Shoddy Battle, a new D/P simulator

More items seem to be available now:choice specs, life orb,CS,expert belt,...
Oh and to Colin:I've found one big, glaring bug:life orb restores HP...

EDIT:I also share the thoughts of the person below me.(to lazy to write it up)

In my opinion this an awsome work dude!!!
I apreciate a lot your work, at least I can test my teams even if there some missing things but it's still great.
Thx dude!

Ugh, lack of Protect/Outrage/Stealth Rock/Choice Scarf kinda screws up my team...

Better than nothing, I guess.

Everytime I try to log in, it says 'You are already logged into this network' and I need to get a new usename everytime. How do I stop this

EDIT: iT WORKS SOMETIMES

I got that same error, and when I logged in with a different name, I saw that my original account was still in the room, even though I said exit server.

...I don't get it.

Re life orb: I fixed it.

If you're having trouble getting on, my computer/network may be at its effective limit (around 25). (I don't have a dedicated server computer.) You can see a list of who is on in this file to gauge if this is the case.

If you notice any other bugs, feel free to post them on bug tracker.

Having looked at the code, I'm of the opinion that the designers are going to find it massively difficult to implement some moves, and will have to create a massive number of 'exception' cases to the general rules of how moves normally operate, because they don't have a system of hooks in place. Traits and items will also cause difficulties for that reason, I'd bet. Just my thoughts.

Thank you for taking the time to review the design. I don't think the number of exceptions will be quite as "massive" as you suggest, but I agree that there will need to be some with the current design. At this point architectural changes are still somewhat possible (it's not a stable release, after all). To a large degree I have attempted to favour simplicity of (programmatic) interface and I think it has been mostly successful.

[Edit: Note that we do have some hooks, or as I call them, "listeners": the damage listener, the status effect listener, and the move transformer, as well as some others, like switching in/out and ones I haven't mentioned. Together these allow for the implementation of many things, which is why I don't think the number of exceptions will be massive.]

Tried it yesterday, beat SePh 1-0 with my most random team ever.

Sandstream is horribly bugged in that game.

Not exactly the worst/best program, but it isn't anywhere near as organized/easy to use as NetBattle

I'm using it right now to test what would go well on my team when I get my DS back this Saturday...although I won't get a completely accurate result, it does help pass the time....although lack of Wish and Outrage bothers me

Lack of Protect makes my Yanmega cry. No SToss means I have to use CMBliss, no roost means I have to use sdgliscor. =(

no sub means i have to use sleeptalk kou

I dont mind playing on it, waiting for our own simulator.

Assuming they get a few of their moves/traits/unfinished issues before competitor is released.

It's great to finally have something to play D/P, bugs are pest tough; I've lost only a single battle because a Miltank (6 Curse) didn't get OHKO'd by a critical hitting Stone Edge from my Rhyperior (3 Swords Dance)... it seems that chs do not ignore defense boosts. >_>

>_> That was because of a bug that allowed your heracross to live and not allowing me to switch to something I would like to because the system read it as 2 pokemon being out at the same time.

Anyway, I feel I'll enjoy it a lot more once all of the bugs and things that randomly cause you to lose games when you shouldn't have been sorted out. But it still is amusing.

Are you not suppose to see your own messages? I can't see mine. Actually, I doubt they're even showing up since I don't see replies to them either.

What would be a "system of hooks"?

I have not been able to engage in a battle on Shoddy. It begins to freeze my system right after I click "accept" or "challenge" in the battle window. Is there something wrong? I run Windows Xp.

I'm surprised by how few people use Cresselia or Heatran on there...so far I've only encountered one Heatran and no Cresselias(other than mine, that is)

I love Heatran, but I bet x4 Ground, and the fighting and water weaknesses turn a few people off, despite his great aspects. I haven't seen him on RMT's much either.
