OK SINCE NOBODYS POSTED BUT EVERYONE WANTS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THERE BEING NO POSTS I'LL GET IT GOING.

First off I think it's cool how many mains there are this year compared to years prior, PU usually has a larger amount of just general Good Players slotting into it and this year the mainers get more of a spotlight and I'm interested in seeing the outcome of this for meta development. Now let's get into the rankings.

1st - :gyarados: - Drud had the second-best PU record last year (tied for best in regular season) and the terrors overall have players with really strong recent performances. With tony going 8-0 in PUPL and zugubu winning slam these three should be the strongest if the current momentum in their sails can continue. While drud could arguably be ranked lower I think the core as a whole is easily the strongest overall and has great potential to have another best record in regular season.

2nd - :aegislash: - MDB also doesn't need that much of an intro either LOL. Really decorated tournament performances including invitational win as well as grand slam. Combined with his original builder from invitational, DDJoe the dynamic duo reunites to own PU players once again. However, there were some cracks shown in the armor with mdb's PUPL performance which has me give a slight edge to his competition taking the #1 slot.

3rd - :melmetal: - MZ kinda needs no introduction, TL with a lot of consistency in the tier omg! MZ had a slower start last year but ended with a strong 6-4 after an 0-2 start which a lot may struggle with. He's riding solo again this year since thiago isn't too much of a builder but that didn't really deter him much last year, so I expect him to put up another good performance.

4th - :exeggutor-alola: - Pix is kinda higher here for me than others would say probably but I think he's had a cool look on the tier for a while, and his recent invitational run showed how his pulse for the tier's stayed consistently strong even after breaks. zS might have been tapped out of PU for a minute but he's also had some pretty unorthodox but interesting team choices, and I think these two in particular could come up with some heat.

5th - :zapdos-galar: - Metallica's getting his starting chance this year after being confined to RU last year (and he's happy to be out of that jail for sure LOL) and he's got good supporting teammates in Platum, brick, and Ruffles but unsure if either of the latter two will contribute much here instead of in NU. I think Metallica kinda has to start the season off good since his mental can be kinda shaky in team tours, especially if there's a bit of luck involved. However, he's consistently been a top contender throughout the generation and if he starts strong it can look great for Dynamos.

6th - :gible: - LpZ starts for the gibles this year instead of marcop, and has had various tournament's worth of experience at this point. His support is a little less than last year's with Regiboob being the main one in my eyes with possible input from taka? I rate LpZ lower moreso because the upper half of the pool's had more experience with SV than him as of late but he's definitely not far from the placements above him. The Slam trophy does not lie tho so I could believe him getting some big wins if he plays his cards right. bw pu.

7th - :mew: - Machines have the most PU centric manager duo of the tour with xcx and Bouff, two of the more prominent SV builders & players. Kush has not had much experience as of late with PU but I think from a team standpoint he will be put ahead of the curve and it lies on him to follow through. Kush has had some up and downs the past couple SCLs so we'll see how his fresh starting spot of PU treats him.

8th - :falinks: - I think Xiri is the dark horse / wild card of this pool for sure. He's gotten some momentum back after his most recent PUPL and often finds a lot of unique team ideas but sometimes it can be hard for the ideas to come to fruition. Esteb4n hasn't been super active as of late in PU but he should be able to hopefully help if the kitchen's getting too hot.

9th - :ninetales: - Dugza PU slots have flopped pretty badly the past couple SCLs and with him being unable to slot into it as a player also leads me to rating it lower as a whole. OBB is also on the bench in case the slot goes awry but his recent PU performances leave some to be desired as well. The support structure is here for sure and if the Dugza PU slot curse doesn't follow onto this tour then things look up for the Foxes. However, the foxes are pretty known for being cursed so....

10th - :kingambit: - TBH trich could be higher (and probably will end up outperforming a last placement) but the experience side of things will hurt when the rest of the pool has better experience/support within the team. Possibly could be getting teams from mind is my guess? Solid player but unsure about the support he's getting to catch up with the rest of the pool.

excited to watch pu this year!

1st - :gyarados: Drud always has a good handle of the meta, and put up a stellar record last year. He is always motivated to perform, and he has an 8-0 big tony to help support him. tony also has a good eye on the meta and has been cooking cool and fun stuff (and it works) all of PUPL and I can't imagine that he'll suddenly stop doing that now. I'm not that confident in Zugu's ability to prep the tier just in the sense that Slam is a very demanding tournament and Zugu won that by being a good clicker, I'm not sure as to if he's really gonna build/pitch in prep and tbh he doesn't really need to. Drud and tony are enough and have this on lock.

2nd - :aegislash: MDB is here just based on playing. He is someone who plays a lot of PU but is generally pretty particular about his teams. DD Joe is known to have supported him to some success, but I do think they got pretty repetitive in PUCL when they worked together. From a prep standpoint I think etern will have to pitch in alongside DD Joe but I do wonder how this slot will shape up. I'm sure it will be fine given new meta and the old meta we had during PUCL was such a slog to build in and I'm sure Joe got bored of it. But as far as skill there's no doubting Michael.

3rd / 4th - :melmetal: :exeggutor alola: I rate MZ and Pix pretty evenly. MZ has been a longstanding TL and has put up great records in our tournaments, and SCL he didn't perform poorly afaik. Pix has always been consistent in PU to my knowledge and I don't think he'll have any issue with finding his groove. I do think they are both on the weaker ends of the spectrum when it comes to support, and I'm sure they'll be self sufficient anyway so it's not really a big concern at all. Both of them will just have to figure out how to manage being self sufficient and picking up on trends and what will win while balancing actually winning their games (if that makes sense?).

5th - :mew: I think Kushalos despite his recent blunders in recent tournaments is still a good player if previous showings were just off-seasons. When he is in form, he will do well. Especially with xcx's support. Obviously I'm biased towards one of my best friends but xcx has always been known for being an extremely talented builder and picks up metas extremely fast and is able to figure out what is good before anyone else figures it out. All Kushalos really has to do is get fed teams and play. Ideally he's active in his team cord and learns the meta and takes notes on what xcx is doing weekly so he's not getting knowledge checked.

6th - :gible: LpZ did great for me last year on the machines, is super easy to work with, and comes up with fresh ideas that win him games. He has good support behind him too. I'm struggling to find more things to say just because we all know LpZ. He's won slam, he's won SPL, he's been in the scene for a while. Whether or not he does well or flops or if this ranking is justified is just a test of time.

7th - :kingambit: This is my hot take, but I've watched Trichotomy play Monotype for years, and he's one of the best players there. He's also been dabbling in the ZU scene where he's won some tours there and does well. I've always wanted to see him play in some other tiers and subforum tours so I'm looking quite forward to his games. He has no support but I'm not really that concerned because I'm sure he'll find some and figure it out / figure the tier out on his own regardless. He's a good player and I think he's quite talented at the game and will be able to translate that out of Monotype without much difficulty. Maybe I'm overestimating the difficulty in going from subforum tours to being thrown into SCL all of the sudden, but I can't see him doing horribly.

8th - :ninetales: Mako is a good player and I think DugZa is gonna be great support for her given that he doesn't keep suggesting to use random ZU shitmons LOL. I mean, I'll give him his flowers because they tend to work, but they are pretty pilot dependent. Not to say Mako can't do it, because I know she can, but I do wonder how she'll perform when she's mainly been an OU mainstay (an old gen one at that, but I know she's had a lot of success in SV). I think 8 is not reflective of her skill as a player at all but this pool is pretty tenured in the tier and its hard to say for sure that she is better than XYZ player. Like I could probably say she's a better overall clicker than lets say, Kushalos in recent years, but Kushalos sort of knows how to maneuver around playing these tiers in these sorts of tournaments.

9th / 10th - :falinks: :zapdos galar: I also don't think that Xiri and Metallica are the worst "clearly" players in the pool. This pool is quite good and can literally go in any direction record-wise. However, its hard to put them above some of the other players reliably. Xiri has actually been doing pretty well in PU recently (SV at that) and has been around in the scene for years. Everyone knows him and that he is able to play, just a matter of again if this is one of these tours that works out well for him or not. Given that hes been on a roll recently, I'd say he'd do fine, contrary to my ranking here. Metallica I think has been building a lot of good stuff in SV, but is really prone to burning out and its not much of a secret that he tilts easily. Mons is a game where its honestly 80% mental. I feel like clicking isn't thaaaat hard, but making sure you can stay calm during a game in response to hax, or to be able to move onto the next week even if you're 0-3 or something, is the most important skill anyone can have. Anyway, both players are fine enough and will just have to really make sure they're on top of it, and both have good support in Esteb4n and Platum/Ruffles respectively.

This pool is fucking awesome though, lets have some good games

WEEK 1 MATCHUPS REVEALED WOOOO !!

:gible: LpZ vs Xiri :falinks:
:gyarados: Drud vs MZ :melmetal:
:ninetales: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 :aegislash:
:mew: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 :exeggutor-alola:
:kingambit: Trichotomy vs Metallica126 :zapdos-galar:

good luck to all players let's start the season off with a bang! :))
SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri
SV PU: Drud vs MZ
SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2
SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03
SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri - Not sure if this is gonna be a hot or a cold Xiri year, and LpZ is generally very consistent. A lot closer than it looks, but I also do like the support that the Gibles have going on much better than the Platoon's, although I do wonder if Taka's going to have as much time to slave away in the prep mines now that he's starting this year.

SV PU: Drud vs MZ - Coming straight out the gates with a fucking heater right here, both very strong, consistent, and self-sufficient players. Leaning Drud just because he has better records and in-house support with tony, and you kinda gotta be pedantic like that when you're doing week 1 predicts. Neither result for this game would come to me as particularly shocking though. Go Breakers!

SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 - Michael has his favorite short-order cook on standby, is probably a better player at base, and has much, much, much more experience with PU. Like, seriously, I don't think I've ever seen Mako play a game of this tier ever. Don't doubt that she'll be able to learn, but I'm not sure if it'll be fast enough to take down arguably top 1 in pool the first week. Oh, and if you put any stock into it, DugZa support is cursed too! But perhaps that'll change with a player who has more than 5 lines a week in the channel.

SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 - I'm rather high on pix in SV, I think he's very consistently coming up with cool ideas when he cooks his own stuff and zS support is also very promising. Most of the Machines PU support is on the managerial side, which I feel bodes poorly, even if it is of good quality. I doubt Bouff has entirely forgotten how this tier works, and xcx just came off of Bo3ing in PUPL. Still, something about your only in-house help being the people who should be checking in with everyone is a little yikes! Just don't let OG Kush pick his own teams and he'll be okay. Maybe.

SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126 - Feel like we all collectively agree that Trichotomy is Jesus. I, personally, will never forget in LTWC where he cleaned out the Monotype pool within a day and proceeded to link all four replays in one winpost. Massive aura gain from that one, even if his college football takes are dogass. Metallica is ready as ever to tryhard this though, and while we can all generally assume that there's some level of mind gaming's invisible hand at work, Metallica is one of the tier's best and brightest and has his own certifiable in-house support. However, I am a bit curious to see where things go considering that Metallica is known for his odd techs and Platum is by all means much more by the books in his team choices. I've always been a fan of the schizoprepper + cool headed support combo, but there are definitely times where it can break down. TLDR both players good, metallica cook gooder

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri - Happy to see Xiri back in SCL again. He did very well in SV this past PUPL and his team even won the whole tour, though I feel like LpZ is more proven in the tier and also has the clicking ability to match Xiri's.

SV PU: Drud vs MZ - This one could truly go either way, feels like a relatively even matchup. For now, I'll bold Drud because he has PUPL champion big tony 2014 on his side, which is more or less putting a cherry on top of something that's already quite good.

SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 - If there were more to go off of, I'd probably have an easier time wanting to bold Mako. Hoping that DugZa support shines through and makes her PU debut one to remember (or that Mako goes the 2025 marcop route), but for now I have to be boring and go based on MDB2's results.

SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 - I think Pix will have better luck leaning into unconventional Pokemon/sets without going too far off the rails, not to mention I've seen him play the tier and be solid more recently than Kushalos.

SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126 - Like others, I believe that Trichotomy will perform above expectations; however, it's week 1 and I'm sure Metallica wants this much more, especially how PUPL ended for him. If mind gaming does end up supporting Trichotomy, then this does become a lot closer, but otherwise I also prefer Metallica's support.

Good luck to all competing

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri - I want to say from a pure clicking standpoint, LpZ is better. Xiri has been on a pretty good SVPU roll this year and I hope to see it continue. LpZ is a little rusty on the meta but he's never struggled to get back into things. I do think predicting against Xiri despite all he's done this year is disrespectful but after teaming with LpZ a bunch (and being his in SCL manager last year) I know he's pretty good at getting back into CG stuff and his clicking complements that quite well.

SV PU: Drud vs MZ - Highlight! I actually don't really think I've watched either of them play SV that much. Idk how I've managed to miss all their SV games throughout our past couple tours despite me talking to both people pretty often lol. Both players have been at the peak of this tier for a long time now, with great SCL and great records in our tours. MZ did just hit the finals of invitational, and I'm pretty sure Drud did well in PUPL (this says a lot about me considering he was my player). I don't wanna do a boring 50/50 predict and while I feel that truly is how even this matchup is, I think I favor Drud in the builder because he tends to be creative in ways that fits his own playstyle, while MZ tends to overcook sometimes (Duosion..)

SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 - I don't have much to say here cuz like...idk. Both are good tour players that click pretty well and I think most people will look at this and predict for MDB2. I will also do that, but I think Mako has what it takes to win obviously. Don't think it will be as easy of a game for Michael as most people would think though.

SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 - I'm most excited for this game honestly. Looking forward to what xcx builds and comes up with this tour. Curious to see if Kushalos revives his reputation a little bit as a clicker, and to see Pix play in SCL again is also a treat as a spectator. Going off of recency bias with Kushalos on a downward trend while Pix has been pretty consistent (and did well in invi) I'll favor Pix.

SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126 - I will predict Metallica cuz he has experience in the tier, but I'm rooting for Trichotomy this tour and I think he has what it takes to win this game and to beat others in the pool. Since there's nothing to really go off of for him when it comes to PU at the moment we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I know I put Metallica in "10th" on my PR and I'm barely saying anything positive about him, but I do not think he is bad at all and I know he also has what it takes to do well. He lead a PUPL team to playoffs while working his ass off to make sure everyone did well. So I hope he has the tour he's been always striving for and I know he can do it.

Official Power Rankings

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri
SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2
SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03
SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126

I generally like the PRs, what I sent in is very close to what we got. Drud was my #2 over LpZ specifically because team tours seem to be the format where he pops off more (SCL, PUPL, etc.) whereas LpZ has the edge in more recent individual tours (invitational, slam). I also might have swapped metallica and xiri, but I can't remember and they're pretty close regardless.

My predicts would exactly match higher ranked players beating lower ranked players for the first week. I'm not sure how much to expect out of the non-mainer trio yet, and the one who seems to have the most hype (Mako) has the hardest matchup week 1.

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri - this meta is as close as it gets to LpZ prime PU. Also Virizion is good right now and i've genuinely never seen someone with more high level usage than LpZ so feels like a given.
SV PU: Drud vs MZ - MZ has been in its best form in individuals this gen with some strong cooks. Betting on them as Drud isn't coming as on fire as last year.
SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 - hard to bet against mdb w1
SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 - with bouff and xcx on the cook i'm leaning towards kush to win this week
SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126 - Metallica is a prep beast but how do you prep against someone you don't know what to expect? + trichotomy is super solid in ZU, the transition shouldn't be so hard and there's the likely mind gaming support

SV PU: LpZ vs Xiri - I can just see him winning this one idk, trailblaze Tghost blast is dead

SV PU: Drud vs MZ - Drud might be busy w school but he knows how to pull it out the bag when it's necessary. I trust him

SV PU: Mako vs MichaelderBeste2 - I heard he's got some great teams

SV PU: Kushalos vs Vulpix03 - pix is a very accurate clicker, idk if Kushalos will be able to adapt in time

SV PU: Trichotomy vs Metallica126

Honestly no idea, two strong players

Week 2 is live !!!

SV PU: :kingambit: Trichotomy vs MZ :melmetal:

SV PU: :aegislash: MichaelderBeste2 vs Drud :gyarados:

SV PU: :zapdos-galar: Metallica126 vs Xiri :falinks:

SV PU: :gible: LpZ vs Vulpix03 :exeggutor-alola:

SV PU: :mew: Kushalos vs Mako :ninetales:
SV PU: Trichotomy vs MZ
SV PU: MichaelderBeste2 vs Drud
SV PU: Metallica126 vs Xiri
SV PU: LpZ vs Vulpix03
SV PU: Kushalos vs Mako

SV PU: Trichotomy vs MZ - Trichotomy is going X-1 MZ still needs to net 2 loses before he goes super sayan and tricho showed that the monotype/zu ball transfers here
SV PU: Metallica126 vs Xiri - i have faith that this will be metallica's redemption week even after witnessing xiri wielding back frosmoth like last mon gambit last week
SV PU: LpZ vs Vulpix03 - pix overcooked last week while lpz was moving like a demon I actually rate both pretty close but lpz has the momentum atm
SV PU: Kushalos vs Mako - the chef + gum crack is honestly terrifying and dugza seems to not be helping as mako loaded mind gaming semi sun last week

I made an incredibly low quality video for everyone to enjoy

SV PU: MichaelderBeste2 vs Drud - Literally the only person I favor into Drud this tournament unless things drastically change
SV PU: Metallica126 vs Xiri - I don't think either looked too bad week 1 and this is a pretty even matchup overall, but I do think Xiri's flavor of unconventional is ideal into Metallica's style
SV PU: LpZ vs Vulpix03 - Need a week of Vulpix earning back my confidence
SV PU: Kushalos vs Mako - Need a week of Mako not just recycling mind gaming semisun

SV PU: Xiri vs Trichotomy
SV PU: Larry vs Metallica126
SV PU: Drud vs Kushalos
SV PU: MZ vs MichaelderBeste2

SV PU: Xiri vs Trichotomy - it was X-0 or im not bolding you but genuinely I think xiri crack is gonna do well into tricho I cant place my finger on why but I expect a zu mon not ranked in zu's vr to kill atleast 3 of tricho's mons
SV PU: Larry vs Metallica126 - pix seems to have cashed out here to focus on his classic run so now the question on everyone's mind is who will be passing larry teams personally I think it will be zs and larry will load a combusken which leads me to bold "We're so back" Metallica but feel free to place your bets
SV PU: Lpz vs Mako - mako loaded obb stall slop and lpz didnt. This seems pretty clear cut to me
SV PU: MZ vs MichaelderBeste2 - the ol MZ vs MDB, never gets old and while i am tempted to bet that mz will finally get the get back he still hasnt hit his half way through the season power boost.

SV PU: Xiri vs Trichotomy - Trichotomy had low key the most standard/boring brings so far and xiri feeds on that. Time for the come back
SV PU: Larry vs Metallica126 - metallica x-1 journey in the making
SV PU: Drud vs Kushalos - reusing one year old team wasn't a good sign for drud. Want him to win but kushalos is bringing the heat so i feel like they have the edge
SV PU: LpZ vs Mako - hard to bet on mako given their teams for the first 2 weeks
SV PU: MZ vs MichaelderBeste2 - MZ imo has the best qualities to win against mdb and is having an impressive form recently bar week 1

This week pu all have very high quality pair, even every pu game can seen as highlight, so I think I will write more about predict.
SV PU: Trichotomy vs zS
Trich have soild performance in recent 3 weeks especially defeat me, but zs is great as a player and save last week team's ru, i feel both side can give both surprise so it is very close game, i'm so hesitate predict one of them so only can decided by fate.
1000080400.jpg

SV PU: MichaelderBeste2 vs Kushalos
Both 3-0 run, MDB2 is strong but i want predict kush cuz with gum/bouff's soild support will give opp more surprise.
SV PU: LpZ vs Drud
Drud is good but LpZ have more official experience with 3-0 record rn, hope drud run more ambitious and new squad.
SV PU: MZ vs Cielau
My GOAT Cielau finally free tho not on RU since xiri not did well in PU, cielau is soild, with esteb4n's France effort and i always like his play style, but he pair MZ, tho MZ struggling rn, he is MZ, 0-3 bounce back 4-3 in PUPL, so in his side anything is possible.

We're still doing recaps! I forgot to post last week here but DD Joe was on it! I think it was good! Check it out!

SV PU: Trichotomy vs zS
SV PU: MichaelderBeste2 vs Kushalos
SV PU: LpZ vs Drud
SV PU: Mako vs Metallica126
Gave more reasonings and thoughts in the video but this is the week where my predictions really start to divorce from player records, but if people keep proving me wrong then I'll have to turn around. Really looking forward to these matches though, especially michael drud and trich zs
