Swords Dance Scyther has long been solid in PU, but its mediocre bulk can give it trouble setting up safely while staying healthy enough to beat revenge killers like Choice Scarf Florges. This newer take on the set fixes that problem and is largely responsible for Scyther's recent uptick in viability. If its team can keep Stealth Rock off, Scyther can use its Speed and Eviolite-boosted bulk to set up on walls like Gastrodon or as a foe like Decidueye switches out, and it can beat offensive checks like Zoroark one-on-one. +2 Tera Fighting Close Combat OHKOes Rock-types like Rhydon and Coalossal and cleaves through other foes like Rotom-H. Technician-boosted Trailblaze smacks Gastrodon and helps Scyther outrun the likes of Hisuian Electrode. Scyther works best on hyper offense teams, which do well at preventing foes from setting Stealth Rock. Lycanroc is the best lead to pair Scyther with, shutting every relevant entry hazard setter down with Taunt and reliably setting Stealth Rock itself. Fire-types like Salazzle and Arcanine benefit immensely from Scyther wearing down foes like Coalossal and Mudsdale, and they can similarly weaken other shared checks like Gastrodon for it. Rhydon takes on Electric-types like Bellibolt, while Scyther deals with Grass-types like Venusaur.

Swords Dance Scyther has long been solid in PU, but its mediocre bulk can give it trouble setting up safely while staying healthy enough to beat revenge killers like Arcanine (even w eviolite this just always wins lol, I would rather use an alternative example such as Zoroark or something like that) and Choice Scarf Florges. This newer take on the set fixes that problem and contributed to Scyther's recent uptick in viability. If its team can keep Stealth Rock off, Scyther's Speed and Eviolite-boosted bulk lets it set up on walls like Gastrodon, or as a foe like Decidueye switches out, and beat offensive checks like Zoroark one-on-one. Technician-boosted Trailblaze smacks Rhydon and Gastrodon and helps Scyther outrun the likes of Hisuian Electrode. (No mention at all about CC or Fighting Tera? For example, you can OHKO SpD Rhydon like 80%~ of the time with a +2 Tera Boosted CC. Worth to mention rolls like that) Scyther works best on hyper offensive teams, which do well at preventing opponents from setting Stealth Rock. Lycanroc is the best lead to pair Scyther with, shutting every relevant entry hazard setter down with Taunt and reliably setting Stealth Rock itself. Offensive Fire-types like Salazzle and Arcanine benefit immensely from Scyther wearing down bulky Rock- and Ground-types like Coalossal and Mudsdale. (Its worth to mention how this benefits on both ways, as depending on the MU you may want Scyther to either be the primary or secondary wincon.) Rhydon is another great teammate for its ability to take on Electric-types like Bellibolt while Scyther deals with Grass- and Fighting-types like Hisuian Decidueye. (HDeci is kinda blegh, Would rather say like Wo-Chien / Firebull or something.)
