[OVERVIEW]

Seismitoad is a top-tier Stealth Rock setter and defensive Pokemon by virtue of its great utility. Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H and Cinderace and stop Dracovish from spamming Fishious Rend, giving it plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock; in addition, it can easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping keep Stealth Rock up. Unfortunately, Seismitoad suffers from being rather easy to take advantage of; Pokemon like Substitute Hydreigon and Rotom-C can easily switch in on Stealth Rock and Earth Power, and Magic Guard users like Clefable and Reuniclus don't fear Toxic. Furthermore, Seismitoad's exploitable bulk and lack of recovery outside of Leftovers leave it prone to being overwhelmed by Pokemon it should check like Dracovish, Rotom-H, Cinderace, and physical Aegislash and reliant on Wish for longevity.

Set Description
========

Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available; its bulk, typing, and ability enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Hippowdon, and Dracovish and set it. Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins such as Dragapult, opposing Seismitoad, and Rotom-C. Earth Power is favored over Earthquake because of how Seismitoad is prone to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, it prevents Cloyster from setting up against Seismitoad, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex. However, Earthquake can be run to hit Gengar, Life Orb Clefable, and Hatterene for more damage. Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and prevents Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. Protect also helps out greatly with Seismitoad's longevity. Knock Off is also an option that helps cripple switch-ins like Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, and Venusaur. Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. A Relaxed nature also gives Seismitoad an easier time pressuring Corviknight, letting it land Ground-type attacks as Corviknight uses Roost. Water Absorb is necessary so Seismitoad can switch into Dracovish's Fishious Rend and wall Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon it checks, such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Choice-locked Dracovish, Terrakion, and Toxtricity. Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, aiming to cripple them with Scald or Toxic may be preferable. Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. Additionally, Protect helps scout Trick users, which is beneficial to prevent Seismitoad from losing its Leftovers or gaining a harmful item. Since Seismitoad can be worn down rather easily, it's important to keep it healthy by passing Wishes to it.

Team Options
========

Rotom-H is a great partner because it easily deals with Ferrothorn and Rotom-C as well as Mandibuzz and Corviknight; in return, Seismitoad is a great check to Water-types, its Stealth Rock helps pressure Dragapult and Hydreigon, and it can poison opposing Seismitoad, which helps Rotom-H overwhelm it in the long run. Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Kyurem, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates teammates like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides cleric support. Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily. In return, Seismitoad handles Water-types.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Seismitoad has some use as an offensive Stealth Rock setter that can take advantage of its great coverage to threaten defensive cores; additionally, this variant has use under rain with Swift Swim, which makes it even more potent offensively. However, Seismitoad suffers from a severe decrease in defensive merit and is very prediction reliant to successfully break down teams. Grass Knot helps against opposing Seismitoad and Gastrodon, and Gastro Acid is useful against ability-reliant Pokemon like Toxapex, Clefable, and Conkeldurr, preventing them from taking advantage of Seismitoad as easily. However, they are difficult to fit onto the set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Magic Guard and Magic Bounce Users**: Clefable and Reuniclus can easily switch into Seismitoad, fearing very little from it due to their bulk and ability and using it as setup fodder for entry hazards or stat boosts. Furthermore, offensive Clefable variants heavily pressure Seismitoad with their STAB Moonblast. Hatterene and Xatu are a bit more problematic, since they bounce back Seismitoad's Stealth Rock and Toxic.

**Grass-types**: Although neither appreciate being statused, Ferrothorn threatens Seismitoad with an OHKO via Power Whip and can use it as setup fodder for Spikes, while Rotom-C can set Substitute and Nasty Plot against it. Venusaur is especially problematic given its immunity to Toxic, and it can easily set up with Growth against Seismitoad.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Pokemon like Choice Specs Dragapult, Nasty Plot Hydreigon, and Choice Specs Aegislash heavily pressure Seismitoad due to its lesser special bulk. Furthermore, Hydreigon can freely set Substitute against Seismitoad.

  • Seismitoad is a top-tier Stealth Rock setter and defensive Pokemon by virtue of its great utility.
  • Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H, Dracovish, and Cinderace, giving it plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock, while it can easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping keep Stealth Rock up. You should stress the fact that it's immune to Water a bit more.
  • Unfortunately, Seismitoad suffers from being rather passive; it relies greatly on poison from Toxic and burn from Scald to handle Pokemon like Substitute + Nasty Plot Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, and Rotom-C, and it's unable to prevent Magic Guard users like Clefable and Reuniclus from switching in and forcing it out. I disagree with the notion that Seismitoad is rather passive in general, it can be very punishing to switch into between Scald and Toxic. Just say that it can be taken advantage of because it creates some pretty free turns for Pokemon like Hydreigon when it wants to set Stealth Rock.
  • Furthermore, because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing, it can be overwhelmed by coverage moves from strong wallbreakers like Dracovish and Aegislash. Seismitoad isn't overwhelmed by coverage moves from Aegislash; it's just overwhelmed by Aegislash. You could probably find a better example for this.

  • Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available; its bulk and typing enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Dracovish and set it. There's definitely more relevant examples you could mention than Rotom-W.
  • Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins such as Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C. It's also useful for Mandibuzz and can be useful against opposing Seismitoad.
  • Earth Power is Seismitoad's best form of damage against foes like Ferrothorn and Toxapex; additionally, it's slightly favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is to being burned by what Pokemon?. Seismitoad's immune to Scald, the main move that people associate with burning Pokemon so it's worth elaborating a bit here. However, Earthquake can be run to hit Tyranitar and Hatterene for more damage.
  • Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. Protect's especially good because Seismitoad can be worn down significantly quicker without it.
  • Grass Knot is a more niche option that helps against opposing Seismitoad, but it's difficult to fit onto the set.
  • Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. You could point out that a Relaxed nature makes Seismitoad slower than Corviknight; being able to pressure it when it uses Roost can often prove to be useful. Water Absorb is necessary so Seismitoad can switch into Dracovish's Fishious Rend and wall Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

  • Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Rotom-H and Rotom-W that it checks well as well as against Choice-locked foes like Dracovish and Gengar.
  • Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, aiming to status them with Scald or Toxic may be preferable.
  • Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. The fact that Seismitoad can often trade a Toxic with other Seismitoad is also great for Rotom-H because it really enables it to pressure Seismitoad.
  • Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates teammates like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, while Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish. I think you should also mention Clefable here. It offers some cool things for Seismitoad that Sylveon doesn't, with the most notable being Aromatherapy, which gives Seismitoad more freedom to trade against a lot of Pokemon.
  • Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily. In return, Seismitoad handles Water- and Fire-types. I don't think you need to mention Fire-types because none are particularly good checks to Excadrill.

  • Seismitoad has some use on rain teams as an offensive Stealth Rock setters that can take advantage of rain with Swift Swim and its great coverage; however, such sets suffer from a severe decrease in defensive merit. Also point out that it needs to be played almost perfectly in order to overwhelm teams.

Because you could also mention this when you talk about Magic Guard users.

Its Water immunity is particularly strong due to the prevalence of Water-types like Toxapex as well as the health restoration that comes with switching into Water-type attacks.
Toxapex isn't the best example here because Toad does like not even 50% to Pex with Earth Power and just gets crippled by Toxic, which greatly limits its durability. Toad should only ever switch into Pex if it's absolutely positive that it's not packing this move. I'd rather you mention that it greatly limits Dracovish's ability to click Fishious Rend, considering that's the main reason why Water immunes are so important rn anyway.

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Rotom-H and Rotom-W that it checks well as well as against Choice-locked foes like Dracovish and Gengar.
I don't like Gengar here personally. Specs Sludge Wave still chunks the fuck out of Toad, while Bomb has that Poison chance. Any of its other moves just melt it or cripple it (Trick).

This is nitpicky but I've definitely seen some success with offensive Toad outside of rain. Rain is fucking dicks anyway, so I'd definitely mention that it's not just restricted to rain.

Looks good QC 2/3

[OVERVIEW]

Seismitoad is a top-tier Stealth Rock setter and defensive Pokemon by virtue of its great utility. Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H, Dracovish, and Cinderace, giving it plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock,(RC) while it can as well as letting it easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping it keep Stealth Rock up. Its Water immunity is particularly strong due to the prevalence of Dracovish as well as the health restoration that comes with switching into Water-type attacks. Unfortunately, Seismitoad suffers from being rather easy to take advantage of;(RSC),(AC) as Pokemon like Substitute Hydreigon and Rotom-C can easily switch in on Stealth Rock and Earth Power, and it's unable to prevent Magic Guard users like Clefable and Reuniclus from switching in and forcing it out. Furthermore, because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing, it's prone to being overwhelmed by Pokemon it should check like Dracovish, Rotom-H, Cinderace, and physical Aegislash. Seismitoad also lacks any form of recovery outside of Leftovers, making it extremely reliant on Wish to stay healthy.

Set Description
========

Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available; its bulk and typing enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Hippowdon, and Dracovish and set it up. Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins,(AC) such as Dragapult, opposing Seismitoad, and Rotom-C. Earth Power is slightly favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex. However, Earthquake can be run to hit Gengar, Life Orb Clefable, and Hatterene for more damage harder. Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users,(AC) such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. In addition,(AC) Protect also greatly helps out greatly with Seismitoad's longevity. Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. A Relaxed nature also gives Seismitoad an easier time pressuring Corviknight, letting it land Ground-type attacks as Corviknight on the turn it uses Roost. Water Absorb is necessary so to allow Seismitoad can to switch into Dracovish's Fishious Rend and wall Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon it can check well,(AC) like Rotom-H and Rotom-W,(AC) that it checks well as well as against Choice-locked foes like Dracovish and Toxtricity. Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C that can take advantage of exploit it (removed mainly to avoid the repetition of the same construction "take advantage of") rather easily on turns it sets up Stealth Rock, aiming to status them with Scald or Toxic may be preferable. Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. Additionally, Protect helps scout Trick users, which is beneficial to prevent Seismitoad from losing its Leftovers. Since Seismitoad can be worn down rather easily, It's also important to keep it Seismitoad healthy by passing Wishes to it,(AC) since it can be worn down rather easily.

Team Options
========

Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates Teammates like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon are appreciated,(AC) as Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable; furthermore (I feel like, after changing the order of the two sentences, "furthermore" wouldn't really be the best choice to connect the next sentence to the previous one, as the purpose of the next sentence is to explain what each of Seismitoad's teammates respectively does in a more specific way and why are they appreciated) as a matter of fact, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides offers cleric support.

=============

Seismitoad has some use as an offensive Stealth Rock setter that can take advantage of its great coverage to threaten defensive cores; additionally, this variant has use (removed to avoid repetition of the same construction "to have use") is effective under rain, which makes it even more potent offensively. However, Seismitoad suffers from a severe decrease in defensive merit and is very prediction-reliant (AH) to successfully break down teams. Grass Knot helps against opposing Seismitoad as well as Gastrodon, but it's difficult to fit onto the set. Gastro Acid is useful against ability-reliant Pokemon like Toxapex, Clefable, and Conkeldurr, preventing them from taking advantage of Seismitoad as easily.

there were like two changes I used in the overview that were typo fixes/something I could see TDP yelling at me to fix from his previous checks, but everything else is subjective with no defense most of the time.

set Stealth Rock/Spikes/Sticky Web = set up x/y/z. there is no difference in meaning.

the first overview change (while it can -> as well as) changes sentence meaning; those properties of Seismitoad aren't what let it punish removers.

semicolon -> , as is subjective and disrupts flow if anything.

comma before lists preceded by "such as" is essentially never mandatory, and none of the cases you added on in this check help remove ambiguity.

for more damage and harder mean the same thing.

in addition and also have the same meaning

as Corviknight and on the turn it have the same meaning

so x can and to allow x to have the same meaning

I think a point here has been made: most of the changes in this AMcheck are changing diction for the sake of changing diction. No real improvements to prose or flow were made in any of them in my opinion.

you've also claimed a couple times that you made a change to avoid repetition, yet there was either no repetition to fix, or the repetition was a single-time occurrence, in which case that's fine. you only really need to care about repetitive phrasing when it's throughout a paragraph/4 times or so in a row.

provides and offers mean the same thing.

prediction reliant should NOT have a hyphen. compound adjectives only take a hyphen if they precede a noun. the only exception to this rule is for "established" compound adjectives, an example of which would be "state-of-the-art"; this doesn't really apply to Smogon writing at all, so the issue should never come up.

you also changed up word order a few times, and in no cases did it really do anything to improve flow.

I think the most important thing as an AMchecker is to ask yourself after every check "is what I've done necessary/does this change improve the quality of the writing?". if you have any doubt whatsoever as to if a suggested change of yours isn't objective, defend it. this shows the GPTLs that you're, at the very least, considering things like flow, repetitiveness, word choice, etc. in your checks.

good luck in your future ams

With the rise of Cloyster, I think it's worth noting that Earth Power prevents it from setting up against Seismitoad. You can probably unslash Earthquake altogether.

Seismitoad is a top-tier Stealth Rock setter and defensive Pokemon because its by virtue of its great utility. (This sentence doesn't mean anything ("by virtue of its great utility" is vague filler), and it would be much better positioned later in the paragraph) Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H, Dracovish, and Cinderace, giving it plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock, while and (Spelling and Grammar Standards: "Avoid using "while" as a substitute for "and"; either use it in a strictly temporal sense, or make sure there is a connotation of "on the one hand / on the other hand" present.") it can easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping keep Stealth Rock up. This combination of traits makes Seismitoad one of the best defensive Stealth Rock setters in the tier. Its Water immunity is particularly strong due to the prevalence of Dracovish as well as the health restoration that comes with switching into Water-type attacks. (This sentence feels like padding. I think it would be better to rewrite everything before this so that you can highlight it when you mention what Seismitoad checks more organically*) Unfortunately, Seismitoad suffers from being rather easy to take is easily taken advantage (verbose) of; by Pokemon like Substitute Hydreigon and Rotom-C, which can easily switch in on Stealth Rock and Earth Power, and it's unable to prevent (verbose) Magic Guard users like such as ("access to Magic Guard" is objective, so "pokemon like [i.e. similar to]" doesn't work here) Clefable and Reuniclus from switching in and forcing it out. (Repetitive (switching in and forcing out = switching in and taking advantage of)) Furthermore, because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing, it's prone to being overwhelmed by Pokemon it should check like Dracovish, Rotom-H, Cinderace, and physical Aegislash. (Repetitive; mention phys Aegi in the other list and cut this out entirely) Seismitoad also lacks any form of recovery outside of Leftovers, making it extremely reliant on Wish to stay healthy. (I'd argue these two purple sections could very easily be one sentence, as they are saying broadly the same thing. I think you could maybe also cut out the clunky "because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing" by just implying it earlier on in the paragraph with a phrase like "above-average bulk")

Maybe consider changing it to something like this?

"Seismitoad's typing and above average bulk allow it to check prevelant Pokemon like Rotom-H, Cinderace, and physical Aegislash, and Water Absorb makes it one of the few consistent switch-ins to Dracovish's Fisheous Rend. This, alongside its ability to punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz and Excadrill, makes Seismitoad one of the best defensive Stealth Rock setters in the tier."

This attempts conserve the broad ideas that you were trying to get across and your preferred word choice (setter>user, prevelant>common etc.) and makes it less verbose. I also think it's probably better to separate the comment about it punishing hazard removal from the rest, as it's a pretty distinct point from it being a good defensive pick.

Set Description
========

Seismitoad is one of the best Stealth Rock setters available;(RSC) because its bulk, ability, and typing enable it to switch into Pokemon like Rotom-H, Hippowdon, and Dracovish and set it. (added ability bc that's the only reason it checks Dracovish) Toxic lets Seismitoad cripple common switch-ins such as Dragapult, opposing Seismitoad, and Rotom-C. Earth Power is slightly (it'd be slashed if the difference was that little) favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex. (<-- mention what Jordy said about Cloyster in this sentence) However, Earthquake can be run to hit Gengar, Life Orb Clefable, and Hatterene for more damage. Scald dissuades Corviknight from Pressure stalling Seismitoad out of Stealth Rock PP and Ferrothorn from directly switching into it. Alternatively, Protect lets Seismitoad scout Choice item users such as Dragapult, Aegislash, and Dracovish and allows it to rack up poison damage. Protect also helps out greatly with Seismitoad's longevity. Maximum investment into physical bulk lets Seismitoad take hits from foes like Excadrill and Tyranitar as best as possible, with a Bold nature being preferred with Earth Power and Relaxed alongside Earthquake. (I don't think this bit is necessary now that EQ is no longer slashed, and removing it lets you reword the whole section about investment+nature to mention the speed benefit in a less verbose way) A Relaxed nature also gives Seismitoad an easier time pressuring Corviknight, letting it land Ground-type attacks as Corviknight uses Roost. Water Absorb is necessary so Seismitoad can switch into Dracovish's Fishious Rend and wall Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon like that it checks, such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W, (AC) that it checks well as well as against and (word flow fix; also "checks well as well as" sounds ridiculous) Choice-locked foes like Dracovish and Toxtricity (no longer necessary w/ prior changes bc they're already in a list of examples). Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes Pokemon (optional; I think this sounds better here bc the examples aren't active at the beginning of the sentence) like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C, (AC) which that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, (which>that bc removing everything between the commas doesn't alter the meaning of the sentence) aiming to status with Scald or Toxic may be preferable. Although Seismitoad can take certain attacks from Pokemon like Dracovish, Choice item Aegislash, and Choice Specs Dragapult, it's vulnerable to their other attacks; scout them with Protect to determine your best way of playing against them. Additionally, Protect helps scout Trick users, which is beneficial helps (verbose) to prevent Seismitoad from losing its Leftovers. (consider focusing this around Lefties being traded instead of Seismi losing Lefties, because they are technically still in the game (unlike KOff) and the drawback of the traded item is as big of an issue, if not bigger, than losing Leftovers) Since Seismitoad can be worn down rather easily, it's important to keep it healthy by passing Wishes to it.

Team Options
========

Because Seismitoad can be overwhelmed by strong special attackers like Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Life Orb Clefable, it appreciates specially bulky teammates (sentence lacks meaning if you don't qualify the teammates) like Mandibuzz, Corviknight, Clefable, and Sylveon; furthermore, Mandibuzz and Corviknight provide Defog support, Sylveon helps keep Seismitoad healthy with Wish, and Clefable provides cleric support. Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill pairs well with Seismitoad because it can remove entry hazards, which prevents Seismitoad from being overwhelmed by coverage options as easily (padding—don't state the obvious). In return, Seismitoad handles Water-types. (I think the purples would flow better if they were one sentence*)

For example:

"Similarly to Mandibuzz and Corviknight, Excadrill is can remove entry hazards for Seismitoad, and Seismitoad covers Water-types in return."

Whatever you think flows best.

Other Options
=============

Seismitoad has some use as an offensive Stealth Rock setter that can take advantage of its great coverage to threaten defensive cores; additionally, this variant has use under rain, which makes it even more potent offensively. However, Seismitoad suffers from a severe decrease in defensive merit and is very prediction reliant to successfully break down teams. (Rewrite this*—it's far too verbose and is vague about whether you mean Swift Swim or Water Absorb) Grass Knot helps against opposing Seismitoad and Gastrodon, but it's difficult to fit onto the set. Gastro Acid is useful against ability-reliant Pokemon like Toxapex, Clefable, and Conkeldurr, preventing them from taking advantage of Seismitoad as easily. (You could probably mention GK and GA in one sentence here, as they seem to have the same key drawback (not enough moveslots) and it would probably be useful to highlight that explicitly for GA too—maybe structure like "GK [qualify], and GA [qualify]. However, [shared drawback]")

For example:

"Seismitoad can be used as an offensive Stealth Rock user on rain teams thanks to its good offensive coverage [and access to Swift Swim (if this is relevant)], but it sacrifices lots of bulk and is very prediction reliant [due to its mediocre Special Attack stat (optional)]."

If the mention of rain wasn't exclusive, find a less vague and verbose way of saying it

Checks and Counters
===================

(optional, but I don't personally think STAB is necessary to note here) Hatterene and Xatu are a bit more problematic, since they bounce back Seismitoad's Stealth Rock and Toxic.

**Ferrothorn and Rotom-C**: Although neither appreciate being statused, Ferrothorn threatens to OHKO Seismitoad with an OHKO via Power Whip (Don't dance around the point. Also, "via" is pretentious in this context) and can use it as setup fodder for Spikes, while and Rotom-C can set Substitute and Nasty Plot against it.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Pokemon like Choice Specs Dragapult, Nasty Plot Hydreigon, and Choice Specs Aegislash heavily pressure Seismitoad due to its lesser special bulk. Furthermore, Hydreigon can freely set up Substitute against Seismitoad.

will do changes later because I need to more thoroughly check if there are actual content changes being made here, but let me address specific comments:

"(This sentence doesn't mean anything ("by virtue of its great utility" is vague filler), and it would be much better positioned later in the paragraph)" I disagree that this is "vague filler" that "doesn't mean anything"; it receives meaning/clarification from the following sentence. I also disagree with your assertion that the general themes of this sentence fit better later; from my experience (this is an entirely subjective take here), addressing a Pokemon's position in a tier in a general sense and then getting more specific is preferred.

"(Spelling and Grammar Standards: "Avoid using "while" as a substitute for "and"; either use it in a strictly temporal sense, or make sure there is a connotation of "on the one hand / on the other hand" present.")" Yeah this seems like an incredibly outdated standard that I have never seen enforced a single time, so I'm asking about this. EDIT: consulted higher up GP people and was told this distinction is about as relevant as "like" vs "such as" i.e. there is a difference, but it's not very important.

"(This sentence feels like padding. I think it would be better to rewrite everything before this so that you can highlight it when you mention what Seismitoad checks more organically*)" This can probably be worked into one of the first two sentences to prevent it from coming off as so disjoint from them.

"(verbose)" There are some cases in here that word count could be lessened. I'll check on all of them and see which I agree with. As I go through your "verbose" comments, I see some that are reasonable but others that are unnecessarily strict. For example, "is beneficial" vs "helps"---there's no real gain here, and both have the same meaning.

"("access to Magic Guard" is objective, so "pokemon like [i.e. similar to]" doesn't work here)" They mean the same thing as far as Smogon Grammar Standards are concerned; the differences between the two are incredibly irrelevant, and I can make a case that, by using your definition" "like" is necessary because there are other Pokemon with the abilities that are not included in the list that still function the same as those I included.

"(Repetitive (switching in and forcing out = switching in and taking advantage of))" Sure.

"(Repetitive; mention phys Aegi in the other list and cut this out entirely)" No mention of exploitable bulk is made prior to this list; I fail to see how this is repetitive.

"(I'd argue these two purple sections could very easily be one sentence, as they are saying broadly the same thing. I think you could maybe also cut out the clunky "because Seismitoad's bulk isn't amazing" by just implying it earlier on in the paragraph with a phrase like "above-average bulk")" Yeah, I think putting these two sentences together would work better.

"(added ability bc that's the only reason it checks Dracovish)" Fair.

"(it'd be slashed if the difference was that little)" Fair, didn't check back over some of the sentences after QC said to deslash Earthquake.

"(<-- mention what Jordy said about Cloyster in this sentence)" Yep, good catch.

"(I don't think this bit is necessary now that EQ is no longer slashed, and removing it lets you reword the whole section about investment+nature to mention the speed benefit in a less verbose way)" I disagree that there is anything verbose about the sentence, and I'm also of the opinion it's fine to keep it because of the second point (catching Corviknight). If QC wants to chime in on the important of Bold vs Relaxed, they can.

"word flow fix; also "checks well as well as" sounds ridiculous)" This isn't really a matter of word flow so much as it is cutting down on words, but I think the changes are fine. Also "checks well as well as" is fine; it's just unfortunate.

"(optional; I think this sounds better here bc the examples aren't active at the beginning of the sentence)" Being on the opposing team = foes. There's no gain to making the change.

"(which>that bc removing everything between the commas doesn't alter the meaning of the sentence)" In general yes, but that > which here because the list isn't meant to be restrictive to those three Pokemon. Using "that" maintains an open swath of Pokemon that can switch in and take advantage of Seismitoad on turns it sets Stealth Rock.

"(consider focusing this around Lefties being traded instead of Seismi losing Lefties, because they are technically still in the game (unlike KOff) and the drawback of the traded item is as big of an issue, if not bigger, than losing Leftovers)" First point is largely irrelevant to the actual meaning of the sentence; as far as Seismitoad is concerned, it no longer has Leftovers = it has lost Leftovers. I'm fine with adding a mention of receiving a negative item, however.

"(sentence lacks meaning if you don't qualify the teammates)" Given the sentence already specifies it is being threatened by special attackers, I find it unnecessary to mention specially defensive teammates. It is reasonable to assume the reader understands this.

"(padding—don't state the obvious)" I disagree that it isn't worth mentioning; a big issue Seismitoad faces is being overwhelmed by coverage, and entry hazard removal aids against that.

"(I think the purples would flow better if they were one sentence*)" I don't think anything positive is gained from doing so.

"(Rewrite this*—it's far too verbose and is vague about whether you mean Swift Swim or Water Absorb)" I disagree that it's verbose, but I can specify Swift Swim because I can see the ambiguity behind it.

"(You could probably mention GK and GA in one sentence here, as they seem to have the same key drawback (not enough moveslots) and it would probably be useful to highlight that explicitly for GA too—maybe structure like "GK [qualify], and GA [qualify]. However, [shared drawback]")" Sure, although I think it'd be better to state their purposes in one sentences and then that drawback in a following sentence.

"(optional, but I don't personally think STAB is necessary to note here)" Removing the mention of STAB is a content change, which is bad. It doesn't really make a difference whether or not it's there, but removing it doesn't do anything meaningful.

"(Don't dance around the point. Also, "via" is pretentious in this context)" No dancing was done, and I have no idea what you mean by this second sentence.

Now I'll address some of your red/blue changes.

Removing the semicolon in favor of "because" is unnecessary and doesn't positively affect the sentence.

set = set up. There is no difference in meaning.

There were only these two because most of your others were addressed above.

A general comment: in your check, you randomly removed words and caused sentences to be incomplete or read like well, a word was missing. Be careful. Go over your checks and ensure they read properly. Otherwise, this could result in more work for the following GPer.

Verbosity is generally only an issue if it severely affects readability; some GPers are more strict with it, while others aren't, so it's up to you to find your own "identity" or whatever lol.

I'll implement changes I agreed with, good luck in your future checks.

Seismitoad is a top-tier Stealth Rock setter and defensive Pokemon by virtue of its great utility. Seismitoad's typing and ability allow it to switch into prevalent Pokemon like Rotom-H and Cinderace and stop Dracovish from spamming Fishious Rend, giving it plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock, (RC) while (realistically this is just a run-on sentence that kind of jarringly swaps to the following topic. helped by a semicolon.); in addition, it can easily punish common entry hazard removers like Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Excadrill, helping keep Stealth Rock up.

Earth Power is favored over Earthquake because of how prone Seismitoad is prone (better for parallelism) to being burned by Rotom-H and Rotom-W, it prevents Cloyster from setting up against Seismitoad, and it does a bit more damage to Toxapex.

Usage Tips

Seismitoad is presented with plenty of opportunities to set Stealth Rock against Pokemon it checks, such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Choice-locked Dracovish, Terrakion, and Toxtricity. Since Seismitoad commonly draws in foes like Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, and Rotom-C that can take advantage of it rather easily on turns it sets Stealth Rock, aiming to status (not a fan of using "status" as a verb given it is DEFINITELY supposed to be a noun) cripple them with Scald or Toxic may be preferable.

===================
