Second, Second, Not Second Place-Athens

Second VGC season, second regional. Despite worse placement than my Lake Buena Vista regional, I am viewing it as a greater accomplishment. To sum it up, LBV Seniors had really bad turnout, and there weren't many strong competitors. I ended up in 7th there, and 8th in Athens.

I stayed up late finishing the team with help from Victory Star and ended up getting less than 2 hours of sleep. Good job on my part. I was so tired I was delusional and asking lots of stupid questions such as, "Is that (referring to Mental Herb) legal?" I didn't sleep in the car on the way there, and didn't really sleep at all until we got into the car to come home. Too tired to move, I slept in the car some more long after we got back until I woke up again, obnoxiously thirsty. Back to sleep again after that for a few more hours. Still not enough.

Waiting in the registration line with GHornet and Remien, I see a guy in blue Skarmbliss shirt. He comes over and starts talking, and I find out that he is Dimsun. In my mind, I'm going, "WHAT?! NO! SENIORS?! WHY? I can forget my hopes of top 4 at this point!"

First round (0/0):
Versus Chance Dudley. 4-0'd. I only took damage from Life Orb. It was pretty quick, so I can't say much about it.
Second round (1/0):
Versus Christopher Hall. I lost this one 2-0. Well, sort of lost. Right before what would have been the end, my game froze. I accepted loss considering that I was about to lose anyway, and we went on from there. I got some bad hax in that one. In one turn, Suicune was affected by paralysis and my other pokemon-I think Hitmontop-flinched. Suicune was affected by paralysis seemingly unusually frequently in that battle.
Third Round (1/1):
Versus John Reese. Almost as soon as the battle started, we had to move to a charging station for my opponent. I think this one was a 3-0. My opponent really liked my Amoonguss. This, if memory serves correct, was my only battle that I used Amoonguss in.
4th Round (2/1):
Versus Christopher Packett. Apparently he has beaten my sister every time they were paired up. It was such an intense battle that we ran out of time, and neither of us were stalling. After the game judged, I was declared the winner. I was expecting it to be the other way around. In disbelief, shock, and excitement, I think I jumped up and down in my seat. We shook hands and parted.
5th Round (3/1):
Versus Sawyer Gardner. I almost missed this match. I was unaware that they posted the pairings and everyone was about to start. As the coordinator was calling for the matches to begin, I was rushing to my seat. Oops. I didn't get to take a picture of this one, so my mother took one for me. I knew that this guy had gone up against my sister before as well, but I don't know who the winner was. In any case, I was determined to win, as I was for all of my battles, but especially for the ones in which I knew my opponent's name from stories.
6th Round (4/1):
Versus Travis Williams. Unfortunately, I can't remember anything about this battle other than that I was stationed right next to where my previous battle was, that my opponent was male, and that I won. Errrrrrm....uhhh...yeah. If Travis Williams sees this, has our battle video, and would like to upload it, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
7th Round (5/1):
Versus Dimsun. Here's our video. 94-17639-88463 The whole tournament, I was dreading having to go up against him. Every time we have battled online in practice, he won. Encouraging, right? In this one, there was a lot me doing the expected when it wasn't expected, such as not immediately using Trick Room. I'm not going to go into details because you can just watch the video, and I feel that if I go into details, I would be redundant.

In the end, I choose to view my Athens 8th place to be better than my LBV 7th place. Considering that Athens had much better turnout, had more serious competitors, and more stronger competitors, it was probably more difficult. My team was supposed to be a composer team, but that didn't quite work after I named Abomasnow Sheldon and Amoonguss Dr. Hand. My favorite thing about my team is that I didn't see any other teams remotely like it. This goes well with my general strategy. Once AP exams are over, I'll be working to come up with a team better than this one that will do me good at nationals. Knowing myself, there's a lot in this thread that I'm going to see later that I want to edit, but at this point, I don't care enough. Good luck at nats everyone, and I'll be seeing you there! You'll be able to recognize me by toe socks on my hands and feet.

Good read, congrats on reaching 8th place! Pretty impressive considering the competition.

Nats will be serious business.

You've done something that I haven't tried to attempt to do yet, and that is writing a warstory! Nevertheless, this was very entertaining to read. Your warstory reminded me of your delusional questions and gave me a laugh. I will also continue to question your fashion sense, but it is definitely amusing to see you decked out in colorful toe socks.

I told you that your team was good! :)

Thanks to both of you. Victory Star, try writing one. I am always amused by your writings and look forward to reading yours, assuming that you post one.
