[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Slowbro is a potent Calm Mind sweeper that is difficult to stop once it gets going. Its great defensive typing and bulk mean only a few Pokemon can outright KO it after it boosts, and its immunity to Toxic lets it safely set up against defensive Pokemon such as Milotic, Registeel, and Diancie. The longevity provided by Regenerator and Slack Off means Galarian Slowbro can often outlast its checks to then clean up late-game. Galarian Slowbro can also pick and chose which checks it wants to beat with the use of either Shuca Berry or Colbur Berry. Galarian Slowbro can fall prey to the momentum-heavy metagame and find itself without any setup opportunities, however, and it has solid counterplay in Seismitoad, Gastrodon, and Calm Mind Reuniclus. Without a Calm Mind boost, Galarian Slowbro can easily be overwhelmed by powerful special attackers as well.

[SET]
name: Calm Mind
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Sludge Bomb
move 3: Scald
move 4: Slack Off
item: Shuca Berry / Colbur Berry
ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Scald deals massive damage to Rhyperior while also muscling through Steel-types such as Metagross, Registeel, and Steelix with the aid of a potential burn. The burn chance can also cripple physical attackers trying to break through Galarian Slowbro such as Zygarde-10%, Durant, and Choice Band Bewear. Slack Off keeps Galarian Slowbro healthy enough to safely check and set up against Pokemon such as Cobalion and Mienshao. Psyshock can be used over Sludge Bomb to hit Toxtricity, Dragalge, and Toxicroak while beating Calm Mind RestTalk Suicune and opposing Galarian Slowbro. However, without Sludge Bomb, Galarian Slowbro can't threaten Dark-types like Zarude, Obstagoon, and Sharpedo. Shuca Berry lets Galarian Slowbro fish for a burn against Ground-types like Zygarde-10% and Rhyperior. On the other hand, Colbur Berry can be used for absorbing Knock Off and threatening Dark-types such as Zarude, Obstagoon, and Sharpedo. Running Black Sludge lessens the need to use Slack Off as often, but Galarian Slowbro can already afford to take heavy blows like Darkest Lariat from Zarude to then heal most of it thanks to Regenerator.

Zarude is a great teammate for covering Ground-types like Seismitoad and Gastrodon. It can also provide a free switch with U-turn and setup opportunities against its switch-ins like Cobalion, Noivern, and Galarian Weezing. In return, Galarian Slowbro covers Fighting-types like Mienshao, Cobalion, and Choice Scarf Heracross. Zarude can also check Calm Mind Reuniclus and Suicune, which Galarian Slowbro loses to. Nasty Plot Togekiss, Obstagoon, and Doublade also deal with Reuniclus, while Roserade can check Suicune. Entry hazards are great for wearing down Guts Heracross and Obstagoon. Chople Berry Cobalion is a particularly great choice of Stealth Rock setter because it can switch into a Guts user at least once. Steelix, Rhyperior, and Registeel are also notable, as all three can check Choice Specs Toxtricity. Registeel also checks other powerful special attackers such as Choice Specs Indeedee-M, Gardevoir, and Sylveon. Hazard removal is crucial, as Galarian Slowbro can be overwhelmed by pivoting into attacks and multiple entry hazards. Defoggers such as Noivern and Togekiss therefore make great partners for Galarian Slowbro. Knock Off can be a nuisance for non-Colbur Berry Galarian Slowbro, so Knock Off absorbers such as Cobalion and Gastrodon can cover it.

An Assault Vest set with the moveset of Future Sight / Sludge Bomb / Psyshock / Scald and EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 SpD with a Bold nature can check special attackers such as Noivern, Xurkitree, and Gardevoir. However, outside of a Fairy resistance and immunity to Toxic, it has very little over Assault Vest Reuniclus's superior special bulk and utility in Knock Off. A Nasty Plot set with Quick Draw and Quick Claw as the item works as a sweeper on hyper offense, but the luck-based nature of the set makes it a gimmick outside said playstyle. Choice Specs Galarian Slowbro makes for a hard-hitting wallbreaker that can surprise conventional checks like Seismitoad and Gastrodon with Grass Knot. However, it's held back by its Speed, which makes it easily exploitable despite its great natural bulk and Regenerator. Trick coupled with Black Sludge cripples common switch-ins like Seismitoad and Gastrodon for Galarian Slowbro's teammates.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon and Seismitoad can switch in on Galarian Slowbro and beat it one-on-one. However, neither enjoys being poisoned by Sludge Bomb, especially Seismitoad. Gastrodon can also falter against Galarian Slowbro if it lacks Clear Smog. Other Ground-types such as Choice Band Rhyperior and Zygarde-10% immensely threaten non-Shuca Berry Galarian Slowbro but need to watch out for Scald.

**Calm Mind Users**: Galarian Slowbro loses the Calm Mind war against Reuniclus and Suicune. Magic Guard Reuniclus doesn't mind status and targets Galarian Slowbro's unboosted Defense stat with Psyshock. Substitute + Protect Suicune can't directly switch in due to fear of getting poisoned or burned, but it can PP stall Galarian Slowbro if it gets a free switch. RestTalk Suicune can switch in without any fear but needs to watch out for Psyshock variants.

**Guts Users**: Obstagoon and Heracross can very easily overwhelm Galarian Slowbro, as they don't fear a potential burn. However, they get worn down quickly throughout a match by the constant burn damage. Neither likes switching into Galarian Slowbro due to Sludge Bomb dealing a hefty chunk of damage.

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Special attackers such as Toxtricity, Chandelure, and Choice Specs Indeedee-M have enough strength to plow through Galarian Slowbro even after it uses Calm Mind, but they cannot switch into it safely.

**Phazing** Pokemon such as Clear Smog Gastrodon, Haze Milotic, and Roar Suicune can remove Calm Mind boosts and stop Galarian Slowbro in its tracks.

[OVERVIEW]
  • great setup sweeper that is hard to stop once it gets going.
  • great defensive typing and bulk means few mons can outright ko glowbro once setup. poison typing means you can't toxic glowbro
  • can beat checks in the long run thanks to regen and slack off
  • can fall prey to the momentum heavy metagame and find itself without setup opportunities
  • easily overwhelmed by strong special attackers without boosts
would have the points reordered here. first mention the great typing, bulk, and ability. then lead into it saying its a great setup sweeper etc etc cuz its hard to ohko it outright once it sets up. add in here that the ability allows it to sustain and beat checks in long run. mention how it has the ability to beat its own "checks" with the use of berries.

  • Scald deals massive damage to Rhyperior while also muscling through Steel-types such as Metagross, Registeel, and Steelix with the aid of a potential burn. The burn chance can also cripple physical attackers such as Zygarde-10%, Durant, Choice Band Bewear trying to break through Galarian Slowbro.
  • Slack Off lets it check and safely set up on mons like Mienshao and Cobalion.
  • Shuca Berry ease the matchup against grounds like zydog and rhyperior and lets it safely fish for burn.
  • Colbur berry for dark-types like zarude, obstagoon, and pangoro. (feel like incin > goro is good here since goro isnt the most common and u can take a knock to chunk incin with scald)
  • Regen let glowbro stay around longer and take riskier hits to then heal most after switching out.
mention psyshock as an alternative here, probs wld be over sludge bomb, while u miss out on zarude as the only notable target, which is smth u dont rly aim to stay in on and beat if not colbur anyways, it allows u to win cm wars vs cune and opposing gbro, which is quite good imo.
mention black sludge, additional form of sustain which can always be helpful, just means u cant sorta pick ur checks with the use of resist berries.

  • Zarude is a great teammate for covering Ground-types like Seismitoad and Gastrodon for Galarian Slowbro. It can also provide a free switch with U-turn and setup opportunity against its switch-ins like Cobalion, Noivern, and Galarian Weezing. In return, Galarian Slowbro covers Fighting-types (making sure its noticeable) like Mienshao, Cobalion, and Choice Scarf Heracross. Zarude can also check Calm Reuniclus and Suicune for Galarian Slowbro.
  • Speaking of which, Answers to CM Reuniclus and Suicune are needed, since glowbro loses the 1v1. NP togekiss, obstagoon, and doublade deal with cm reuniclus while zarude and celebi check cm suicune. (not sure about celebi cuz double psy can be awkward when zarude is kinda omnipresent, but will leave it up to you whether its better to find smth else or keep it)
  • Hazards are great for wearing down obstagoon and heracross. Cobalion especially good as with chople berry it can at least switch in once against either of them. Steelix and Rhyperior are also notable, as they switch in on Specs toxtricity. Registeel is another SR setter that can switch in on tox while also checking other powerful special attackers such as Spec Indeedee-M, Garde, and Sylveon. Diancie is great for chandelure and np thundurus. (chandy is iffy if ure tox'ed prior, cuz u get 2 hit by hex on rocks, find smth else)
  • Hazard removal is crucial, as glowbro can be overwhelmed by pivoting into strong attacks and multiple entry hazards. It also negates much of regen. Defoggers such as Noivern, Togekiss, and Crobat make for good teammates.
knock off absorbers are kinda important, if ure shuca for example, or maybe even bsludge, ud want to avoid knock for sure. wont be as necessary with colbur, but defo worth mentioning.

  • Assault Vest, but outside of Toxic immune and Fairy resistance it has very little over AV Reuniclus's superior special bulk and utility in Knock.
  • quick draw sets with np on ho
  • Choice Specs with stabs + flamethrower and grass knot
  • belly drum cheese
trick w bsludge or some other items cld be decent here? Mac3 probs agrees :joy:. but on the real, trick seems ok to cheese certain stuff, similar to how trick is oo on reun as well.
also with bdrum here, which tbh i dont think its even worth but i guess u can make it work with quick draw, feel like u cld toss in a otr mention. perhaps consider removing bd if u feel otr isnt worth cuz i feel like theyd be on a similar level.

Other Ground-types such as Choice Band Rhyperior and Zygarde-10% immensely threaten Galarian Slowbro but need to watch out for Scald. mention that they have to be wary of shuca, esp considering its ur main slash for item

Reuniclus doesn't mind being afflicted by status thanks to Magic Guard and Psyshock lets it target Galarian Slowbro's unboosted Defense stat. Suicune running Substitute + Protect sets can't directly switch in due to fear of getting poisoned or burned, but it can PP stall Galarian Slowbro if it gets a free switch. RestTalk Suicune, on the other hand, can. mention if u run psyshock, suicune can be beaten in cm war

However, both Obstagoon and Heracross gets quickly throughout a match by the constant burn damage. this section do be kinda filled alr, but adding phazing i feel is needed here. stuff like haze milo, csmog gastro, roar cune, can all dampen a sweep attempt.

Registeel also checks other powerful special attackers such as Choice Specs Indeedee-M, Gardevoir, and Sylveon. Hazard removal is crucial, as Galarian Slowbro can be overwhelmed by pivoting into attacks and multiple entry hazards. Defoggers such as Noivern and Togekiss therefore make great partners to for Galarian Slowbro. Knock Off can be a nuisance for non-Colbur Berry Galarian Slowbro, so Knock Off absorbers such as Cobalion and Gastrodon can cover it.

=============

===================

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon and Seismitoad can switch in on Galarian Slowbro and beat it 1v1 one-on-one.
