SandSharks: An SS RMT. [Pre Chomp Ban, looking for suggestions!]

Hey guys. I was going to post this team up earlier but forgot, and now that Chomp's banned, i am really looking for a replacement of him. I think the team also is more offensively based, but thats my opinion.

Aqua_Tyranitar_Sprite_by_vrikrar.png

Black Santa (Tyranitar) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 176 SAtk / 80 SDef
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam

So this is my Tyranitar set. Sets up rocks, takes care of Latios, steels, and other dragon threats with ice beam. Nothing to really say about this guy either. I have pursuit so that i can catch politoed or Ninetales off guard when they switch out.

Garchomp (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Now that Garchomp's banned i'm looking for a replacement here. This is the standard SubDance Chomp set with his 2 stab moves. I go for Jolly so that i can get some extra speed which is very important this gen. Not really much i want to say about Chomp since he is ubers now and i want to try and replace him.

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Power Whip

Okay, so this is another kinda standard set for Ferrothorn. I have thunder wave for pokemon that can avoid my Toxic Spikes put down by Tentacruel. I have Leech Seed for some recovery for Ferrothorn and other pokes. Spikes for damage on switches, and Powerwhip for a STAB attacking move, and to not be Taunt-Bait.

Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 192 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Knock Off
- Scald

This is my special wall along with Tyranitar. I gave it some Defense EVs so it can take some hits. Rapid Spin to get rid of Stealth Rock and Spikes. Toxic Spikes to poison pokes and force them to switch out to prevent from fainting. Knock off speeds up this process, and Scald is for pokes that switch in on me that i might be able to burn if they resist Toxic Spikes.

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- X-Scissor

This is your main sweeper in the sand Excadrill. Standard set also, with Swords Dance, Earthquake, Rock Slide, and X-Scissor. Nothing to really say about him because this is a standard set and everyone probably used an exact replica of this set at one time.

Gliscor_Sprite_by_mvidmaster.png

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Swords Dance

Gliscor is my favorite physical wall, because he resists so many threats, and has the potential to sweep as well. This is my favorite set, with protect to gain extra life, EQ for stab, Ice Fang to take out opposing Gliscs and other pokes that resist EQ, and Swords Dance for an attack boost! Honestly what more could you want in a poke!

So thats the team. Please rate, and give a suggestion for a replacement for chomp. Thanks!

For a Garchomp replacement, I recommend a Choice Scarf Flygon... he's not nearly as powerful or fast, and has no boosting moves but he gets the job done.

Flygon@Choice Scarf
-Outrage
-U-turn
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
4spa/252atk/252spe
Jolly(+Spe, -SpA)
Levitate

The power drop is notaceable but meh.. hope this helped!

Scarf/Choice Band Haxorus is a deadly pokemon. Either outspeed stuff and destory, or smash them hard with a +1 Outrage. Try it out.. worked wonders for me.

While nothing can fully replace Garchomp, a Substitute Landorus set can function very similarly and make for an effective sand abuser. Sand Force boosts Earthquake to 195 BP and Stone Edge to 130 BP, so Landorus can be extremely deadly even without a boosting move. I'd go with the following set:

Landorus (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Basically nothing short of Skarmory or Bronzong (also SubChomp checks) does a good job of combating this set. HP Ice provides one of the biggest advantages to this team by allowing Landorus to lure in and KO Gliscor, which will often pave the way for a clean Excadrill sweep.

Tyranitar could go with a Sassy nature to help more against Latios. I'd also recommend having Crunch over Ice Beam, as Landorus will take over as a Gliscor lure. Besides, you need the extra power for Reuniclus. In fact, you may want to try out a Chople Berry so you can take a Focus Blast and 2HKO with Crunch. It'll also help against Deoxys-S leads running Superpower.

Excadrill should probably go with LO if you're Jolly, and Balloon if you're Adamant. You have opposing Excadrill handled with Gliscor, so you don't have to worry about speed ties. Speaking of Gliscor, I tend to prefer Taunt over Protect. It's mostly personal preference, but I like being able to shut down Ferrothorn / Skarmory from setting up. Hope I helped; good luck!

chomp isn't banned yet, he's just a suspect. mence filled his shoes in very well last gen after the ban, and theres really nothing stopping him this gen, except for weather sweepers, which will hopefully be banned too. ye, remember he isn't really banned yet

Edit: o yeah, he is. at least people will start using mence

chomp is banned now
it's already posted in the policy review subforum
you could give a double dance terrakion
sorry i cant type too much gotta go dig a holeliterally

The Tyranitar does have a point Flygon is like chomp but you kind of have a problem with Rotom-W if Forn is down

I'd recommend Dragon Dance Jolly Haxorus with the set of

Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Brick Break
Life Orb / Lum Berry/Leftovers
Mold Breaker
Adamant
36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spe
I always go for leftovers but that's your decision.

Scouting is useful, i agree, but it doesnt fill the gap left by Garchomp. Imo, the Sub Landorus set given by Faladran, along with the TTar changes, is the best option.

But well, you got to try different sets and see whats better for the actual game and for your playstyle.
