2. Introduction

With Official Ladder Tournament going on i put some efforts in to climb high and have a chance of maintaining one of the 8 slots that qualify for the next round. I was able to hit 2k+ with this build couple of days earlier but then got some games that didnt go my way, dropped back down and since then struggled to get back up. This team is a result of all this, it was one of the teams i used in my attempt to qualify that did well for me using :arcanine-hisui:to nuke various unsuspected threats and players. Its a team that does rely on the surprise factor as u get heavily rewarded when the scarf :arcanine-hisui: tech gets those surprise kills but im posting it in this RMT cuz i feel its a well structured team that can function on its own too even when people see it coming and switch vs the scarf :arcanine-hisui:. I enjoyed it alot as it uses this fun pokemon which i find it a very cool and powerful threat but not exactly used v much, it did quite well for me so i wanted to share it with ya all.

3. Teambuilding Process

So the build obviously started with Hisuian-Arcanine :arcanine-hisui:. I wanted to build around it because i thought this Choice Scarf set can match quite well vs what i was facing in high ladder at the time. Alot of :ribombee: leads that u can nuke with Tera Rock, alot of Dragapults, Darkrais, Kyurem, Adamant or Bulky Gouging Fires, Iron Moths that need to invest tera to progress vs it etc. I also saw a ton of :landorus-therian: being used over just :great-tusk: which is positive for :arcanine-hisui: as it can 2ko offensive ones after intimidate and 3ko defensive ones while outspeeding. Then i went with this solid defensive core that is able to survive versus various offensive threats and uses u-turn :zapdos: being able to bring it :ogerpon-wellspring: vs bulky grounds that would attempt to block the electric type atks aswell as uturn vs specially defensive checks getting in :arcanine-hisui: to deal massive dmg. The core has a couple of techs so lets talk about em

4. Each mon important synergies

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Play Rough
- Power Whip

:ogerpon-wellspring: is one of the most threatning and hard to defend against attackers we have in the tier. It breaks defensive checks and teams on its own like for example vs physically defensive Zapdos, Kyurem Tinkaton cores, Bulky Grounds or sometimes even skarmory stall, they can all fall to this mon after an SD while it provides extremely useful defensive utilities resisting many hits like Ground and Water type of attacks and has the ability to tera improve drastically its spdef allowing you to soft check even more threats like Iron Moth, Darkrai, Deoxys-Speed etc. Its speedtier of 350 is incredible, outspeeds all the bulky or offensive ground type pokemons that u would naturally want this pokemon in against, outspeeds kyurem, gholdengo, iron crown and various other mons which means u able to often boost or click attacks freely whenever this pokemon is in. It synergizes great with :arcanine-hisui: and Uturn :zapdos: breaking through each other checks and gettin it in vs an expected ground or a slower mons that would drop to its attacks. Finally theres also good synergy with the defensive core having tools to switch into against faster, threatning pokemons that would force out Ogerpon like uturn Cinderace, Dragapult, Zamazenta etc.

Arcanine-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Rock Blast

Hisuan-Arcanine, the star of the build. As much as i would love to use standard Choice band, this one is Choice Scarf outspeeding various threats in the tier and leading incredibly well vs :ribombee: or :ninetales-alola: HO. With Tera Rock Jolly :arcanine-hisui: you outspeed and ohko Dragapult, Darkrai, Ogerpon, Ribombee, Ninetales, Enamorus, Kyurem, Roaring-Moon and a bunch of other stuff that would normally stay in and click effective hits against it. It struggles versus Great Tusk which is why it synergizes so well with this uturn :zapdos: :ogerpon-wellspring: core having both Knock Off absorbtion and a reliable ground / fighting resist and immunity. The set has some good defensive utilities vs for example threats like gunkshot :cinderace:, :iron-moth:, :clefable: and its capable to absorb will o wisps from :moltres: and :skeledirge:. Move-wise we are using its 2 rock head stabs obviously making it difficult to switch into its hits but for final moves we using Rock Blast for extra PP on Tera Rock hits and killing :ribombee: leads of course. Then Extreme speed can be super useful, i was originally toying with Close Combat or Wild Charge but extreme speed after previous hits, future sights and rocky helmet can be really nice vs those hyper offensive teams and threats that often get u swept normally after a couple of boosts.

Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hurricane
- Discharge
- U-turn
- Roost

Defensive :zapdos:, 2 stabs roost and uturn for as we said above being able to bring our offensive threats in with safety vs common grounds and would be resists. Tera Steel for that ice / fairy resistance vs common offensive threats like :iron-valiant:, :weavile: and Ice Spinner while also having the ability to be status immune vs more defensive threats and teams. We max max the evs so it better tanks physical attackers and has more opportunities to get static or discharge paras against threats like Roaring Moon, Gouging Fire, Kingambit, BO tera Tusk etc. Defensively we use it with :ting-lu: + :slowking-galar: to complete a core that soft checks a bunch of common threatning attackers and we using fast :great-tusk: with it + Chilly Reception to better deal with :raging-bolt: which gets free invites vs :zapdos: normally. Very underated pokemon, should be used more.

Ting-Lu @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 184 HP / 60 Atk / 12 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ruination
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

This recently has been my favourite :ting-lu: set. Originally i saw xavgb using or suggesting teams with this spread during world cup and since i tried it i loved it. Fast Taunt + Ruination is extremely good vs the stall cheesers and defensive type of builds while it also allows you with tera ghost to deal with a bunch of offensive sets. Roar / Rest :zamazenta:, Roost Ground :roaring-moon:, Roost :dragonite:, :garganacl: and Morning Sun :gouging-fire: dont love facing this. It acts as a great spin blocker and a really good way of dealing with :kingambit: while also still providing lots of defensive utility and tanking even without the bulk. When Ruination hits its super free 50% on anything making this set not passive at all, often forcing heals and giving space for our physical attackers to come in with safety. Spread and EVs would love to answer what they do but outside of outspeeding bold :gholdengo: the rest idk what they do, stole em from stresh.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic

:slowking-galar: next completes the defensive core providing toxic spikes absorbtion and a specially defensive stop vs many common threats. Tera Water is useful vs various matchups like Walking wake Sun, Rain, Iron Moth HO, Darkrai / Greninja offense or even :dragapult: and fairies (knockoff Valiant / tera Ground Enam). Super standard set, toxic to soft check alot, future sight for helping you break vs bulkier teams, chilly for momentum with :ogerpon-wellspring: against common grounds or with :arcanine-hisui: vs opposing :slowking-galar:, u already know what this mon does. I wish i could skip future sight for psyshock so Ground :iron-moth: would be less of a threat but future sight is needed so rely on :ogerpon-wellspring Tera or :ting-lu:synergy to help you vs it instead.

Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

Finally Offensive :great-tusk:. Provides hazard control for the team which is really important for these BO cores. U now have Knock off vs Heavy Duty Spam defensive builds. Headlong Rush with tera ground is extremely strong helping you break especially with Future Sight support. It synergizes well with :ogerpon-wellspring: against Lando + Gliscor, Arcanine + Zapdos vs other birds, Slowking into Tusk vs Raging Bolt and many more synergies. With this and :ting-lu: u are v secured vs :kingambit: and :gholdengo:, this plus Scarf Arcanine v secured versus DD :dragonite:, vs common leads like Glimmora, Ribombee, Treads etc and overall it fitted the team v nicely, its a tusk afterall. It and :arcanine-hisui: have similar checks so one can help the other progress like for example trading Ice Spinners vs opposing Tusks and Landos for your :hisuian-arcanine: or using it to maybe get rid of an item or get something low on hp at the cost of some dmg on things like :alomomola: and :primarina: can be quite nice too.

5. Threats to the Team

a. Substitute :kyurem: can be difficult for this. It can Protect scout vs Arcanine and tera ground nuke you on the locked headsmash, can substitute vs Slowking Ting Lu easily, it loves Zapdos being on the field.. its a tough mon. I usually lead Arcanine vs those Kyurem teams aiming for an opportunity to nuke it turn one expectin em to just Epower but if they protect or have played em b4 and they know im scarf i often switch hard into my Ogerpon as they either Tera Ground epower, stay regular epower and get nuked by head smash or switch into their bulky grounds which all 3 are covered by Ogerpon Switch. Worst case they sub straight which then leads to a series of turns with your Slowking to deal with after.

b. Swords Dance :gliscor:. Its a threatning mon for sure especially cuz we dont have whirlwind on Ting Lu. It gets opportunities vs Arcanine Zapdos Slowking Ting Lu and because of Tera it can sit and trade vs your Ogerpon or Great Tusk unfortunately. Tera Dark has been pain in the ass for me, water not as much.

c. Life Orb :deoxys-speed:. Has coverage for everyone and with proper play it can cause alot of damage. Usually the lead for me is Zapdos but vs it midgame my most common switch is Slowking or Ting lu dependin on who i have out then i try to maneuver against it but LO Deoxys is annoying often cuz it outspeeds scarf Arcanine except those that dont invest into speed but atk + spatk which.. u dont know until its late.

6. recording live of the climb

Instead of replays again i have recorded a showdown live using the team and explaining between the turns alittle bit about my thought process while also hitting the elo we achieved.
