Should RMT's be put on a hiatus?

Its quite obvious that platnium will make lots of changes to the metagame, so im wondering whats the point of making rmts for a diamond and pearl metagame? Like now scizor is actuallly a major threat so most teams will need some sort of counter to him and the obvious accuraccy drop on hypnosys can drop the effectiveness of a gengar lead which is one of the most common leads. Im just wondering your thoughts on this, because I can see alot of people getting frustrated over spending 40 hours makin a perfect team only to find it obsolete in the platnium metagame. Its one of the reasons im refraining from making a competetive team right now

I don't think any team is "obsolete" because Scizor got itself a new toy. And no one (I hope) is spending 40 hrs. on a team.

But if you are that competitive, you should be informed already of Platinum's changes.

This is why the people who rate teams are familiar with the recent platinum changes, and know how to twitch a regular DP Team to accomodate with Platinum changes. Besides, none of the teams in the RMT forum are perfect. Close maybe, but not perfect. And why would you spend 40 hours making one team, and THEN get it rated? You're best off getting help sooner, to help fix problems as soon as you can (after playtesting of course). Also, many of my regular DP teams function just fine in the platinum metagame.

It's really tough to make an accurate rate when the metagame all of a sudden is adapting to extremely potent threats, and has to "figure itself out". stall is getting more established since at the beginning it was pretty much nonstop offensive teams.

I wouldn't say put stuff on haitus at all since interesting ideas emerge every day with rmts to help the metagame evolve

adapting a pt team to diamond is kind of pointless... I'd really recommend scrapping dp strats minus basic stuff like suicide leads.. but for example in PT toxic spikes are.. pretty useless heh..

I don't really understant your point...it seems pretty unlikely that someone who spends 40 hours making and testing and refining a team would still be unfamiliar with the very metagame they had tested in.

You yourself are smart enough to realize that having a reliable counter to Scizor just might be a good idea, so what makes you think that players who post RMT's cannot come to that realization as well?

No but analysis' should be held off in my opinion...ecspecially without well defined lower tiers. Guess you have to make it look like your doing something though.

In theory, Pt changes are huge, hundreds of new move combinations and all, but in practice only a dozen or so new move additions really make a difference in OU. Carry a Scizor counter (not difficult considering most Lucario counters also handle Scizor), account for outragemence, make sure you've got something to handle Skymin, carry some sort of status to handle the still uncommon yet immensely more threatening Kingdra, be sure to have a way to kill/negate rotom forms and you're essentially golden. Yes, there was notable change but not the change that was seen after FR/LG/Emerald came out.

Funnily enough just having a Scarftran handles the majority of the significant OU changes. x4 grass resist for getting in on Skymin, steel/bug resists for Scizor, Dragon resist once Mence is locked in Outrage, ect. There is no reason to halt RMTs
