Skeledirge is a fantastic defensive Pokemon thanks to its great bulk and Unaware letting it check dangerous Pokemon like Iron Valiant, Volcarona, and Hatterene. Unlike other walls, however, Skeledirge can also be a foreboding wincon with Torch Song and its great offensive typing, which gives it nearly unresisted coverage. Will-O-Wisp gives it value against switch-ins such as Ting-Lu, Rotom-W, and Clodsire and cripples physical attackers like Great Tusk and Garchomp. Hex benefits from Skeledirge spreading burns, 2HKOing Pokemon such as Dragonite, Iron Hands, and physically defensive Dondozo unboosted, and Toxapex after a single boost from Torch Song. Tera Fairy bolsters Skeledirge against Dragon-types that would otherwise overwhelm it like Dragapult, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Baxcalibur. It also lets Skeledirge beat Quaquaval and lose its Ground weakness, letting it more easily spread burns against Ground-types like Great Tusk and Garchomp. In a pinch, it can bait Dark-type moves from Pokemon like Kingambit, Roaring Moon, and Meowscarada, Terastallize the same turn, and punish them with Will-O-Wisp. Tera Fairy also maintains Skeledirge's ability to beat Iron Valiant, Volcarona, and Hatterene.

Skeledirge fits on many bulky offense, balance, and stall teams as a much-appreciated answer to common wallbreakers such as Iron Valiant and Hatterene. Skeledirge often ends up entry hazard fodder for Ground-types such as Ting-Lu and Clodsire. Thus, secure hazard removers like Great Tusk and Corviknight are excellent partners. Additionally, Great Tusk can 2HKO the aforementioned Pokemon, helping set Skeledirge up for a potential sweep, while Corviknight walls the aforementioned Ground-types, can bring Skeledirge in later with U-turn, and can absorb Knock Off from the likes of Great Tusk, Meowscarada, and Iron Treads. Pokemon such as Meowscarada and Iron Valiant can overwhelm Skeledirge answers like Gholdengo, Great Tusk, and Ting-Lu. In addition to this, they appreciate Skeledirge's ability to beat Hatterene and, after Terastallizing, Dragapult. Covert Cloak Gholdengo can beat any Garganacl using Skeledirge as setup fodder. Bulky Water-types like Rotom-W and Toxapex help deal with offensive Water-types like Greninja and Quaquaval. Additionally, they can both spread status, facilitating Skeledirge's Hex. Rotom-W in particular can offensively check Ground-types like Great Tusk, Garchomp, and Ting-Lu too, although it cannot directly switch into them. Offensive Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, Kingambit, and Dragonite appreciate Skeledirge halting scary Pokemon, like Volcarona and Iron Valiant, and they help it overwhelm checks like Garganacl, Ting-Lu, and Clodsire.

With Substitute, Skeledirge can use its typing and bulk to consistently check Garganacl and more easily snowball with Torch Song. Substitute also allows Skeledirge to scout Choice item Pokemon like Roaring Moon and Dragonite, as well as protecting it from revenge killers like Kingambit and Roaring Moon more reliably. Substitute also lets Skeledirge set up against the likes of Garganacl and Cinderace, and it blocks from status from the likes of Toxapex, Clodsire, and Thunder Wave Rotom-W. Maximum HP investment means that Garganacl cannot break Substitute with Salt Cure. 40 Defense EVs let Skeledirge survive two Bulldozes from Focus Sash Breloom, meaning it can consistently outheal Bulldoze, barring a critical hit. 188 Special Defense EVs ensures it survives a Shadow Ball from non-Tera Ghost Choice Specs Dragapult, while 28 Speed EVs let it outspeed Kingambit. Tera Fairy helps stop the likes of Dragapult and Great Tusk from overwhelming Skeledirge, especially the former, which bypasses Substitute with Infiltrator but cannot 2HKO Skeledirge after it Terastallizes. Tera Fairy also prevents Garganacl's Earthquake from breaking Substitute.

Substitute Skeledirge fits best on bulky offense and balance teams as a good check to Garganacl. Pokemon Garganacl can overwhelm such as Dragonite, Hex Dragapult, Dragon Dance Roaring Moon, Calm Mind Hatterene, Corviknight, Toxapex, and Dondozo can lure it in for Skeledirge to set up Substitute on and snowball. Additionally, the former can break through Pokemon that wall Skeledirge, namely Toxapex and Clodsire, and Dragapult and Corviknight also boast U-turn, letting them pivot into Skeledirge on a Garganacl switch-in. The setup sweepers enjoy Skeledirge's potent wallbreaking, too. Toxapex and Dondozo also check Pokemon that overwhelm Skeledirge, such as Dragapult and Greninja. Pokemon that do not mind Knock Off like Great Tusk and Corviknight greatly help this set, as Skeledirge is both weak to Knock Off and reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots due to its Stealth Rock weakness. These Pokemon also double as entry hazard removers, with the former preventing Gholdengo from entering safely and the latter checking Ground-types like Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. Entry hazard setters such as Garchomp and Meowscarada can chip down Pokemon that wall Skeledirge like Ting-Lu and Clodsire. In return, Skeledirge can threaten common entry hazard answers like Hatterene and Corviknight, as well as spinblocking in a pinch.

Skeledirge is a fantastic defensive Pokemon thanks to its great bulk and ability letting it check dangerous Pokemon like Iron Valiant, Volcarona, and Hatterene. Unlike other walls, however, Skeledirge is also a foreboding wincon thanks to its great offensive typing giving it nearly unresisted coverage. also the access to set up is relevant to its win con-ness here. Will-O-Wisp gives it value against switch-ins such as Ting-Lu, Rotom-W, and Clodsire and physical attackers like Great Tusk, Garchomp, Baxcalibur, thermal exchange so definitely not and Breloom, wouldn't u just kill this tbh unless sash intact negating the former three's healing items and reducing the latter four's offensive potential. this feels a bit fluffy to me, can just say that will-o-wisp gives it value against... and lets it cripple physical attackers imo to cut down on the wordiness. Hex benefits from Skeledirge's capability at spreading burns, 2HKOing Pokemon such as Dragonite, Dondozo, clarify phys defense here, curse rest sets will still beat cause they aren't 3hkoed while asleep and Iron Hands unboosted, and Toxapex after a single boost from Torch Song. Tera Fairy enhances Skeledirge's matchups against Dragon-types like Dragapult, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Baxcalibur. turns it into an actual answer agaisnt them too which could possibly be stressed vs chomp / pult actually forcing it out otherwise (which u do mention with chomp later) It also maintains its ability to beat Iron Valiant, Volcarona, and Hatterene while also beating Quaquaval, and removes its weakness to Ground-type moves, letting it more easily spread burns against Ground-types like Great Tusk, Garchomp, and Clodsire.

Skeledirge fits on many bulky offense, balance, and stall teams as a much appreciated answer to common wallbreakers such as Iron Valiant and Hatterene. Skeledirge often finds itself vulnerable to Ground-types such as Ting-Lu and Clodsire. i think a relevant angle to take with this is that skeledirge is giving free opportunities for these pokemon to set hazards and spread chip through ww + hazards / toxic, so what you really want is defensive angles of handling this, be it hazard removers that beat them or good pviots into them. The point you bring up talks more about the angle of things that offensively pressure them which is nice but for instance the tusk part should be talking about the removal side too, can obviously also talk about things like corvi that check chomper / tusk etc and also do this. Pokemon that can beat these threats, such as Meowscarada and Iron Valiant, make for good partners, as they can also overwhelm Pokemon like Gholdengo and Great Tusk that beat Skeledirge. In addition to this, they appreciate Skeledirge's ability to beat Hatterene and, after Terastallizing, Dragapult. Pokemon that can beat Garganacl such as Kingambit and Covert Cloak Gholdengo also make for great partners, as Skeledirge is utterly walled by Garganacl. Kingambit pretty weak example here considering either just loses to curse tera water or just gets flat out body pressed, can also stress here how skeledirge is actually giving garganacl set up too which is more dangerous than just being walled, so you do want the reliable answers. Bulky Water-types like Rotom-W and Toxapex can help deal with offensive Water-types like Greninja and Quaquaval. Rotom-W really sucks versus both in all honesty, its fine as an offensive check but in this context sounds like a switch in which its not really when its 2hkoed by secondary stabs. Would phrase this more as something like "rotom-w cant hard switch in but instead can offensively check them and help against ground-types..." Rotom-W in particular can also help against Ground-types like Great Tusk, Garchomp, and Ting-Lu. Offensive Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, Kingambit, and Dragonite appreciate Skeledirge's ability to halt scary Pokemon like Volcarona feels a weird example to me cause half of these arent hugely threatened by volcarona outside of a flame body burn, could give another example that tusk / dragonite struggle with that dirge helps with here while also helping it overwhelm checks like Garganacl, Ting-Lu, and Clodsire.

With the combination of its typing, bulk, and access to Substitute, Skeledirge is able to consistently check Garganacl while increasing its potential to snowball with Torch Song. Substitute also allows for Skeledirge to scout Pokemon like Kingambit, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite more reliably. well Kingambit its less about scouting, its not choiced and u really hurt it with a potential torch song, so its more just about protection from a super effective STAB from them while you get free damage off. With the other two you are mostly considering the Choiced sets for scouting here, DD sets either beat you no matter what if you don't tera or lose if u tera (unless its tera steel roaring moon) so you probably want to clarify Choiced for those two. It also gives Skeledirge more opportunities to set up against the likes of Garganacl and Cinderace. This opening should specify more clearly that its using Substitute to set up against and check garganacl thanks to its bulk investment letting its sub always live salt cure too. You also need to bring up how it improves matchups versus things like toxapex by giving you the ability to dodge a toxic. Maximum HP investment means that Garganacl cannot break Substitute with Salt Cure. 40 Defense EVs lets Skeledirge survive two Bulldozes from Focus Sash Breloom, meaning it can consistently outheal Bulldoze. 188 Special Defense EVs ensures that Skeledirge can survive a Shadow Ball from (only when its not tera ghosted though) Choice Specs Dragapult, while 28 Speed EVs lets Skeledirge outspeed Kingambit. explain tera fairy again, noteably pult not being able to 2hko u which makes it less of a threat harding in on a potential sub and pressuring u after, u being able to stay in on things like tusk to pressure them.

Substitute Skeledirge fits best on bulky offense and balance teams as a consistent answer to Garganacl. In this vein, Pokemon that are vulnerable to being overwhelmed by Garganacl such as Choice Band Dragapult, feels like this would rather specify just pult in general or specs /hex pult, cb dragon darts can 2hko or nearly 2hko after hazards depending on spdef/pdef so it doesnt mind as much Mixed Iron Valiant, another weird mention since moonblast -> cc can kill spdef and cc is still a 2hko into pdef so thats not switching in either and Dragonite greatly appreciate Skeledirge’s ability to check Garganacl, as it grants them more opportunities for them to wallbreak. In general i think though that this point seems to act like skeledrige wants to constantly switch into garganacl to pressure it when these pokemon let it in, which is less the case since its wanting to avoid salt cure especially. Whats especially relevant is stuff like dragapult luring it in with u-turn here in that vein though. Additionally, they are able to break through Pokemon that would otherwise wall Skeledirge, namely Toxapex and Clodsire. Pokemon that do not mind losing their item such as Great Tusk and Corviknight make for good partners to this set, as Skeledirge is both weak to Knock Off and reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots due to its Stealth Rock weakness. what pokemon knock skeledirge that actually want to try and knock it? worth bringing them up, eg great tusk, and how ur teammates can help check those. These Pokemon also double as options for hazard control, worth noting this is mostly useful when skeledirge tera's as its more inclined to take a knock from great tusk then, otherwise it doesnt have much reason to take them in general.with the former also being able to prevent Gholdengo from entering safely and the latter checking Ground-types like Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. corvis also a good example of something that can invite garganacl in for set up tbh.
