Ah, Shedinja. Resists almost all attacking types, yet is destroyed by Combee, Hippopotas, and Snover. Great attack, and yet a single hit point. Let's go over this guy's options, shall we?

Night Slash
*Bug Bite
Natural Gift
*X-Scissor
*Shadow Claw
Aerial Ace
Dig
Return
Shadow Sneak

Double Edge

Special movepool (No);
*Shadow Ball
Hidden Power
Giga Drain
Dream Eater
*Bug Buzz

Support movepool;
Endure

Sunny Day (to counter Sandstorm/Hail?)
Toxic
Mind Reader
Grudge
Heal Block
Swords Dance (Must evolve Nincada on lv. 25)

Confuse Ray

Shedinja @Muscle Band/Focus Sash
Brave (+Atk -Spd)
EVs; 252 Atk
Shadow Claw
X-Scissor

Get a Trick Room into play, and once Sheddy's out, let the sweepage begin!

Shedinja @Focus Sash
Hasty (+Spd -Def)
EVs; 252 Spd
Baton Pass
Mind Reader
Harden
X-Scissor/Double Team

Since one can get Baton Pass on a Shedinja, I just HAD to mention this.

Shedinja @Black Sludge/Toxic Orb/Flame Orb
Bold (+Def -Atk)
EVs; 252 HP, 100 Def, 100 Sp.Def, 52 Spd
Double Edge
Sandstorm
Rest
Substitute

Admit it, you would've put this set, too.

Focus Sash?

How does Focus Sash work on Shedinja? After it's hit, it survives. Wait, does Focus Sash go away after one use?

Shedinja is extremely underrated. It walls quite a lot of Pokemon in the game, though Tyranitar pretty much shoots it dead. Putting him on a weather team wouldn't be a bad idea.

List of Pokemon it walls:
Electivire
Starmie
Suicune
Blissey (without Toxic or lol Flamethrower)
Gyarados (without Stone Edge, as in DD/Taunt/Earthquake/Waterfall)
Celebi (without Leech Seed/HP Fire)
Porygon-Z (Nasty Plot/Boltbeam/Tri Attack variety)
Heracross (without Night Slash or Stone Edge, or locked by Choice item)
Specsmence (locked into Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse/Hydro Pump)
Garchomp (without Fire Fang or Stone Edge or locked by Choice Item/Outrage)
Raikou
Jolteon (non-Shadow Ball)
Slowbro (non-Flamethrower)
Snorlax (Curse/Earthquake/Return/Rest variety)
Metagross (locked by CB or without Pursuit)
Dragonite (locked into Outrage or without Fire Punch/Fire Blast)
Roserade (non-Leech Seed)
Swampert
Breloom (Spore/Thunderpunch/Focus Punch/Substitute)
Tangrowth (no HP Fire)
Milotic (no Toxic)
A lot of Ubers

Some of these rely on a specific moveset, and thus can be situational, but a decent few are viable. Passing a sub to Shedinja will help him completly wall Blissey and other statusers. Choice Band is an excellent option for Shedinja because chances are, it'll have to switch after one attack.

I'd use this set personally:
Shedinja @ Focus Sash
X-Scissor
Shadow Claw
Baton Pass/Swords Dance
Will-O-Wisp/Protect/Grudge/Sunny Day

Swords Dance is dependant on someone passing Shedinja a sub, else you ought to just attack. Baton Pass is for scouting switches, which is almost a given when Shedinja comes out. The last slot is a bit of a filler. Protect for checking movesets, Grudge only if you have sub support, and Wisp for things like Metagross or Aerodactyl. Sunny Day on the switch if you really fear Tyranitar, who is actually 2HKOed by X-Scissor.

If I may throw in my 2 cents:

Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 252 ATK / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Shadow Claw / Shadow Sneak
- X-Scissor
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Protect is basically there to scout for a SE attack.
If one exists, switch out of there.

As it turns out, much like Eo Ut Mortus's variant, but with a definite moveset rather than the Slashes.

I thought that only Ninjask learned Baton Pass. Shedinja can't learn it. So some of those sets with Baton Pass can be done. Unless im missing something completly obvious, Shedinja cant learn BP.

I said this in advanced and I'll say it again. The only Sheddy set I will use is the CB one. I just feel it doesn't have any other option but to hit and run.

I'm very annoyed that Sheddy learns neither U-turn nor Pursuit though...

Just have an extra slot in your party and evolve Nincada on the level where it would learn Baton Pass as a Ninjask. The Shedinja will have the exact same moveset as the Ninjask does after it's evolved, so that's how it gets Baton Pass. I'm pretty sure you can also just use the move relearner.

As someone who's used Shedinja somewhat extensively in Wifi battles here, I will say that Shedinja is extremely techy. Putting a Focus Sash on him is a given, and he's great to throw into things like Milotic and Starmie, who can't hit him with any attacks they have.

Shedinja's worst enemy is Stealth Rock, however. Weather effects he can get around pretty easily (I used mine with Sunny Day), but Stealth Rock won't let Focus Sash work, and can result in your team being effectively only 5 Pokes. That doesn't mean he can't do well with a Rapid Spinner, though.

Just some opinions from someone who's used him quite a bit.

I guess this thing likes Rain, as it reduces the popularity of Fire attacks... Trick Room comes to mind as well.

BTW, Shedinja @ Shed Shell, anyone? :D

Maestro, it was just a joke.... Considering he already is a shed shell you know.

Why are there sooooo few usable Rapid Spinners?

Shedinja @ Focus Scarf
Shadow Ball / Bug Buzz
Confuse Ray
Toxic
Protect

With luck this set can kill even enemies who have fire moves...

#1 Use up Focus Scarf then Confuse Ray
#2 Hope for luck and then Toxic
#3 Protect
#4 Protect (has a 50% chance of working)
#5 Shadow Ball and they're dead

edit: this works even better under Trick Room

That set is flawed. Shedinja has WAY more weaknesses than fire- he has ghost, dark, and flying. Well, it's not exactly WAY more, but you get the idea.
If you DO survive with Focus Sash, than why not use Toxic immediately, THAN protect? Also, they're not dead with shadow ball- Toxic is like, 3/16 after two turns, so you're not doing that much with special ghost moves.

It does. But it starts at 1/16, so for two turns, you won't be doing much. It goes like this-
1 Turn: 1/16
2 turns:1/8
3 Turns: 3/16.
At least, that's how I think it goes, and I'm too lazy to ask in the "Ask a simple question" thread.

Isn't it a shell of Nincada, not Ninjask?

Anyway, I've never tried Shedinja before, although Focus Sash does seem to be its friend. Unfortunately Spikes and Stealth Rock still ruin it, as does Sandstream. I could see it leading though. Drawing in fire/rock moves from Salamence or Garchomp and making them easier to predict, or even destroying Weavile leads with X-Scissor.

The thing that killed Shedinja this generation was Stealth Rock and the growing use of Tyranitar. Focus Sash was pretty cool though.

You talk as if Shedinja wasn't killed in the previous generation...

and also, 90 base attack isn't "great." It's more on the lines of "mediocre."
