Gen 3 SD Anorith [QC 0/2]

[OVERVIEW]
Anorith possesses a large base 95 Attack stat, one of the highest in the tier, boosted to obscene levels after a Swords Dance. At +2, there are very few Pokemon that can consistently check Anorith defensively, common physical walls such as Porygon and Duskull being OHKOed. However, Anorith's lack of defensive utility limits its opportunities to switch in, and its Speed tier leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Staryu and Abra. Furthermore, it has to be extremely careful against Pokemon that carry Thunder Wave, as being paralyzed halts its sweep entirely. Despite its shortcomings, Anorith shines as one of the tiers best wallbreakers and mid-game sweepers, and should always be accounted for whenever building a team.

[SET]
Swords Dance (Anorith) @ Sitrus Berry
Level: 5
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Rock Blast / Rock Slide
- Brick Break
- Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]
The EVs listed maximize Anorith's sweeping capabilities, maxing out Attack and Speed and putting the rest into its Defence. Swords Dance boosts its Attack stat to a staggering 38, allowing it to muscle through most of the tier. Rock Blast is generally Anorith's strongest STAB move, but Rock Slide may be used to sacrifice power for consistency and let Anorith luck through certain matchups with flinches. Brick Break is crucial coverage for Porygon and Magnemite, a +2 Brick Break being one of the few attacks able to consistently OHKO physically defensive Porygon sets. Substitute allows Anorith to blank any status moves aimed at it, giving it a free opportunity to set up Swords Dance once up.

Pokemon with Thunder Wave can paralyze opposing Pokemon that would otherwise outspeed and stop Anorith's sweep, such as Voltorb and Elekid. Porygon is especially notable in this role, as it also removes Diglett via its ability Trace. Anorith's immense power allows it to break through walls like Porygon and Duskull with ease, so it works best with teammates that appreciate its breaking power in order to facilitate their sweep. Abra and Anorith form a powerful offensive core together, Abra sweeping with powerful psychics once bulkier Pokemon have been removed. Bagon and Larvitar can setup using Dragon Dance to sweep teams once physical walls have been chipped down.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Endure + Salac Berry can be used to survive an attack from a faster Pokemon and outspeed after, sweeping teams with after Lum Berry may be considered to cure status, replacing Substitute with a coverage move, but a lack of Sitrus Berry heavily cuts into Anorith's bulk and ultimately does more harm than good.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Staryu, Abra and Ponyta can revenge kill or paralyze Anorith after it has taken a kill.

**Paralysis**: Whilst being a strong tool for it, Paralysis is also Anorith's biggest enemy. Pokemon with Thunder Wave risk paralyzing Anorith, neutering it and leaving it extremely vulnerable to attackers.

**Ground-types**: Bulky Ground-types such as Cubone or Baltoy survive any hit from Anorith at +2, beating it one-on-one.

You need to emphasize that Anorith's main flaw, its serious lack of defensive utility while not being THAT fast and not hitting THAT hard without SD or lucky Rock Blast hits. The result is a Pokemon that can devastate teams under the right conditions, but also one that has the tendency to be overwhelmed by the tier's fast pace and spam of faster foes.

The EVs listed maximize Anorith's sweeping capabilities, maxing out Attack and Speed and putting the rest into its bulk Defense. Swords Dance boosts its Attack stat to a staggering 38, allowing it to muscle through most of the tier. Give notable examples Brick Break is crucial coverage for Porygon and Magnemite, a +2 Brick Break being one of the few attacks able to consistently OHKO physically defensive Porygon sets. Rock Blast is generally Anorith's strongest STAB move, but Rock Slide may be used as a more consistent alternative that lets Anorith luck through some matchups with flinches. Give examples of KOes Rock Blast can hit, and what Rock Slide loses out on Substitute allows Anorith to blank any status moves aimed at it from foes such as Porygon and Snubbull, giving it a free opportunity to set up Swords Dance once up.

Reorder the sentences to account for the moveset change

Pokemon with Thunder Wave can paralyze pPokemon that would otherwise outspeed and stop its Anorith's sweep, such as Voltorb and Staryu. Staryu has Natural Cure and could just switch out if it's needed to stop Anorith. Another example is better here Porygon is especially notable in this role, as it also removes Diglett via its ability Trace. Anorith works best with teammates that appreciate it breaking through defensive walls in order to facilitate their sweep. Abra and Anorith form a powerful offensive core together, Abra sweeping teams softened up by the latter. Bagon and Larvitar can setup using Dragon Dance to sweep teams once physical walls like Porygon and Duskull have been chipped down.

Emphasize the main reason why players would use Anorith, that being its devastating offensive power taking care of some notable threats. You hint at that in the last sentence, but it should be stated first in this paragraph. Also mention how its Normal resistance can let it be a crappy Doduo switch-in in a pinch, and mention how it's still quite bad at this job. Also state how it's favored to win a one-on-one if Doduo locked itself into Double-Edge

Other Options
=============
Endure + Salac Berry can be used to survive an attack from a faster Pokemon and outspeed after, though this proves inconsistent and dropping any of Anorith's moves is unideal. Mention its sweeping potential, and how Quick Attack users like Doduo can put a stop to that (Remove break) Lum Berry may be considered to cure status, replacing Substitute with a coverage move, but a lack of Sitrus Berry heavily cuts into Anorith's bulk and ultimately does more harm than good.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Staryu, Abra, and Ponyta can revenge kill or paralyze Anorith after it has taken a kill. Specify which Pokemon can outspeed and OHKO it, like Staryu

**Paralysis**: Whilst being a strong tool for it, Pparalysis is also Anorith's biggest enemy. Pokemon with Thunder Wave risk paralyzing Anorith, neutering it and leaving it extremely vulnerable to attackers. Give examples of Pokemon that can paralyze Anorith and take advantage of it while its paralyzed

**Baltoy**: Although a rare sight, Baltoy survives a hit from Anorith at +2 and slows it down with Rock Tomb, beating it 1v1 bar bad luck one-on-one. Mention Ground-types in general. Cubone can tank anything Anorith throws at it and OHKOes back.

Mention Wailmer, which can tank anything but 5 hit Rock blast from unboosted Anorith and OHKO back. This is a shaky mu, but Wailmer is so common it should be mentioned.
