Scizor (Trapper)

Is it worth mentioning Scrafty in the set comments? It's usage is so low, I think Terrakion is more relevant as it gets the Justified boost from pursuit.
EDIT- just realised scizor can come back in and kill with bp lol if it sets up. You'll still get a cc off though or whatever against the incoming poke.
 
It's still worth changing to Terrakion. You basically have to sack another Pokemon if it's a boosting Terrakion and you're locked into Pursuit. +2 CC cleanly OHKOs Scizor, and then some, so you can't switch out and then immediately switch back in.
 
Using Life Orb instead of Choice Band means that Scizor won't be locked in Pursuit when using it.

Meaning that he won't be locked into Pursuit with the Life Orb unlike the Choice band set.

<p>Scizor is able to trap several dangerous Pokemon such as Latios, Alakazam, and Gengar. This set capitalizes on that, and is as such is able to trap those threats more effectively than the Choice Band set. Using Life Orb instead of Choice Band means that Scizor won't be locked into Pursuit when using it; this avoids dangerous sweepers such as Dragonite and Scrafty setting up on you Scizor. It also lets Scizor use Roost, which, along with the bulkier EV spread, means Scizor will usually survive longer enhances Scizor's longevity and also gives it an easier time switching in on the aforementioned threats.</p>

<p>Pursuit is the key move to on this set, (either this or something like ''Pursuit is key to this set's success'') being able to KO fleeing Pokemon. Bullet Punch is able to take down weakened Pokemon, and allows Scizor to checkmate Alakazam and Gengar even when Scizor it is weakened if you predict correctly. U-turn is Scizor's most powerful move, and is useful for keeping the momentum on your side. Roost keeps Scizor high on health, preventing it from being worn down by repeated attacks or entry hazard damage.</p>

<p>The 112 Attack EVs are used for some notable KOs, including KOing Latios with Pursuit after Stealth Rock damage, as well as and KOing Gengar with Bullet Punch accounting Stealth Rock damage, Substitute, and two rounds of Leftovers. The rest of the EVs are used to maximize bulk, specificially on the special side as the Pokemon Scizor is being used to trap are all specially oriented. If you want, you can go with an even bulkier spread along with Leftovers to switch in on the likes of Gengar and Latios more easily; 248 HP / 28 Atk / 236 SpD avoids the 2HKOs from Choice Specs Latios's Draco Meteor, as well as the 2HKO from and Life Orb Gengar's Focus Blast most of the time.</p>

<p>Life Orb is the recommended item to get the KOs mentioned, but if you don't like the recoil, a different item can be used. Expert Belt and Dark Gem both increase Pursuit's power, but and also allow Scizor to bluff a Choice item. Occa Berry is another option, as this means an unexpected Hidden Power Fire won't take down Scizor, allowing it to KO what it's trapping.</p>

<p>If you're not using Occa Berry, Drizzle Politoed provides is a useful teammate. This lets Scizor take a Hidden Power Fire if needed, so that it will still be able to trap any Latios that carries it. This set is easily walled by Steel-types; as such, Heatran and Magnezone provide good teammates, both having a 4x resistance to Steel-type attacks, and being able to take down Steel-types with either a powerful STAB Fire Blast or Magnet Pull and a combination of Substitute and Charge Beam, respectively. This set is best paired with teammates that appreciate the likes of Latios and Gengar being removed, and Virizion is a prime example of that. While Latios, Alakazam, and Gengar can usually stop its sweep, Scizor is able to trap them, which leaves Virizion free to threaten the opposing team.</p>

Correction: 60 * 1.5 * 1.5 = 135
 
Sorry to be pedantic about this. The standard OU rated statistics for March shows Scrafty sitting at 49, with a usage of 3.465%. The 1337 statistics show Scrafty at 82, with a usage of 0.404%. Terrakion is at 7 with 17.08% in standard, and at 8 in 1337 with 22.502%. As said by Lord of Bays, Terrakion can get a SD and then wreck whatever you switch in when you are using CB Pursuit, which I hadn't thought about. I was mainly thinking about CB Terrakion gets two hits before CB Scizor can come back and force it out. These seem like good reasons for readers to use life orb instead of CB scizor, whereas when they see Scrafty they will wonder if it is worth it. You can't really have Scrafty and Dragonite in the same sentence.

Oh right, stupid STAB U-turn... There aren't many things that get STAB from it so I never thought about it.
 
@Knights of Cydonia: Okay then. I have changed it.

@blarajan: How does it not matter? 4x resistances to Steel-type attacks certainly makes it easier to take Iron Head from Jirachi, Bullet Punch from Scizor, etc.
 
The 4x resistance mattered with 'Zone when it was CB and you could come in on a predicted Bullet Punch (much more difficult with Team Preview, but it happens) or on the revenge when they're locked into something harmless and guarantee Scizor's removal.

Now, though, if you're not running enough speed you get KO'd by Superpower. The same applies to Heatran who scared Scizor out with STAB Fire-type attacks.

Also, the player with Scizor can predict the switch and KO or cripple 'Zone and 'Tran with Superpower on the switch-in.

EDIT: Wow, I probably should have read the part of the analysis that you were talking about. I do have to agree with Blarajan. Magnezone trapping Choice Scarf Jirachi is nice, but that's really it, and is incredibly rare nowadays. Very few Steels commonly utilize their STAB, mainly Scizor, Metagross, and the occasional Magnezone, but them walling Scizor doesn't really have to do with this set as you'll be using Pursuit on threats like Latios and Gengar as they switch out, where you then U-turn or switch to something that takes care of whatever switches in.
