Shiny Charm and Masuda Method

Give yourself some time. Maybe get a couple of other shinies before getting back to it.
Think I'm gonna go for Honedge.

My luck has turned! 2 Shinies in 1 day! After only 23 eggs I hatched a shiny Honedge. OH BABY!!!!

Total eggs: 1320
163: Shiny Torchic
322: Shiny Treecko
1282: Shiny Electrike
1312: Shiny Honedge

Congrats PorygonX94!!!
Amazingly enough I seem to share your good luck too today! Two shiny in 1 day here as well…

New totals listed below:
Rotom - 812 eggs, 2 shiny
Amaura - 48 eggs, 1 shiny
Tyrunt - 306 eggs, 1 shiny
Carbink - 390 eggs, 1 shiny
Honedge - 365 eggs, 1 shiny
Tepig - 285 eggs, 1 shiny
Snivy - 337 eggs, 1 shiny
Cryogonal - 174 eggs, 1 shiny
Next target: Phione -- in progress

2717 eggs total, 9 shiny total

Hi folks. I've sort of lost count of my eggs hatched / shinies rate, so I'll leave my figures as they are as to not disrupt the results we've collected so far.

Also, quick question - how are people getting the regular and shiny sprites for their sigs?

Cheers!

500/1000 Eggs so far, decided to switch to Caterpie instead.

So far only one shiny

Shiny Noibat - 460

Hey, PorygonX94 and MagusDiablo, how are you able to put shiny pokemon on each post like that? I'd like to do it as well.

Hi, I'd like to help! I've already got a shiny charm, so I guess all I have to do is pledge to hatch some pokemon?

I like to hatch in batches (5 pokemon per batch), so...I'll pledge to hatch 10 batches, for a total of 50 pokemon. Is that ok?

Gotta be honest with you: this kind of pledge is useless. Pledge something like AT LEAST 500 eggs (because, after all, the rates are 1:512)... But, you're the boss on this one.

Since I'm new to dedicated shiny breeding, I didn't want to bite off more than I can chew to start with. I'm at the half-way point now (5 batches, 25 eggs hatched), and no shiny. I'll edit this post before I go to bed with information on the last 5 batches.

Just in case you guys were interested, I'm trying for a shiny fletchling. The first parent is a flawless 6 IV gale wings talonflame (very proud of her, since I bred her myself), and the second parent is a flawless 6 IV Japanese ditto.

My personal tip: gather 5 eggs, send them to the Box and repeat the process until you've gotten 150. Each box usually consumes 20 minutes, and the hatching part can be helped if you walked 4 thousand steps with your 3DS on the day of the process. If it's a regular egg, it takes like 20 minutes per box. It's not that complicated, and it helps you if you're watching something. At least that's what I do when I'm breeding ^^

Hmm, I might try this strategy next time. Though, do you have problems reloading your hatching o-power that way? Usually by the time I'm finished collecting for the next batch I've got enough back to use another hatching o-power.

Anywhoo, just finished out the second half of my pledge, and again, no shiny (not surprised). I actually decided to just finish out the 2nd box, so I actually hatched 60 eggs total. That'll be all I post for today. I'll probably try again sometime this weekend.

Question, do the pokemon used for Masuda method both need to be Kalos native? I have a perfect 6 IV Japanese Ditto from Gen 5 and may be able to help with this if pokebank pokemon work.

Well I feel a lot slower than most people in the thread, but who needs speed when you have luck! Shiny Honedge on egg #180! Going for a shiny Ralts now and I will report back when I complete this batch of 100.

Edit: Done 200, I'll pledge another 200.

After literally Weeks of Trying I finally got a Shiny Beldum. Incredibly! it was 5IV Flawless!!!! Now I have about 70 or so perfect ones lying around.

In the end it took me 600 eggs.

The best (perhaps worst?) part was that the 2nd battle after the Shiny I found a shiny Noibat with infiltrator and a special spread of 31/31/28!!

Going to take a quick break to keep my sanity

My perfect ditto is from gen 5 too. I'm breeding for fletchling, which is why my other parent had to be from gen 6. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you can breed 2 pokes from previous generations with no problems and still masuda method.

I was able to play a bit this morning, so I've started collecting eggs for my next attempt at shiny fletchling. So, I'll pledge another 60, probably to be done before the end of today. :)

So are you saying that MM won't work if, for example, you used a Gen 5 foreign Ditto and a Gen 6 Froakie?

Sorry, no, I was saying that fletchling is only available in gen 6, which is the only reason I'm using a gen 6 parent (well, that, and because I was able to get a flawless one to breed with). Pokemon from any gen can be used for MM breeding, but I found it was easier, at least historically, to get flawless pokemon pre-gen 6, which'll give you a greater chance of getting a better shiny. If you've got a really high quality pokemon from gen 6, though, or if you don't care about the nature/ability/IVs of the shiny you're trying for, then by all means use any pokemon you want as a parent! :)

EDIT: Just finished a batch of hatching: 150 eggs hatched in this session (thanks for the tip, magusdiablo, it really was faster to hatch that way), but still no shiny. :( Might try again later today after I take a break.

So, that puts my current total at 210 eggs hatched overall, and 0 shinies. Since this is obviously higher than my previous pledge, at this point I feel comfortable pledging to hatch 500 eggs for the statistics. :)

Update:

Why is gligar flying/ground? How does that even make sense? And how come he's not poison? He's a fucking scorpion ffs.

Total: 1800
Shinies: 0

Update: My egg total is up to 450 now, and I got a shiny Shinx at egg 389. IVs and ability weren't at all ideal so I'm gonna keep going, will keep updating until I get another that's hopefully a good one. xD

I was able to make another big push towards getting my shiny fletchling, but to no avail: hatched another 150 eggs, but no shiny. :( It's out there, I can feel it!!! I might be able to make another big push tomorrow, but I dunno. I also want to practice for the think fast competition that'll be coming up soon.

Total: 360/500 Eggs
Shinies: 0 -_-

Also, I just want to confirm that a contributor like me is NOT expected to try and edit the spreadsheet, correct? Because it's kinda intimidating. ._.

I finally obtained the Shiny Charm last week and have been hatching eggs pretty much ever since. I wasn't aware of this thread before, but I recorded how long each hunt took before I got my shiny, so hopefully this is accepted.

Shiny Vulpix in 254 eggs.
Shing Eevee in 195 eggs.
Shiny Froakie in 81 eggs.
Shiny Froakie in 472 eggs.
Shiny Froakie in 1180 eggs.

The reason I kept going with Froakie is because I wanted one with Protean, and got unlucky with the first two. I hatched that third one about half an hour ago. :)

Total Eggs = 2182
Total Shinies = 5 (Rate of 1 in 436.4)
