Now that I've reached 1425 on the RU ladder I've decided to retire this specific RU team. This team has become more of an offensive type, however I've found ways to implement more support such as defensive Flygon which you can read about farther down. When using the team you must keep in mind that the momentum must be on your side most of the battle in order to get the most out of it. This is one of the first teams that I'm proud to show off, and has allowed me to pass several milestones on the RU ladder. I hope you enjoy!
Scrafty @ Lum Berry
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Drain Punch
- IcePunch/Crunch
- Substitute
Scrafty, the star of the show. I found that once I hit 1300 on the RU ladder I was seeing Scrafty more and more. So I figured I should build a team around it. On this team Scrafty is pretty self-explanatory, it's a full on sweeper. I've found myself winning several battles easily because of how naturally bulky it is, and the fact that it can destroy worlds with Dragon Dance makes it that much better. Substitute is a move I strapped onto Scrafty because I find a lot of people either attempting to status it, or switching out allowing me to get up a substitute. Ice Punch is specifically for Togetic, a major threat to Scrafty. It can be replaced by Crunch for the obvious stab, and allowing it to hit Jellicent. Next I decided to go with Moxie + Lum Berry. Moxie allows me to gain more attack without having to set up more DD's.
Jolteon @ Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
Jolteon is a standard special attacker. I usually use it to scout for what people are leading with. HP Water is for the occasional Camerupt and Rhyperior that I can catch on the switch in, when people are predicting the obvious Volt Switch. I feel like Jolteon was a solid addition because it is an astounding revenge killer, which is what this team needs due to the fact that it requires you to have a lot of momentum on your side.
Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Crunch
- U-turn
Flygon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Dragon Tail
- U-turn
Here are two possible Flygon sets. It all depends on how you want to play this team. Personally, I love this team because of how offensive it is. If you feel the same than the offensive set will be just right, however if you would like to prevent hazards and have a nice defensive support Pokemon, go with the second set. I've tested several Pokemon for this slot, including Choice Banded Braviery. I've found that Flygon works well as a revenge killer. It works well with Jolteon as well, creating that Volt-Turn type of core. More importantly, it keeps the momentum on my side.
Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Clear Smog
Amoonguss is a Pokemon that I use on a few of my RU teams. I find it being a very good wall, and Regenerator makes it that much better. In some cases, spore allows me to get a switch in and a free substitute with Scrafty. Clear Smog is a nice addition, allowing it to threaten certain set-up Pokemon.
Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Toxic
- Protect
- Scald
Alomomola is here for obvious reasons. This is because I decided to go with the standard Regenerator core. It works well with this team and is a great switch in for a lot of offensive Pokemon that threaten Scrafty, such as Mach Punch Hitmontop and Scarfed Medicham. It is also a great wish passer for Meloetta and Scrafty.
Meloetta @ Assault Vest
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam
- Energy Ball
I've been testing several Pokemon for this slot such as Calm Mind Delphox. However, I am still finding it a great Pokemon for this team because it's an easy switch in to specially offensive threats. Because Meloetta has such a great special attack and defense stat it makes it a serious threat when running Assault Vest because of the natural bulk and huge offense.
IGN: King's East
Scrafty @ Lum Berry
Ability: Moxie
