmanece checks physical attackers and functions as a status sponge to help support the other setup sweepers. The last two members are anti-offense Pokémon that appreciate Necrozma-DM's ability to blast through defensive threats. E-Killer provides a Ghost immunity and can revenge kill set-up sweepers thanks to its strong priority. Marshadow helps against Mega Gengar, Necrozma forms, and setup sweepers.

This is a take on a standard Sticky Web HO team with enough support to punish common hazard removers in the tier and keep webs down. Arceus-Ghost is one of the better SD Arceus on Webs at the moment. Along with it's offensive prowess, it provides a critical spin block for a webs team. Arceus-Ghost + Mega Lucario tear most defensive backbones with webs down. LO Taunt Yveltal + SD SR Primal Groudon provide additional stall breaking potential. Taunt Yveltal also help prevents defog from common defoggers and shuts down support Arceus formes.The team struggles with Jolly Defog Mence, like most Sticky Web teams, but the team has techs to play around with such as Ghostium on Arceus-Ghost, and SD Primal Groudon that can punish it. While Jolly Mence can get a defog off, it usually has to sack itself to do so, which allows you to get SR up for the rest of the game with the defogger removed, otherwise you play with sticky web up. Adamant Lucario can be considered on this team for more damage output - but the team will struggle more against Adamant Salamence and +Speed Yveltal. Chinese Pdon can be considered over SD SR.

Earthquake Ho-oh is honestly sub-optimal, Toxic is a far better move option. It seems odd running an offensive Ho-oh set on a team like that where Ho-oh works as a nice defensive wall, especially paired with Celesteela which tackles most of Ho-oh's counters. The whole point of the team is supposed to be to capitalize on that core and allow Zygarde to run a liberal set, however with Rest Talk the team is extremely passive. Four mons on the team are mono toxic attackers, and that's honestly a do-nothing team than anything else.

If I were to recommend changes, I'd say Life Orb Ho-oh -----> Defensive Toxic Leftovers
Rest Talk Zygarde -------> Sub Coil Zygarde (Bias obviously included but I feel that's by far the best option)

Also out of curiosity, does SM council just have the right to steal SPL teams and claim it to be theirs? That's technically grounds for plagiarism if you ask me!

So this is quite standard spikes offense wich abuses a really good offensive core of Z Dragon Ascent DD Rayquaza + Salamence. It's fairly easy to use team because most of mons on it share checks so its easy to break them down for certain threats that this team posseses, Ice Beam on Ekiller helps break zygarde and baits Salamence wich helps out my Rayquaza and my own Salamence aswell as makes my Pdon run around basically for free vs more balanced teams, Xerneas is here to just clean up if the 3 first set up sweepers won't break through opponent's team.

ill post my best sm creation after this seasonal is done cause some people in it may still want to use it.

We already talked about this on Discord but just to clear up to everyone what happened here:

1. The version of the team posted was just something dice/Hack had lying around before SPL, it was not intended to be stealing.
2. Rest Zygarde is necessary or the team gets owned by Ho-Oh (otherwise the team lacks status absorption so Toxic/SF burns just kill everything also subcoil zygarde sucks)

Toxic > Earthquake is probably fine though.

This team is fairly simple. Set up rocks and screens with Deoxys-s. Then go to smeargle, put something to sleep, then shell smash and pass into something and sweep. This team is designed as to make sure that even if your baton pass sweep fails, you still have backup sweepers to finish things off, thus you don't lose. Deo s and smeargle are there for obvious reasons. Arceus is there as a form of priority. I stuck mmence on there since I didn't have a mega. I put the primals on there because pdon is the best mon in ubers and pogre is just extra firepower. I made my pdon a special rock polish set because I thought it would be fun and it definitely catches people off guard. Earth Power and Fire blast are stab, hp ice is for stuff that otherwise wall you like rayquaza and mmence, and rock polish allows you to outspeed stuff. All the other sets are standard. One weakness to the team is that your opponent will see what you plan on doing at team preview and will try to stop you if they are experienced. However, as I said, you can still win regardless of if you succeed in baton passing or not.

I made this at the start of the generation and it's worked fairly well. It's simple HO. Excadrill compresses Stealth Rock and hazard removal into one slot. My four sweepers then work together to wear down each other's checks in the hope that one of them can win the game for me. Swords Dance + Rock Polish Primal Groudon offensively checks Xerneas and Primal Kyogre, improves my matchup against Arceus-Water, and ensures that I am not 6-0ed by Z-Geomancy Xerneas. Arceus gives me valuable priority, which is nice for picking off weakened Pokemon after the other three sweepers on my team have finished dealing with them and for grappling with pesky Deoxys-A / other fast Pokemon. Geomancy Xerneas can clean up after Primal Groudon in a lot of cases and offensively checks Yveltal. Salamence checks Primal Groudon and is another way for my team to deal with Ho-Oh thanks to Facade. Lunala is probably the MVP as it acts as a Mega Gengar / Arceus check rolled into one, annoys bulky Arceus-Ground somewhat (which is probably the most irritating thing for this team), and is another way of dealing with Deoxys-A. It appreciates Xerneas being able to remove most Dark-types.

Pretty weird team here showing off Reshiram as a late game cleaner. Arceus-Water is used as our ground resist, running enough speed for Modest Yveltal/Xerneas/Lunala, with Judgment>Ice Beam for SD Arceus-Ground/Rock. Rocks PDon, you could put stone edge over fire punch for ho-oh. LO bulky Ho-Oh for Xerneas/Yveltal. Zeomancy Xerneas as our setup sweeper, w/o ingrain. And finally Sub 3 attacks gar to revenge kill threats like specs lunala, arceus-ghost, ekiller, and lugia. Overall the main strategy when using this team is to break through steels with Ho-Oh/other mons, and either win by setting up with Xern, or a late game Blue Flare Sweep with Reshiram.

will try to add more

pretty standard balance imo, team was built around Mewtwo-Y. standard set from ORAS, with the only change being will-o-wisp instead of taunt or an additional coverage move to nail Alolan Muk on the switch. standard pdon to act as the stealth rock setter and primarily xern answer. Arceus-Water and Celesteela provide the defensive backbone of the team, together taking on basically any physical attacker in the tier, and Arceus-Water also ensures the team isn't 6-0ed by Mega Lucario. Yveltal provides a ghost resist and pressures more defensive teams. finally Xerneas provides a solid wincon because its z geo set literally does not die. it also appreciates waterceus potentially luring in and weakening the steel-types that can check it, as well as Mewtwo revenging Gengar and crippling Muk.

This is a support team I made after the insane rise in z-geomancy xerneas. Arceus-Poison (which could also be replaced with arceus-steel to hit zygarde neutrally) counters this broken xerneas set, aswell as Lucario. Psych-up allows Arceus to copy enemy stat changes and use it to sweep, or put massive dents in opposing teams. Yes, I know this set is walled by Celesteela, but I think it is fine to have earth power for the common pdons. Also Arceus-P's typing allows it to be an excellent toxic fodder. Next up is my Pdon counter, Zygarde-C. Zygarde-C is amazing because of its extremely high hp stat, allowing it to tank special hits with ease, even with no investment. I decided to put toxic>glare to help with the stall matchup. Scarf Yveltal is our cleanup sweeper and revenge killer. This yveltal set is great for the easily spammed deoxys-a/tapu lele psychic spam team, allowing yveltal to catch deoxys off guard and pick up an easy ko with dark pulse or oblivion wing respectively as they try to ohko you with lo ice beam. Standard defensive giratina-o is our backup pdon/pogre checks. Defog support helps out yveltal, and toxic/hex serves as a great balance breaker. Next we have spdef rocks pdon with 3 attacks (stone edge for ho-oh). Pdon doesn't need to much explaining as it should be on every team, but in any case it also fulfills its role as being another Pogre check. And finally we have Zeomancy Xerneas. Although a "frowned upon" set, with not using this, you're probably causing more harm to your team than good. Z-geomancy with max defense allows xerneas to beat/setup on its checks such as ho-oh, muk and pdon. Sleep talk>Ingrain to help keep momentum when asleep.

Witch a slight change, (changed zygarde with a gengar, see below), made me reach 1527 (#346). Excellent team ^^! Especially when Arceus-P psychs up a Z-Geomancy Xerneas.. Ah that feeling! And the scarf'ed Yvetal is seriously good!
Gengar-Mega @ Gengarite
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Destiny Bond
- Sucker Punch

Gengar, with generally high SpA, hits really hard. Now, that team was generally sweep'ed easily by Arceus Normal. With really high speed, even if Arceus has got a swords dance and the only way Arceus can kill Gengar with Shadow Claw and/or Shadow Force, destiny bond can be done, and it's speed always allows it to penetrate through Arceus-Normal. Keep in note that a normal Shadow Claw at full HP does NOT kill Gengar if the Arceus has not done Swords Dance, so don't take the risk of doing destiny bond then.

I haven't been high ladder for a long time (I play under BunsenBurn now), but this team gets pretty messed up by the ferrothorn-lugia core (more specifically spd ferrothorn with rocks, leech, gyro, protect, and defensive lugia with toxic, roar, recover/roost, ice beam). Even with stone edge on pdon, lugia isn't really threatened unless toxiced by another mon, but both Zygarde and Gira-O are walled by ferrothorn. Basically I'm saying this team has a horrible matchup against stall as this team has a hard time breaking through. This team fulfills its purpose as an anti-vario team, but other than that I don't see it very splashable in other matchups. I'll try laddering with Champs version, so far much better at dealing with stall (helps in trapping), but if you are persistant with the original mons I think glare on zygarde will help to deter ice beam carrying arceus-grounds commonly found on stall or twave on Gira-O so it can outspeed lugia, but putting your opponent in that position is next to impossible.

If individual team criticism is discouraged on this thread, feel free to delete this post (just mention it next to the Team Submission Guidelines so it doesn't happen again)

Tbh It is a great team. Psych Up Pceus Fucks Xerneas all the times. Well, Your team will auto lose against Stall. Because you have no Wall/Stall Breakers. To Solve this Problem, Follow my Suggestions:

1.) Change Xerneas to a Magearna with the Nature Calm, Item Leftovers and EV sets 252 HP/ 252 SpDef and 4 Def with the Moves Fleur Cannon, Pain Split, Flash Cannon and Heart Swap. Believe me, This works better than Psych Up Pceus. In additional, This thing checks Yveltal for you. You lack a Steel type then Psychic Spam can fuck your team. So try this Magearna and remove Xerneas.

2.) Arceus-Poison to Arceus-Water with Bold Nature Splash plate Item EV sets 244 HP/ 244 defense and 20 Speed with the moves Ice Beam, Judgment, Toxic, Recover. This gives you a check for Ho-Oh, Mega Salamence, Pdon and Rayquaza. So you can Bravely remove Zygarde-Complete now. You don't need to rn defog.

3.) Zygarde-Complete to Mega Gengar with Timid Nature Gengarite Item EV sets 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed and 4 SpDef with the moves Hex, Will-O-Wisp, Focus Blast and Taunt. Now you can run Mega Gengar because you have Arceus-Rock now to check Ho-Oh. This can check Extreme Killer and Traps Stall mons to death. The best Stallbreaker

4.) Change your Yveltal item to Life Orb Mild Nature EV Sets 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed and 4 Atk with the moves Sucker Punch, Dark Pulse, Oblivion Wing and Heat Wave. This gives you a Strong Wallbreaker to support for Mega Gengar. Checks Lunala and other ghost threats. Sucker Punch Priority helps against MMY.

So Yeah. Now the team will be fine.

Arceus-Water, Mega Gengar, Giratina-O, Primal Groudon, Magearna and Yveltal.

:)

Hey, dont take it bad, but that Gengar set is viable, because its the same niche of Gengar, Trap and Kill / Die with Opposing mon, also Sucker Punch give coverage vs Deoxys-Attack if the team is weak to that.

Also, ur doing the team weaker than before.

insult :
I agree with the thing that removing Zygarde the team is weaker to Ho-Oh, the only change I would do to the team are:

Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 248 HP / 12 Atk / 228 SpD / 20 Spe
Careful Nature
- Fire Punch / Toxic
- Precipice Blades
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic / Stone Edge

Ferrothorn + Lugia can't stop Toxic Groudon, which is pretty cool, because u take them down slowly and can be paired with Giratina-Origin Hex, the team is fine, dont remove the teammates, if you need help, ask it on Ubers room, the experienced users will help you, here anyone can give u wrong advices.

How does that team deal with stall?

Edit : Jhonx, read my full post.

I alrady told U, Toxic Groudon-Primal is enough to pressure most of the current stalls, only Supportceus and Lugia can switch into PDon and Pdon just toxic them, only a idiot would keep Chansey / Clefable vs Pdon and Heal Bell, also, No stallbreakers??? Ingrain Z Geo Xern is a stallbreaker, Toxic Hex Giratina-O pressures a lot of stuff and Primal Groudon is enough to make pressure too, that team is fine already.

Dual Dragons Spikes Offense | Provided by Foggi

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: Hack said no.

==========

Dual Screens Baton Pass HO | Provided by Randompizza

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: The team is not legal to use in Ubers. In pre BP ban Ubers, the team is too gimmicky for this thread and outclassed by other single pass HOs.

==========

Standard Lunala Hyper Offense | Provided by Aurora

Status: Accepted

Reasoning: Rejecting this was strongly considered because the rules of the OP explicitly state that you are not allowed to submit teams that were RMTed previously by other users. This exact team was RMTed not once, but twice prior to this post. Some of the detailing in one of the RMTs in question is probably better. An exception will be made for this team because of how ridiculously intuitive it is, but I'll be rejecting postings of other people's RMTs in the future. The team can have problems vs. SD Arc Ground, offensive P Ogre, Helmet Deo-S, and good Arceus-Dark balances.

==========

An Unsung Peril Bulky Offense | Provided by insult

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: This team struggles in the hazard war, lacks a proper Ghost check, and does not integrate Reshiram very well. This team lacks what we're looking for in a good sample team: solid build and ease of use.

==========

MM2Y Bulky Offense | Provided by Dominatio

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: This team is borderline. While it is not outright weak to a single common Pokemon (maybe Ho-Oh), the structure is somewhat awkward. This team has to rely on trying to trade Mewtwo for damage on a key defensive mon for Xern / Yveltal to win when facing defensive teams. Offensive breaking is this team's only option vs. good defensive teams as it lacks staying power. Against offensive teams the only major chance it has to take their momentum is via Z Geo Xern.

==========

Wristwork | Provided by insult

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: Read the rules of the OP. It was even bolded. Do not submit more than one team at a time. Submissions made before the previous submission has been accepted or rejected will be ignored.

==========

Mega Gengar + Ho-Oh Balance | Provided by Norman2509

Status: Rejected

Reasoning: This team is very close to getting things right, but the Yveltal should be scarfed and the hazard war is rough. This version of the build is not polished enough to be added.

Ya heres another one that probs wont be accepted, but ill leave it here for anyone who wants to try it out. For this team I built around sub disable gar as a very nice stallbreaker/trapper. For instance against Lance Stall, Gar is able to trap clef and Lugia, 1v1 tenta after disabling scald, and even annoy Arceus-G/other mons a bit if they don't have 2 attacking moves. With these threats gone, it opens the door for Yveltal to run havoc, knock off + dark pulse is almost a guaranteed ko on ho-oh. Also with Clef gone; celesteela, ho-oh and pdon can use toxic without the annoyance of heal bell lurking in the back. Yes this team is weak to stealth rocks seeing as we have ho-oh and yveltal on the team, but it hasn't rly been an issue seeing as I have a speedy defogger in Arceus-G. Overall this team is more suited to counter stall teams, but it can also have success versus HO and BO as seen in the replay. (Should I put sludge bomb > sludge wave for poison damage?)

Team is Near to perfect tbh. Just run Roar on Primal Groudon and remove Toxic just because of Geoxern.
