Pecharunt is a defensive unit, capable of taking on a variety of physical attackers like Zamazenta, Urshifu-R, Regeleki, and Dragonite, due to it's naturally high defense stat further boosted by the choice of mega stone. Pecharunt can then use these free turns to spread poison using Malignant Chain, wearing down defensive Pokemon like Arceus-Ground and Ho-Oh for other teams to take advantage of. Hex is more preferably used on pivot sets which focus more on spreading status, allowing Pecharunt to more effectively use the boosted damage, while Shadow Ball is used more on Nasty Plot sets for the more consistent damage output. Parting Shot allows Pecharunt to play a more supporting role, bringing in frailer teammates on Pokemon that would otherwise beat Pecharunt, such as Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk and Kingambit. Nasty Plot, however, abuses Pecharunt's impeccable bulk to threaten a sweep, easily getting such opportunities on the many physical attackers it checks reliably, such as Hisuian Arcanine and Entei. Latiasite voids Pecharunt's ground immunity, allowing it to check Pokemon like non-Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk and Arceus-Ground that it would otherwise run from, while Sablenite trades that for more upgrades in it's defenses, as well as being able to block away hazards from Pokemon like Garganacl and Magearna. Pecharunt fits on a variety of bulky offense and balance teams, as these teams often carry Pokemon such as Raging Bolt, Hisuian Samurott, and Urshifu-R, who very much appreciate not having to come in on an attack. These Pokemon are also weak to Pixilate Extreme Speed users such as Regieleki and Hisuian Arcanine, which Pecharunt completely shuts down, allowing them to break down the opposing team, especially in conjuctuon with the poisonfrom Malignant Chain. Urshifu-R in particular, as well as Zamazenta, can also break down Dark-types such as Kingambit and Hisuian Samurott, Pokemon that Pecharunt strugges with checking. Magearna is an almost perfect partner to Pecharunt, as with Magearna's ability to check special attackers, they can check most Pokemon in the game. An exception to this though, is Pokemon that can hit both Pecharunt and Magearna super-effectively, like Delphox and Iron Moth, or Pokemon immune to Levitate, such as Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk. Teammates like Arceus-Water, Urshifu-R, and Arceus-Ground, however, can deal with these Pokemon for Pecharunt.
