With a great defensive typing, an amazing ability, good Speed, and decent bulk, Sigilyph is one of most menacing sweepers in the RU tier. Sigilyph also finds many opportunities to set up throughout a match against Pokemon such as Steelix, Bronzong, and Klefki. A good Speed tier also lets Sigilyph outpace the likes of Goodra, Choice Specs Gardevoir, and Silvally-Fairy. Despite being very hard to stop once it gets going, Sigilyph is still vulnerable to faster Pokemon such as Barraskewda, Lycanroc, and Inteleon. Psycho Shift in conjunction with Flame Orb allows Sigilyph to beat physical attackers such as Copperajah and Rhyperior and cripple bulkier Pokemon like Gigalith, Galarian Slowbro, and Seismitoad. Air Slash is chosen over Stored Power to hit Dark-types and generally be more consistent.

Choice Scarf users such as Drapion and Passimian can easily force Sigilyph out. Pokemon like Gastrodon and Silvally-Fairy are useful to have to check these Pokemon, respectively. Passimian can also bring in Sigilyph for setup opportunities against Pokemon like Galarian Slowbro. Wallbreakers such as Bewear, Inteleon, and Copperajah can break through Pokemon like Rhyperior, Coalossal, and Snorlax that Sigilyph struggles to break through. Bulky Water-types like Milotic, Seismitoad, and Mantine are able to check Barraskewda and Inteleon, both of which can easily threaten Sigilyph out. Milotic can also bring in Sigilyph via Flip Turn against Pokemon like Virizion and Bronzong. Other pivots such as Porygon2, Heliolisk, and Dragalge are appreciated to bring Sigilyph onto the field safely. The latter two can also take advantage of bulky Water-types that can annoy Sigilyph.

[SET COMMENTS]
Amazing coverage options, a good Speed tier, and a great ability make Sigilyph one of the most menacing wallbreakers in the RU tier. Very little can withstand its Life Orb-boosted hits, and when combined with a diverse movepool, Sigilyph is easily able to shred teams apart. Psyshock is chosen over Psychic on Calm Mind sets to beat opposing Calm Mind users such as Galarian Slowbro. Alternatively, Psychic does more to Pokemon like Rhyperior and Seismitoad. Air Slash is an option to hit Gardevoir, Scrafty, and opposing Sigilyph harder, but it loses out on Dragalge and does less to neutral targets. Heat Wave smacks Steel-types such as Copperajah, Steelix, and Escavalier. In case Sigilyph isn't needed as a wincon, Defog can be used to support its team by removing entry hazards against Pokemon like Steelix. Energy Ball is another option to OHKO Rhyperior and Seismitoad, do more damage to Gigalith, and threaten Water-types like Milotic and Vaporeon.

Faster Pokemon like Heliolisk, Inteleon, and Barraskewda can easily threaten Sigilyph out, even with Calm Mind boosts. Due to this, teammates that can handle these Pokemon are good to have. Seismitoad and Gastrodon can check the latter two, as well as Salazzle and Charizard, for Sigilyph. Pivots that can bring in Sigilyph such as Passimian are appreciated. Passimian can also check Pokemon that revenge kill Sigilyph like Heliolisk and Lycanroc. Klefki can provide Spikes support to wear down foes and help Sigilyph better break teams. Other forms of entry hazard support from the likes of Copperajah, Golisopod, and Dragalge can help wear down bulkier Pokemon that Sigilyph struggles to break past like Porygon2. Goodra can check the likes of Heliolisk and help Sigilyph wear down their mutual checks like Gigalith. Golurk can threaten out bulkier Pokemon like Bronzong that Sigilyph is annoyed by.

  • Mention Scrafty as an Air Slash target, much more relevant than stuff like Skorch rn (especially when Skorch takes like 90% from Psychic anyway)
  • Might be a nitpick but I think the point on EBall should be like:
    • "In case Sigilyph isn't needed as a Defogger, Energy Ball allows it to..." (basically because you usually will only run EBall if you can afford not to run Defog, and I like explaining that it's the case, it also sorta explains the slash order too)
    • Also, mention Giga as a target for EBall, it does like ~35% which isn't a lot but is much more efficient to chip it throughout the match than Psychic doing minus than 30%, also if your STAB is Air Slash you're doing
  • Up to you: mentioning Shadow Ball (or Dark Pulse) for the 3rd slot of LO: helps vs Psychic-types (specially if not running Air Slash), 3HKOing Heatproof Zong and KOing other Sigies after some chip. You also do around 50% to a +1 CM Bro, potentially beating it w drops. Dark Pulse trades 2HKOing Garde for 2HKOing Indeedee-F and drops for flinches but I think 2HKOing Garde is huge (you even fail to do so w Air Slash without hazards, it's like a 5% chance to 2HKO).
That's good, QC 1/2

(sounds more in the second para imo) Psycho Shift in conjunction with Flame Orb allows Sigilyph to beat physical attackers such as Copperajah and Rhyperior, and burns cripples bulkier Pokemon like Gigalith, Galarian Slowbro, and Seismitoad as burn cancels out their passive recovery from Black Sludge / Leftovers. (could probably be more concise, but is more apt of an explanation then just saying it burns...cuz it does that to every mon bar fires). Air Slash is chosen over Stored Power to hit Dark-types, as well as generally be more consistent.

Despite being very hard to stop once it gets going, Sigilyph is still vulnerable to faster Pokemon such as Barraskewda, Lycanroc, and Inteleon. Therefore, revenge Revenge killers like Passimian, Barraskewda can deal with faster Pokemon that force Sigilyph out. Amazing coverage options, a good Speed tier, and a great ability makes Sigilyph one of the most menacing wallbreakers in the RU tier. Very little can withstand its Life Orb boosted hits, and when combined with a colorful diverse movepool, Sigilyph is easily able to shred teams apart. Sigilyph's STAB move of choice is customizeable depending on the team. Air Slash is an option over Psychic to hit Gardevoir, Scrafty, and opposing Sigilyph harder, but it loses out on Dragalge and does less to neutral targets. Heat Wave smacks Steel-types such as Copperajah, Steelix, and Escavalier. If Calm Mind is used, Psyshock is an option over Psychic or Air Slash, beating opposing Calm Mind users such as Galarian Slowbro.

With a great defensive typing, an amazing ability, and decent bulk, Sigilyph is one of most menacing sweepers in the RU tier. [the high speed tier is relevant enough for intro, condense the typing & bulk points into one] Sigilyph also finds many opportunities to set up throughout a match against Pokemon such as Steelix, Bronzong, and Klefki. Revenge killers like Gardevoir, Passimian, and Golisopod can deal with faster Pokemon that force Sigilyph out [1) examples? 2) this seems weird because you don't switch the revenge killer into them, so this wouldnt happen unless u sack sigi, which you usually wouldnt do. instead, i'd recommend talking abt a few specific mons that force it out & suggesting teammates that switch into those mons]. Passimian can also bring in Sigilyph for set-up opportunities against Pokemon like Galarian Slowbro. Wallbreakers such as Bewear, Inteleon, and Copperajah can break through Pokemon like Rhyperior, Coalossal, and Snorlax that Sigilyph struggles to break through. [I think LO CM 2 Atks is the most threatening version of the LO set, and the new slashes reflect that. Feel free to PM me or discuss with rest of QC team if you disagree, but I really think this is the most accurate description of its role in the meta.

Once slash order is finalized, rearrange the first paragraph according to the new slash order.]

Faster physical Pokemon like Choice Scarf Drapion and Passimian can easily force Sigilyph out. [Mention that with CM you can often get bulky enough to stop special attackers like Scarf Garde from revenge killing]. Due to this, teammates who can handle these Pokemon are good to have. Seismitoad and Gastrodon can check the former, as well as Salazzle and Charizard, for Sigilyph. Pivots that can bring in Sigilyph such as Passimian are appreciated. QC 2/2. Note that there are sizable changes to the LO set so make sure you talk this over thoroughly with some other ppl, you don't 100% need to do what I have suggested but I think it is best. pls don't change the primary slashes on that set unless you're strongly opposed to the order in the check.
