Simple, Yet Effective - RMT

This team that I built was designed for a simple, yet effective strategy. The strategy is to set up Reflect/Light Screen and stall out with Toxic, or sweep whenever I feel like. Also, I wanted most of my pokes to be able to switch into stealth rock without problem so I didn't need to waste a move for rapid spin. Without further ado, here is the team...

Bronzong @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 HP / 86 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD
Sassy Nature (+ SpD,- Spe)
- Hypnosis
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball

Bronzong is considered one of the best leads around for a reason. This is the standard set, but it works wonders. Pretty simple explanation; Bronzong uses Hypnosis, then Stealth Rock and either switches out or attacks.

Cresselia @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 20 HP / 252 Def / 236 SpA
Modest Nature (+ SpA,- Atk)
- Reflect
- Moonlight
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam

Cresselia is one of the most annoying pokemon to take down in the game. Reflect to take some of those Pursuits and Thunder Wave to cripple Infernape, Lucario, etc. Great for tanking physical attacks and just a great wall in general.

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EV's: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+ Atk,- SpA)
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance

With all the pokemon in the game having access to Trick, I needed a pokemon that can take a TrickScarf or TrickBand and utilize it in a good way. It also is one hell of a sweeper and can take those Crunches or Megahorns that are intended for Cresselia. Ice Punch for Gliscors (even though they don't threaten my team) and Dragons. Simple sweeper to use, but breaks open games.

Slowking @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EV's: 212 HP / 44 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature (+ SpD,- Atk)
- Surf
- Slack Off
- Light Screen
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Slowking is great for walling special attacks, and its typing allows it to wall most common special type attacks. If takes those fire attacks intended for Bronzong, and can set up a Light Screen for dual screen support. HP Electric for those Gyarados with Taunt, so they don't set up on Cresselia. Light Screen + Slack Off have saved me so many times, stalling out rain dance teams, super effective special attacks, etc.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EV's: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD
Relaxed Nature (+ Def,- Spe)
- Ice Punch
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Thunder

Registeel is a great wall who also resists many types. Ice Punch for those annoying Skymin, that can't even touch Registeel. Unlike Mamoswine, this can actually switch in against a Skymin and take more than one of it's attacks. Ice Punch also helps get rid of Skymin and other fliers. Earthquake for Metagross and Heatran switch-in's. Toxic is crucial to this set, as it can help stall out most pokes who would avoid toxic spikes otherwise. Thunder in case something happens to Slowking and I need another Gyarados counter. I have been thinking about using Zapdos instead of this, but I find that stealth rock hurts too much and it isn't worth it.

Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EV's: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature (+ Def,- Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind
- Dark Pulse

Spiritomb is my favorite pokemon to use and this set it one of the most effective in my opinion. This works wonders after Lucario and Heracross are gone. With no super effective attacks that can harm it, Spiritomb can wall every type of attack after a single Calm Mind. Also helps take fighting attacks and most other physical attacks. Rest and Sleep Talk are crucial so it can charge up while healing up. This pokemon is just so difficult to stop late-game if you let it set up by trying to status it.

All in all, the strategy to this team is to set up dual screens, force switches using my walls while gaining Stealth Rock damage, and either toxic stalling or sweeping. All of these pokes also cover each other's weaknesses well. Any and all comments are appreciated!

Heracross beats this team rather easily.

Obviously Slowking and Cresselia go down to Megahorn; Bronzong too takes 76.65% - 90.72% from a Choice Banded Megahorn / Close Combat, and Spiritomb takes a whopping 70.39% - 83.22% (and can do almost nothing back!). Close Combat will OHKO Registeel.

You are left with Lucario. Not a good position, its worrying Heracross can beat this too. In fact you have problems with ScarfCross too, which deals serious damage to all your Pokémon, 2HKOing every one if SR is in play (Spiritomb has a 0.59% chance to survive 2 Choice Scarf Megahorns after SR and with Leftovers. Your Lucario is walled by many things such as Dusknoir, Cresselia, Spiritomb etc. The problem is Heracross, to whom you have no safe switch in! If you go to Registeel you are being threatened by a possible Shaymin-S sweep as you become weakened (with no recovery move).

Using a Gliscor or Nidoqueen you would be able to counter Heracross. The former would (most likely) want to use Aerial Ace / Stealth Rock / Earthquake / Roost. Nidoqueen would probably use Aerial Ace / Stealth Rock or Toxic Spikes / Earthquake / Thunderbolt, Fire Blast or Ice Beam. Nidoqueen also allows you to absorb Toxic Spikes, and can help against certain Lucario. It is a great "utility" Pokémon to have about to absorb hits here and there. (If your really worried about Heracross continuously hitting you hard use RestTalk).

However, you would probably have to end up using it over..Slowking, Lucario or Spiritomb. If you go over Slowking you will most likely need Charge Beam on Cresselia to actually take out Gyarados. Over Lucario you lose your physical sweeper, and it will orientate the team into a "stallish" theme, except with barely any hazards. If you did this you Nidoqueen would be even more useful here as stall v stall, Toxic Spikes / Stealth Rock is awesome :D (SR also damn helps with Gyarados).

Use it over Spiritomb and you lose a RestTalker, a Pokémon that takes sleep. However, you gain "coverage" in that slot. I wouldn't personally put it over Spiritomb because it is your best answer to Cresselia, Celebi, Dusknoir etc. It also prevents Rapid Spinners from ruining the day, so it works in conjunction again with Nidoqueen.

Whatever you put it over it is likely to help more than be a hindrance, yet there will be a backlash from whatever option you decide, so then work accordingly to that change (eg. Nidoqueen over Slowking, therefore Charge Beam on Cresselia).

Hope I helped, and good luck! :toast:

What Twash said, and you have a rather bad DancePlatScizor problem too.

I would suggest Gyarados or Zapdos somewhere on your team.

Maybe a bulky pokemon with a fire type attack.

I don't think your capitalizing on Toxic abuse as you should. I just don't see the point in Slowking either; he's filler.

This is funky, but works wonders in Stall: Duggy @ Leftovers- Sub,Protect,Earthquake,Stone Edge/Toxic. Probably not as effective now w/ all those Scizors. I'd probably at least go for putting in some Sandstorm.

Your team has a big gaping Heracross weakness. For this I would suggest Gliscor over Spiritomb. I would also move Reflect to Bronzong, over Earthquake or Hypnosis (Hypnosis has been nerfed), and give Cresselia Calm Mind.

I realize that it appears as there is a Heracross weakness, but I never have any problems with it. Let's say my Cresselia is out, and Heracross either CB Megahorns it, or Pursuits it. I send in Lucario for the x4 resist (either way) and get a free SD and sweep (or at least attempt to from there). And with a Ghost and 2 Psychics, Close Combat won't give me any trouble either. Gliscor wouldn't really contribute to my team that much, besides countering one poke that I can already deal with. However, I am adding Nidoqueen, not only for Heracross support, but for the Toxic Spikes absorb. I am probably going to put it over Slowking, as I don't find myself needing Light Screen for my other teammates, just Slowking. Thanks for the contributions!

Try Psychic over Ice Beam on cresselia. it may leave you more vulnerable to dragons, but at least you won't have the infinately huge heracross weakness. This is because Hera tends to come into T-Waves for the extra attack boost, and then you can just get an easy kill.
