Shaymin? What the heck is THAT? *Warstory*

Hey, first ever warstory! Go me, or something.

First up, my team, in order of appearance.

And with that out of the way, here we go!

§ømething sent out Tauros.
Notty sent out Ambipom.
Tauros's intimidate cut Ambipom's attack!

Pretty standard Ambipom strategy here. Smack’m with Fake Out, then U-Turn to something that won’t be kersploded by a CB Return.

§ømething switched in Skarmory.
Ambipom used Fake Out.
It's not very effective...
Skarmory lost 6% of its health.
Skarmory's leftovers restored a little health!
Skarmory restored 6% of its health.

Damndamndamn…It’s pretty obvious from just glancing up there that my team has a pretty rough time with Skar. It’s so unfair, why can’t people just use teams that I can 6-0 with Splash Magikarp? Ah well. Given that my options are either A)Make a whine thread about how Skarmory is uber or B) U-Turn to something that won’t give Skar a free ride, I decide on the latter.

---
Ambipom used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Skarmory lost 2% of its health.
Notty switched in Gallade.
Skarmory used Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Skarmory's leftovers restored a little health!
Skarmory restored 6% of its health.
---
§ømething: eh
§ømething: meh

Apparently, my opponent here isn’t all that bothered by the appearance of my psychic knight, here. Well, I’ll learn him a thing or two…

Gallade used Hypnosis.
Skarmory fell asleep!
Skarmory is fast asleep!
---
§ømething switched in Shaymin.
Gallade used Will-o-wisp.
Shaymin was burned!
Shaymin was hurt by its burn!
Shaymin lost 12% of its health.
---

Okay, so, on the plus side, I put his Skar down for a few turns, hopefully, and with the magic of double-status, burned his switch-in. On the otherhand…is that a freaking Shaymin? Who the hell uses *Shaymin*? I figure it probably carries Seed Flare, but I’m drawing a blank as to what else the little chia pet could do.

But, hey, it’s Grass, and Gallade’s got just the right answer for that.

Gallade used Ice Punch.
It's super effective!
Shaymin lost 35% of its health.
Shaymin used Aromatherapy.
Shaymin's leftovers restored a little health!
Shaymin restored 6% of its health.
---

Wonderful. Stupid 100/100/100 Defenses. On top of that, Skar’s awake again. Just great.

Oh well, best keep at it.

Gallade used Ice Punch.
It's super effective!
Shaymin lost 36% of its health.
Shaymin used Rest.
Shaymin fell asleep!
Shaymin restored 77% of its health.
---

That went well. -_-

See, here’s mistake No.1 (Expect a lot more to come.) I forgot that Shaymin has Natural Cure, so I didn’t realize he’d probably switch out here.

§ømething switched in Jirachi.
Gallade used Ice Punch.
It's not very effective...
Jirachi lost 7% of its health.
Jirachi's leftovers restored a little health!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.

Jirachi's leftovers restored a little health!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
Jirachi was hurt by its burn!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.
---

Well, I flailed around uselessly, and he got Stealth Rock up. This fight just keeps getting better and better, doesn’t it? Time to do what I probably should’ve done a turn ago.

Notty switched in Swampert.
Swampert was hurt by Spikes!
Swampert lost 12% of its health.

§ømething switched in Shaymin.
Swampert's leftovers restored a little health!
Swampert restored 6% of its health.
---

What? He’s awake? …Oh, Shaymin has Natural Cure, doesn’t it?

That thumping sound you’re hearing is me slamming my head against my desk.

Okay, it’s time to put him back on the defensive.

Notty switched in Heracross.
Heracross was hurt by Spikes!
Heracross lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Heracross.
Heracross lost 12% of its health.
Shaymin used Seed Flare.
It's not very effective...

Alright, now c’mon, switch to Skarmory, I know you wannna…

Heracross used Close Combat.
Skarmory lost 55% of its health.
§ømething's Skarmory fainted.
Heracross's defence was lowered.
Heracross's special defence was lowered.
---

6-5

See this? This *right here* is why Choice Scarf is not always the best choice for Hera.

2HKO Skarmory with Heracross is a glorious thing.

§ømething switched in Alakazam.
Alakazam used Psychic.
It's super effective!
Heracross lost 334% of its health.
Notty's Heracross fainted.
---

5-5
Well, with Skarmy dead, Hera’s purpose is served, as I don’t want to let anyone else go down the drain just yet. In retrospect, I think sacrificing someone else to save Hera might have saved me some grief down the line, but…eh.

Notty switched in Ambipom.

Alakazam lost 69% of its health.
Gallade's defence was lowered.
Gallade's special defence was lowered.
Gallade's leftovers restored a little health!
Gallade restored 6% of its health.
---

Mistake No.3: Not realizing he’d just swap Jirachi in to take lol% damage from Fake Out

Mistake No.4: Forgetting about Natural Cure. Again.

Even with the drop from CC, I’m not really thinking that his Zam can do much to my Gallade here, so, more pounding.

Alakazam used Trick.
Alakazam obtained Leftovers!
Gallade obtained Choice Specs!
Gallade used Ice Punch.
Alakazam lost 52% of its health.

Ambipom lost 223% of its health.
Notty's Ambipom fainted.
---

3-4

Oh c’mon! He hangs on with like, 2%, and crits me for a twice as much health as Ambi actually has? Bah! Well, I’ve got something for him, oh, yes I do!

Notty switched in Azumarill.
Azumarill was hurt by Spikes!

Azumarill used Aqua Jet.
Tauros lost 50% of its health.
§ømething's Tauros fainted.
---

3-3
Who says Azumarill is slow? Certainly not me. ^_^ Choice Bands and STAB priority moves are wonderful things.

Meanwhile, my opponent is rejoicing in the fact that his Shaymin utterly butchers a good 1/3 of my team.

§ømething switched in Shaymin.
§ømething: cool
§ømething: two grass weaks

2-3

Yeah, Swampy got wasted to save Azumarill. And at this point, I’m thinking it’s just about over, but… I’ve got one trick left!

Notty switched in Dragonite.
Pointed stones dug into Dragonite.
Dragonite lost 25% of its health.
§ømething switched in Blastoise.
Dragonite used Dragon Dance.
Dragonite's attack was raised.
Dragonite's speed was raised.

Shitshitshit…I know I can survive one Ice Beam, thanks to Dragonite’s Yache Berry, but will Outrage be able to pull it off after just two Dragon Dances? Looks like we’re about to find out!

Dragonite used Dragon Dance.
Dragonite's attack was raised.
Dragonite's speed was raised.
Blastoise used Counter.
But it failed!

Seriously? Counter? Guess he was expecting me to go straight on the attack.

Well, now that everyone else is down, Dragonite is unphazeable, but I’m hardly out of the woods. I’m still down by two. Best to keep up the dances, and hope for the best.

Notty switched in Dragonite.
Pointed stones dug into Dragonite.
Dragonite lost 25% of its health.

If he couldn’t out damage Roost, I might still have a shot at this…

Dragonite used Outrage.
Dragonite went on a rampage!
Shaymin lost 132% of its health.
§ømething's Shaymin fainted.
---

1-1

Tied it up. And I know what’s coming now.

It’s gonna be Outrage vs Counter, because if he had Ice Beam, he’d have brought Blastoise in earlier and not wasted Shaymin and Jirachi…

Once again, he jumps the gun in assuming that he’s won.

§ømething switched in Blastoise.
§ømething: too early
Dragonite used Outrage.

And that’s that.

Props:
Dragonite, for being such a *badass*. Who says you’re outclassed by Garchomp and Salamence?
CBcross for showing *exactly* why Scarfcross isn’t always the best option.
My opponent for using Shaymin, because, let’s be honest.

Who the *hell* uses Shaymin?!

Slops:
Me. I played *really* crappy the whole match.

Props:
No Blissey!
Azumarrill!
Tauros!
Trickzam!
Blastoise!

Sure, three of those were on your opponent's team, but still, variety is the spice of life.

Hmm, good battle. I enjoy really close battles. Also, shaymin used aromatherapy so natural cure wasn't the cause of the removal of it's burn.

Very nice warstory. Alot less standard pkmn,Even pkmn you don't even expect to see in a battle. Shaymin, has shown to be able to battle and I like it to see Dragonite for once instead of those other wretched dragons...

Nice Dragonite use and great warstory. Made some mistakes, but don't we all?

Also props for helping §ømething put his foot in his mouth, nothing against him (sure he's a great guy), but I hate early gg'ers. -_-

Close battle. I personally don't like counter on Blastoise because physical stat uppers will just do the obvious. The rest of his team is solid though.

Close battle, §ømething might have chosen to max out the defense on his Blastoise now and might also hope that Mekkah doesn't ban him from Smogon. Of course, I'm certainly not §ømething.

Nice to see a battle using a nice variety of Pokemon rather than the usual pool of OUs.

As for Counter Blastoise, you can also pack Focus Punch to hit them with once you've lured them into boosting, pity almost everything that would CM/DD resists FP.

For the record, a Timid CSpecs Alakazam would do 90-100% on the standard 236 HP Gallade after a Close Combat drop.

Awesome, except for the fact that Dragonite could have taken a ton of Seed Flares with it's quad-resist and Roost. And who says Roost is a bad choice on a Dragon Dancer? (I thought you were gone until Roost).

Props for an awesome game with some slightly underused Pokemon.

Job well done, imo. I liked the not-so run-of-the-mill teams. I'll never be using Shaymin myself though, seeing as it is something that I will never get. Same goes with Manaphy, Darkrai, etc etc... Good to see what it looked like though, LMFAO!

EDIT: Glad a fellow Kingdom Hearts fan won, too. *shameless plug* I have -some- KH3 info if anybody wants it, so PM me if ya do.

Overall, good.

You sacrificed some people there that i would'nt have, but you played it through and held on like a champ, just to let draggy score, and beat that pompous prick.

Good job.

Great comeback at the end there! I wish more people would try using some on the other pokes not called Blissey on their team.

Great job

A very fun and enjoyable read. The battle seemed almost over until you pulled that Roost on the little chia pet. Also, good call on DDing again on the turn his Blastoise countered. I really enjoyed reading this warstory.

All hail the original dragon. :p

I think your opponent was annoying too. xD

Great battle though. I think this is the first story I've read with Azumarill. Seeing Shaymin was interesting too.

awesome battle, and cool you used Azumarill!!! it's one of my fav pokes.

just one thing... isn't Aqua Jet and Superpower illegal on Azumarill?

Wow, wasn't expecting a lot of replies. Thanks, everyone.

Okay, addressing a few things that caught my eye.

Great Sage: Yeah, but as you can tell from my team, I don't have much in the way of things that quote unquote wall, so I was bit more generous with my Gallade's HP and S.Def EVs. I was reasonably certain that Zam wouldn't be able to kill him.

On the subject of Roost on DDNite: I don't get much call to use it, simply because generally, once Dragonite comes out, so does the person's Ice Beamer/Avalancher/Ice Puncher, and it's generally in my best interests to cram as many Dragon Dances in as my Yache Berry will allow.

In this case, though, it *reeeeallly* saved my bacon.

Pepiux: Y'know, it's not impossible, but I was under the impression that Shoddy Battle would catch illegal Pokemon. ;;>.>

It if didn't/doesn't, then I'll need to fix that. The only illegal combination I was aware of is Belly Drum/Aqua Jet.

Aye, uber props for the Roosting. Dragonite is nice and bulky.
*puts roostdance-nite on my list of things to steal >_>*

I enjoyed this Warstory. *thumbs up*
