Introduction
I'm fairly new to competitive battling as I started playing it in Pokemon Y, after having played most of the previous games on my pc. I've played with some teams I've found in this forum and creating some teams my own, but my own team don't work out most of the time and I just can't play a long time with teams not created by myself. So I decided to build a team my own with my favourite Pokemon Omastar, as playing with Pokemon you like makes losing a lot easier.

The Team

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk / 252 SAtk / 192 Spd
Naive Nature
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Infernape is my lead most of the time. I usually start with Fake Out and after that I'll use Stealth Rock followed by an attacking move, altough he mostly get KO'd after he has used Stealth Rock. I choose him as I needed someone who could resist grass, because I started my team with Omastar.

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Thunder Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Bullet Punch

Medicham is a real attacking beast thanks to his base attacking stat and Pure Power ability. I put ThunderPunch on him after my team got totally destroyed by Mega-Gyarados. Bullet Punch is there to finish an opponent and High Jump Kick wrecks things thanks to the 130 power and STAB bonus. Psycho Cut is there for the STAB bonus aswell. The biggest problem with Medicham is that he gets killed very fast, but I don't know who I should replace him with.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Volt Switch
Forretress has been very useful for my team thanks to his Toxic Spikes and Rapid Spin. Bad thing is that his only attack is Volt Switch, which doesn't do much damage and can't hit twice in a row. Replacement are welcome, but I couldn't came up with one as it would probably mean that I have to change a lot of other things aswell and I'm not that experienced in creating a team.

113.gif
Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Ice Beam
- Dazzling Gleam

Chansey is a very good defensive wall, thanks to her great base special defending stat and Eviolite. Her ability makes sure he doesn't get stalled by status. Wish and protect make sure she and her teammates can get a heal boost once it is needed. I am not very sure about her attacking moves though, I choose for Dazzling Gleam as my team lacked any fairy move and Ice Beam was kind of a random pick.

Omastar @ White Herb
Ability: Weak Armor
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Shell Smash
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Omastar can kill almost any kind of Pokemon, once he is set up correctly. Start with a Shell Smash to power up your attack, special attack and speed. Then get hit by a physical attack to activate Weak Armor or let the opponent do a swords dance or whatever he likes to, following by another Shell Smash if it is possibly and otherwise you can unleash the beast by picking one of the 3 attacking moves. Downside of this star is that he is very funerable to grass and his defense overall is just fairly weak, so if he'll probably be useless if the opponent can attack first.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 16 Spd / 248 Def / 244 HP
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- U-turn
- Roost
Gliscor just hasn't worked out for me, so I'd appreciate it when someone comes up with a replacement.

Conclusion
All in all, I think my team does need some improvements. As stated in the beginning, I am only a beginner in making teams so any help is welcome.

That's a pretty solid team you've got there! As for replacing Gliscor, I would probably go with Reuniclus. It has great bulk, and with magic guard it acts as a great counter for stallers, and can take status effects for your other team members. Also, it doesn't seem to add any signifcant weaknesses to the team, so it should fit in quite well! FYI, this is a nifty little tool for checking out your team's weaknesses and resistances

Just basic things that are must-fixes before the big picture issues of the team are addressed:

Use the standard Wish set for Chansey.

Chansey @ Eviolite
Natural Cure | Bold
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
-Wish / Softboiled
-Protect / Aromatherapy
-Toxic
-Seismic Toss

Get rid of the set you have now. Chansey isn't a pokemon that has a lot of room for originality, and this set is effective even though everybody knows what the set is.

Another really obvious thing that can be fixed is your perception that every pokemon has to deal great damage with attacks to be useful. Pokemon like Forretress, Chansey, and Gliscor are meant to fill supporting and/or stalling roles. Using volt switch on forretress isn't supposed to decimate switch-ins, it's to create or maintain momentum in the battle. You need to get this straight in your head before you jump into competitive.

Thirdly, don't build your team around omastar. It's outclassed by so many pokemon as a sweeper--Carracosta, even, is arguably more effective. A water-type sweeper to try is Gyarados.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Intimidate / Moxie | Jolly
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Waterfall
-Ice Fang / Stone Edge
-Earthquake / Substitute
-Dragon Dance

!!! But if you're willing to deviate from water-types, and assuming you replace gliscor, a better sweeper on your team would be Dragonite:

Dragonite @ Lum Berry / Weakness Policy / Leftovers
Multiscale | Jolly
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw / Outrage
-Earthquake / Fire Punch / Roost
-Extreme Speed

To complement Dragonite, a good replacement for Gliscor is Avalugg:

Avalugg @ Leftovers
Sturdy | Impish
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
-Rapid Spin
-Avalanche
-Recover
-Stone Edge / Roar

While avalugg is an under-appreciated pokemon, it has utility to your team because it gives you a resilient defensive rapid spinner and allows you to replace forretress. Your team is also completely destroyed by Landorus-T and Talonflame which are, among others, dealt with by Avalanche and Stone Edge.

Now you have an open slot that was previously occupied by forretress, but since your Infernape packs SR, you shouldn't even need hazards in that spot. What you really need here is a bulky special attacker who can check Aegislash, and I'd recommend you look no further than Rotom-Wash:

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers / Chesto Berry
Levitate | Bold / Calm
(pick a spread based on the nature you choose)
-Will-O-Wisp
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Hidden Power [Ice] / Thunderbolt / Hidden Power [Grass] / Rest

After these changes, although drastic, are made, the team looks well on its way. There will be room for tweaking as your play style evolves. To recap:

Hyper-offense mindset ---> Rational Mindset

Alien Chansey ---> Perfect Chansey

Omastar ---> Dragonite
Gliscor ---> Avalugg
Forretress ---> Rotom-Wash

Good luck with the team and competitive battling going forward.

Hey there!
I generally like the team you've built there, I hope I can help improve it.

Medicham- If you're having problems with Medicham's bulk you may want to try Drain Punch. I would put it over Thunderpunch. I'm kind of confused about how Thunderpunch helps with Mega Gyarados specifically, because High Jump Kick should be doing more damage after it's Mega Evolved. I suppose it could help before it Mega-Evolves. You could also cover Gyarados elsewhere.

Forretress- I don't think that Forretress is doing enough for your team right now. It doesn't seem able to do anything other than manipulate hazards and leave, making it certain deadweight in certain matches, particularly with defog all over the place. I think that it could definitely use an attacking move (other than volt switch) on there. Maybe Gyro Ball? I would put it over Volt Switch or one of the hazards. This would help it do something when hazards are already up. If you give it Gyro Ball you will probably want to give it 0 IVs in speed.

Chansey-
The double-attacking Chansey is kind of weird. If you're planning on getting rid of Gliscor I think Heal Bell would prove better. Chansey's low attacking stats just aren't going to do much no matter what attack you use. I would suggest using ice beam or flamethrower on Chansey to help with grass types that Omastar hates so much.

Omastar- I like it. Good coverage. Hidden Power Grass for Quagsire, which has to be my least favorite pokemon to face without a grass pokemon on my team.

Gliscor- I'm sorry Gliscor hasn't been working out so well for you. I personally love it but whatever. :pirate: I notice that your team does not have a revenge killer beyond Infernape (probably dead early on) and Medicham's Bullet Punch (Rotom-W says hi). I'm thinking that Scarfkiss or another fast flying type would be great here. It would help with the hated grass types, Fighting types that hurt a large portion of your team, as well as having fantastic neutral coverage. Scarfkiss is even more beautiful for the 60% chance of flinching the opponent, providing you outspeed them.

I hope this was helpful! Good luck with your team.

Alpha Thing

P.S. This is only my second rate. Yay! Don't judge me too harshly :toast:
