Hi, all. I've come to pitch the basic outline of a column idea for the smog, which I’ve tentatively titled Similarities and Differences (although I am more than welcome to any suggestions for a catchier name).
I sincerely hope I’ve understood how to pitch this properly, as far as I could gather, article pitches want to be a synopsis of the proposed article, rather than the article itself. But there isn’t anything to compare it to at the moment, so I’ll just see how it goes. If there’s anything else you want if you take my idea into consideration, I am more than happy to provide.
The basic idea of Similarities and Differences would be to compare two related Pokémon, and compare how they relate, how they differ from each other and how that affects them competitively, ingame, and however else seems relevant, appropriate or humorous.
Due to the wide berth of idea’s this presents, I fully intend this to be a regular column if approved.
The first I would intend to write is Similarities and Differences: Skarmory & Mantine. And would cover such points as how the typings relate, and how the difference affects them. The stat shuffle. The movepool. And quite how this resulted in the vast competitive difference you see in them.
Various future columns I’m preparing for in the series include: The Hitmons, the Fire/Fight starters, Fortress & Ferrothorn. But as you can tell by the format, I have plenty of writing options open.
I have good knowledge of the last two gens OU scene, as well as VGC, and a large bank of pokemon ingame trivia behind for writing this article, and hope you consider my pitch carefully. As I’d love an excuse to start drafting this up.
