Ubers SD Ray [QC: 2/2] [GP: 1/1]

Swords Dance (Rayquaza) @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Ascent
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Swords Dance Rayquaza functions as a strong wallbreaker and a potential revenge killer or late-game cleaner thanks to Extreme Speed.
  • Dragon Ascent is Rayquaza's go-to move with which it can 2HKO Skeledirge, Giratina-O, and most Arceus formes.
  • Earthquake is a valuable coverage move that allows Rayquaza to hit Flying-resistant foes like Zacian-C and Miraidon for massive damage.
  • Swords Dance allows Rayquaza to turn the aforementioned 2HKOs into OHKOs and 2HKO Corviknight with Dragon Ascent.
  • Extreme Speed allows Rayquaza to pick off weakened targets or even sweep with the combination of Tera Normal and Swords Dance. After a Swords Dance, Tera Normal Extreme Speed can OHKO even Koraidon and Miraidon.
  • Life Orb is crucial for this set because it gives Rayquaza the necessary power boost to score OHKOs and 2HKOs that it needs to.
  • Jolly is necessary because it allows Rayquaza to get the jump on foes like the plethora of base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Kyogre as well as suicide leads such as Glimmora. On Sticky Web teams it's even more important because Adamant Rayquaza can't outrun -1 Speed Zacian-C.
  • Swords Dance Rayquaza fits on more offensive teams where it can switch in on defensive Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Ting-Lu, and Clodsire. Rayquaza pairs exceptionally well with Sticky Web setters such as Ribombee, as they let it outspeed Zacian-C, previously faster Arceus formes, and non-Choice Scarf Koraidon and Miraidon, which can all be OHKOed after a Swords Dance.
  • Rayquaza also pairs well with Extreme Killer Arceus and Kingambit because together they form a priority core that gives their team a very reliable safety net against common sweepers like Koraidon and Miraidon. Rayquaza also appreciates Taunt users like Miraidon and Arceus because they can prevent foes from setting up hazards or healing to try to stay out of range of Rayquaza's attacks.

  • Swords Dance Rayquaza mainly functions as a strong and decently fast i wouldn't necessary say its a decently fast wallbreaker, since a majority of the tier outspeeds it. i'd focus on how dragon ascent is hard to switch into wallbreaker, however the strong priority in Extreme Speed gives Rayquaza the flexibility to act as a revenge killer and late game cleaner.
  • Dragon Ascent is Rayquaza's go-to move with which it can 2HKO Skeledirge, Giratina-O, and most Arceus formes.
  • Earthquake is a valuable coverage move which allows Rayquaza to hit Flying-type resistant foes like Zacian-Crowned and Miraidon.
  • Swords Dance allows Rayquaza to turn it's 2HKOes into OHKOes as well as newly 2HKO Corviknight with Dragon Ascent. dont think corv is an important enough example to describe sd, and the 2hko -> ohko sentence is pretty clear anyways
  • Extreme Speed is a strong priority move which can allow allows Rayquaza to pick off weakened targets or even sweep with the combination of Tera Normal and Swords Dance. With those boosts After a Swords Dance, Tera Normal Extreme Speed can OHKO even Koraidon and Miraidon.
  • Life Orb is crucial for this set because it gives Rayquaza the necesarry power boost to score OHKOes and 2HKOes that it needs to.
  • Jolly is necessary because its 95 base Speed allows it to get the jump on many slower foes like the plethora of base 90s such as Kyogre as well as popular suicide leads such as Samurott-H and Glimmora. On Sticky Web teams it's even more important because Adamant Rayquaza can't outrun Zacian-C at -1 Speed.
  • Swords Dance Rayquaza fits on more offensively minded teams, however it shines the most on Sticky Web teams because the Speed drop makes its Swords Dance boosted attacks a lot more threatening since it is OHKOing and outspeeding most Arceus with Dragon Ascent, outspeeding and OHKOing Zacian-C with Earthquake, and even OHKOing Scarf Koraidon and Miraidon with Tera Normal Extreme Speed.i'd reword this to be more clear, something more like "SD ray fits on offense where it can come in on defensive Ground-types such as Landorus-T. Sticky Webs in particular are great for Rayquaza, as it can outspeed Zacian-C, Arceus formes, Eternatus, and non-Choice Scarf Koraidon and Miraidon.

I think it is because then ppl are gonna use Overheat not realizing they can just 2hko Corv after SD.

"Sticky Webs in particular are great for Rayquaza, as it can outspeed Zacian-C, Arceus formes, Eternatus, and non-Choice Scarf Koraidon and Miraidon."
Removed Eternatus because most of the time it's running one of HDB or Scarf.

Everything else implemented Taka !

  • Swords Dance Rayquaza mainly functions as a strong wallbreaker thanks to its high attack stat and high base power moves, additionally the strong priority in Extreme Speed gives Rayquaza the flexibility to act as a revenge killer and late game cleaner. just make this 1 good long sentence; "SD Ray functions as a strong wallbreaker and potential revenge killer or late game cleaner thanks to...."
  • Dragon Ascent is Rayquaza's go-to move with which it can 2HKO Skeledirge, Giratina-O, and most Arceus formes.

  • Swords Dance Rayquaza fits on more offensive teams where it can switch in on defensive Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Clodsire. maybe mention Ting-Lu; you don't setup on it but you can definitely come in on it Rayquaza pairs exceptionally well with Sticky Web setters such as..., as it can outspeed Zacian-C, faster Arceus, and non-Choice Scarf Koraidon and Miraidon which can all be OHKOed after a Swords Dance.
  • extra point here for other mons that appreciate it; E-killer is a good shout that forms a priority core and Taunt Arceus formes that stop Stealth Rock setters because Rayquaza loses HP fast through LO + Rocks switches.
