Sandy Shocks is a niche pivot thanks to its ability to switch into threats like Tornadus-T and Tapu Koko. Tera Blast with Tera Ice allows Sandy Shocks to blast through Ground- and Flying-types that are immune to its STAB moves like Garchomp, Dragonite, and most notably, Landorus-T. Alternatively, Tera Grass with Tera Blast is another option to hit Mega Swampert and Gastrodon super effectively and gives it a resistance to Ground, although it becomes completely ruined by Gliscor. If not using Tera Blast, Stealth Rock and Spikes allow Sandy Shocks to support its teammates by wearing down threats like Skeledirge, Gholdengo, and Tornadus-T. Tera Ground allows Sandy Shocks to boost the power of Earth Power, take less entry hazard damage, and shed its Ground weakness. Pokemon that appreciate being safely brought in like Heatran, Dragapult, and Annihilape against threats to it such as Ferrothorn, Dragonite, and Weavile are great partners for Sandy Shocks. Knock Off support from Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Great Tusk allows Sandy Shocks to capitalize on chipping down switch-ins like Dragonite and Tornadus-T. Sandy Shocks struggles against Ground-types without Tera Blast or if another teammate Terastallizes, therefore, Pokemon that threaten them such as Kartana, Walking Wake, and Weavile are great teammates.
