Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H and Cinderace and stop Dracovish from spamming Fishious Rend, giving it plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock; in addition, it can easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping keep Stealth Rock up. Unfortunately, Seismitoad suffers from being rather easy to take advantage of; Pokemon like Substitute Hydreigon and Rotom-C can easily switch in on Stealth Rock and Earth Power, and Magic Guard users like Clefable and Reuniclus don't fear Toxic. Furthermore, Seismitoad's exploitable bulk and lack of recovery outside of Leftovers leave it prone to being overwhelmed by Pokemon it should check like Dracovish, Rotom-H, Cinderace, and physical Aegislash and reliant on Wish for longevity.

Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available; its bulk, typing, and ability enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Hippowdon, and Dracovish and set it. Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins such as Dragapult, opposing Seismitoad, and Rotom-C. Earth Power is favored over Earthquake because of how Seismitoad is prone to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, it prevents Cloyster from setting up against Seismitoad, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex. However, Earthquake can be run to hit Gengar, Life Orb Clefable, and Hatterene for more damage. Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and prevents Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. Protect also helps out greatly with Seismitoad's longevity. Knock Off is also an option that helps cripple switch-ins like Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, and Venusaur. Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. A Relaxed nature also gives Seismitoad an easier time pressuring Corviknight, letting it land Ground-type attacks as Corviknight uses Roost. Water Absorb is necessary so Seismitoad can switch into Dracovish's Fishious Rend and wall Rotom-W.

Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, aiming to cripple them with Scald or Toxic may be preferable. Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. Additionally, Protect helps scout Trick users, which is beneficial to prevent Seismitoad from losing its Leftovers or gaining a harmful item. Since Seismitoad can be worn down rather easily, it's important to keep it healthy by passing Wishes to it.

Rotom-H is a great partner because it easily deals with Ferrothorn and Rotom-C as well as Mandibuzz and Corviknight; in return, Seismitoad is a great check to Water-types, its Stealth Rock helps pressure Dragapult and Hydreigon, and it can poison opposing Seismitoad, which helps Rotom-H overwhelm it in the long run. Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Kyurem, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates teammates like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides cleric support. Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily. In return, Seismitoad handles Water-types.

I feel like this is a bit too many mentions here; cut this list down to pult / rotom-c / seismi since those are the most important atm; since most hydra are now lo i feel like it's not really worth the risk of cutting down on its limited longevity. Same applies for mandi, but it's also fallen off quite a lot within the past few weeks so its def fair to keep it at those three for now. Earth Power is Seismitoad's best form of damage against foes like Ferrothorn and Toxapex; additionally, it's slightly favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W. The rotom formes are the biggest reason you're running epower rn; hitting pex harder isn't the important bit so rearrange that accordingly. e: remove ferro from this altogether However, Earthquake can be run to hit Tyranitar and Hatterene for more damage. Personally, I would much rather you mention something like excadrill / gengar / lo clef over ttarsince you can ohko driller / gengar (although it's a roll w/ driller) and letting lo clef in for free is really shitty, even if spdef fairies are everywhere + damage on ttar isn't as important if you scald burn it since you're more or less stopping it from doing what it wants to do

Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available; its bulk and typing enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Hippowdon, and Dracovish and set it. Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins such as Dragapult, Hydreigon, opposing Seismitoad, Mandibuzz, and Rotom-C. I feel like this is a bit too many mentions here; cut this list down to pult / rotom-c / seismi since those are the most important atm; since most hydra are now lo i feel like it's not really worth the risk of cutting down on its limited longevity. Same applies for mandi, but it's also fallen off quite a lot within the past few weeks so its def fair to keep it at those three for now. Earth Power is Seismitoad's best form of damage against foes like Ferrothorn and Toxapex; additionally, it's slightly favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W. The rotom formes are the biggest reason you're running epower rn; hitting pex harder isn't the important bit so rearrange that accordingly. e: remove ferro from this altogether However, Earthquake can be run to hit Tyranitar and Hatterene for more damage. Personally, I would much rather you mention something like excadrill / gengar / lo clef over ttarsince you can ohko driller / gengar (although it's a roll w/ driller) and letting lo clef in for free is really shitty, even if spdef fairies are everywhere + damage on ttar isn't as important if you scald burn it since you're more or less stopping it from doing what it wants to do

Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. A Relaxed nature also gives Seismitoad an easier time pressuring Corviknight, letting it land Ground-type attacks as Corviknight uses Roost. there were like two changes I used in the overview that were typo fixes/something I could see TDP yelling at me to fix from his previous checks, but everything else is subjective with no defense most of the time.

Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates teammates like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides cleric support. Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily. In return, Seismitoad handles Water-types.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon like that it checks, such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W, (AC) that it checks well as well as against and (word flow fix; also "checks well as well as" sounds ridiculous) Choice-locked foes like Dracovish and Toxtricity (no longer necessary w/ prior changes bc they're already in a list of examples). Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes Pokemon (optional; I think this sounds better here bc the examples aren't active at the beginning of the sentence) like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C, (AC) which that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, (which>that bc removing everything between the commas doesn't alter the meaning of the sentence) aiming to status with Scald or Toxic may be preferable. Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. Additionally, Protect helps scout Trick users, which is beneficial helps (verbose) to prevent Seismitoad from losing its Leftovers. (consider focusing this around Lefties being traded instead of Seismi losing Lefties, because they are technically still in the game (unlike KOff) and the drawback of the traded item is as big of an issue, if not bigger, than losing Leftovers) Since Seismitoad can be worn down rather easily, it's important to keep it healthy by passing Wishes to it.

Team Options
========

Rotom-H is a great partner because it easily deals with Ferrothorn and Rotom-C as well as Mandibuzz and Corviknight; in return, Seismitoad is a great check to Water-types, its Stealth Rock helps pressure Dragapult and Hydreigon, and it can poison opposing Seismitoad, which helps Rotom-H overwhelm it in the long run. Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates specially bulky teammates (sentence lacks meaning if you don't qualify the teammates) like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides cleric support. Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily (padding—don't state the obvious). In return, Seismitoad handles Water-types. (I think the purples would flow better if they were one sentence*)

Seismitoad has some use as an offensive Stealth Rock setter that can take advantage of its great coverage to threaten defensive cores; additionally, this variant has use under rain, which makes it even more potent offensively. However, Seismitoad suffers from a severe decrease in defensive merit and is very prediction reliant to successfully break down teams. (Rewrite this*—it's far too verbose and is vague about whether you mean Swift Swim or Water Absorb) Grass Knot helps against opposing Seismitoad and Gastrodon, but it's difficult to fit onto the set. Gastro Acid is useful against ability-reliant Pokemon like Toxapex, Clefable, and Conkeldurr, preventing them from taking advantage of Seismitoad as easily. (You could probably mention GK and GA in one sentence here, as they seem to have the same key drawback (not enough moveslots) and it would probably be useful to highlight that explicitly for GA too—maybe structure like "GK [qualify], and GA [qualify]. However, [shared drawback]")

Checks and Counters
===================

**Magic Guard and Magic Bounce Users**: Clefable and Reuniclus can easily switch into Seismitoad, fearing very little from it due to their bulk and ability and using it as setup fodder for entry hazards or stat boosts. Furthermore, offensive Clefable variants heavily pressure Seismitoad with their STAB Moonblast. (optional, but I don't personally think STAB is necessary to note here) Hatterene and Xatu are a bit more problematic, since they bounce back Seismitoad's Stealth Rock and Toxic.

**Ferrothorn and Rotom-C**: Although neither appreciate being statused, Ferrothorn threatens to OHKO Seismitoad with an OHKO via Power Whip (Don't dance around the point. Also, "via" is pretentious in this context) and can use it as setup fodder for Spikes, while and Rotom-C can set Substitute and Nasty Plot against it.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Pokemon like Choice Specs Dragapult, Nasty Plot Hydreigon, and Choice Specs Aegislash heavily pressure Seismitoad due to its lesser special bulk. Furthermore, Hydreigon can freely set up Substitute against Seismitoad.

"(This sentence doesn't mean anything ("by virtue of its great utility" is vague filler), and it would be much better positioned later in the paragraph)" I disagree that this is "vague filler" that "doesn't mean anything"; it receives meaning/clarification from the following sentence. I also disagree with your assertion that the general themes of this sentence fit better later; from my experience (this is an entirely subjective take here), addressing a Pokemon's position in a tier in a general sense and then getting more specific is preferred.

"(Spelling and Grammar Standards: "Avoid using "while" as a substitute for "and"; either use it in a strictly temporal sense, or make sure there is a connotation of "on the one hand / on the other hand" present.")" Yeah this seems like an incredibly outdated standard that I have never seen enforced a single time, so I'm asking about this. EDIT: consulted higher up GP people and was told this distinction is about as relevant as "like" vs "such as" i.e. there is a difference, but it's not very important.

I think it would be better to rewrite everything before this so that you can highlight it when you mention what Seismitoad checks more organically*)" This can probably be worked into one of the first two sentences to prevent it from coming off as so disjoint from them.

"(verbose)" There are some cases in here that word count could be lessened. I'll check on all of them and see which I agree with. As I go through your "verbose" comments, I see some that are reasonable but others that are unnecessarily strict. For example, "is beneficial" vs "helps"---there's no real gain here, and both have the same meaning.

"("access to Magic Guard" is objective, so "pokemon like [i.e. similar to]" doesn't work here)" They mean the same thing as far as Smogon Grammar Standards are concerned; the differences between the two are incredibly irrelevant, and I can make a case that, by using your definition" "like" is necessary because there are other Pokemon with the abilities that are not included in the list that still function the same as those I included.

"(Repetitive (switching in and forcing out = switching in and taking advantage of))" Sure.

"(Repetitive; mention phys Aegi in the other list and cut this out entirely)" No mention of exploitable bulk is made prior to this list; I fail to see how this is repetitive.

"(I'd argue these two purple sections could very easily be one sentence, as they are saying broadly the same thing. I think you could maybe also cut out the clunky "because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing" by just implying it earlier on in the paragraph with a phrase like "above-average bulk")" Yeah, I think putting these two sentences together would work better.

Using "that" maintains an open swath of Pokemon that can switch in and take advantage of Seismitoad on turns it sets Stealth Rock.

I'm fine with adding a mention of receiving a negative item, however.

"(sentence lacks meaning if you don't qualify the teammates)" Given the sentence already specifies it is being threatened by special attackers, I find it unnecessary to mention specially defensive teammates. It is reasonable to assume the reader understands this.

A general comment: in your check, you randomly removed words and caused sentences to be incomplete or read like well, a word was missing. Be careful. Go over your checks and ensure they read properly. Otherwise, this could result in more work for the following GPer.

Verbosity is generally only an issue if it severely affects readability; some GPers are more strict with it, while others aren't, so it's up to you to find your own "identity" or whatever lol.

Earth Power is favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is prone (better for parallelism) to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, it prevents Cloyster from setting up against Seismitoad, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex. However, Earthquake can be run to hit Gengar, Life Orb Clefable, and Hatterene for more damage. Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and prevents Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. Protect also helps out greatly with Seismitoad's longevity. Knock Off is also an option that helps cripple switch-ins like Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, and Venusaur.
