SM OU Slightly Weird OTR (1950 on ladder)


Introduction

Basically this is an "almost" standard OTR team, but changed a couple of things to address I thought many OTR teams had. For example, I had never seen an OTR team with any sort of reasonable hazard control. Also, the move Fake-Out from both Lopunny and Mega-Medicham were very annoying. I'll explain a bit below how I tried fixing these.

The Team


Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 64 Def / 196 SpD

This is the initial suicide lead. You might be surprised: Diancie will get OHKOed too easily! If you think this, check out the following calcs.

252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Diancie: 236-282 (77.6 - 92.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 196+ SpD Diancie: 254-302 (83.5 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Diancie: 254-302 (83.5 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Additionally, the threat of being Mega-Diancie oftens deters first turn hazards. The general strategy here is: Trick Room, then Rocks (hope you get KOed this turn). If not, then Explosion. Magic Bounce does a solid job of protecting against opposing hazard setters. I think the last slot (which I have listed as Skill Swap for now) can probably be changed to many other things.

Standard set. Simply sets some TR (many times hopefully!) and then Lunar Dances.


Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
Standard set again. Nothing special here.


Tapu Lele @ Mind Plate
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psychic
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
Lele with a little bit of extra bulk is very cool. It can tank almost every unboosted special hit, even most super effective ones. I chose Mind Plate to essentially make it so that Psychic and Psyshock provide Timid Specs level damage, with the option of changing to Moonblast if desired. A couple of (random) calcs.

I don't think we need many calcs, basically the damage is on the level of Timid Specs (for Psychic and Psyshock). I also think many other items are viable, including Specs itself, Metronome, etc.

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart

Sweeper at the end of games when all resists are gone. I like running dual STABs, but I think replacing Flash Cannon with either Focus Blast or Ice Beam allows you to hit more things. I just like Flash Cannon for the consistency and power.

Conclusion

Any comments? Basically I just Diancie is almost the perfect suicide lead for OTR, and would be happy to hear about other suicide leads that seem better. I just feel that all others I've seen cannot both set rocks AND prevent rocks so consistently.
