Slowbroongus

Got this team after doin a lot of reading about the RMT OU's. Let's keep it simple.

THE TEAM:

170px-080Slowbro.png

Slowbro @leftovers
252 HP 252 Def 4 Spe (Bold)
Regenerator
- scald
- flamethrower
- psyshock
- whack off

typical set, with regenerator makes his team up with his bro amoongus disgustingly awesome. switch into resistances, switch out for health. only drawback are bug attacks. A lot of people switch in ferrothorns and other bulky grass types not expecting a flamethrower. So it still works But I don't know how long it will be working for. He has bad synergy with Xatu however, as electric attacks own some of my mons and I have no real resistances to them except for moongus.

amoonguss.jpg

Amoongus @leftovers
252 Hp 252 Spd 4 Spe (Calm)
Regenerator
- spore
- toxic
- clear smog
- HP ICE

Same with Slowbro. His moveset is whack though. still does his job and clear smog can really stop set up sweepers sometimes. HP ice for the dragons. however his special attack is pretty weak. He is my Special D pokemon, he can even survive some fireblasts at full health. He sometimes is my best answer to ghosts, which are hard to beat with my team set up so far. I would like to know how to battle them a little better. The biggest annoyances are the substitutes that he can't status on.

EDIT XATU IS NOW FORRETRESS

Forretress @leftovers
252 Hp 252 SpD 4 Spe (Calm)
Sturdy
- rapid spin
- stealth rock
- gyro
- volt-turn

Typical rapid spinner / hazard layer.

salamence.jpg

Salamence @choice band
Intimidate
80 Atk 176 SpA 252 Spe (Naive)
- earthquake
- brick break
- outrage
- stone edge

Choice band Salamence. Revenge kills also. about 50 50 for usage. Dies a lot, kills a lot. Even with +speed and maxed stat, a lot of things still out speed him. Either that or I am just throwing him at the wrong stuff. Is there possibly a better mixed attack dragonite? Can flygon be on the table?

Now my sweepers.

3%20Volcarona.png

Volcarona @life orb
Flame Body
4 Hp 252 SpA 252 Spe (modest)
- bug buzz
- fiery dance
- HP ROCK
- quiver dance

As always, Volc kills a lot. resists psychic for my main man crunkeldurr. Benefits from screens. Volc easily nets me at least 1 kill, mostly 2 or 3. Or he can kill all the pokemons. I go to town after 1 quiver dance, which is usually enough to get the job done, even on things that resist bug buzz. Fiery dance never procs the SpA boost, though. But Fire blast is usually to inaccurate for me.

conkeldurr.jpg

Crunkeldurr @leftovers
Guts
148 Hp 224 Atk 136 Spe
- drain punch
- mach punch
- stone edge
- bulk up

The big jive maw fugga himself, crunkeldurr. always down to knock punk suckas to the ground. bulk up/drain punch version. I choose stone edged because I have killed ghosts with that a billion times. seems better than payback.
The Kung Fu master, always down to crunk out and slam shit with rocks.

As you can see, I have a sick defensive core, followed by a sick sweep core. I have no spinner, only magic bounce. Stealth rocks can really damage my team. I am mostly hesitant about my salamence and xatu, but I don't know what to replace them with. They seem to fit the least. Maybe some kind of choice user?

Ghosts are a big problem. They own half of my 2 core units. Salamence is just iffy to deal with them, and I have nothing to break substitutes, as so many of them like to use.
Flying pokemon are also hard to beat somtimes. they eat 'moongus , Volcarona and the Crunk, and I don't have a quick answer to them barring a big draco meteor fro Sal.

NEW PROBLEMS: bulky substitutes, and Sableye. I can't beat that priority taunt/sub/burn shenanigans

Dude, I dig the team, but you need to expand your descriptions or else this RMT will get locked. Also, Slowbroongus is one of the greatest words ever invented. Nice job!

Hello Nunchuck! You have a pretty interesting team, good job :)

Anyway, I have a couple of suggestions. Your team would really benefit from a spinner. While you have Xatu who can bounce back hazards, this is too unreliable as if you predict wrong and don't send him in, the opponent will have hazards over your team permanently. Xatu is easily taken out as well, as his defenses are subpar and his offense is pretty much non-existent. A good Pursuit or Crunch from a Tyranitar pretty much stops him. I recommend you switch Xatu for a bulky Starmie. Here's the set:

121.gif

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid
252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Natural Cure
-Scald
-Psyshock
-Rapid Spin
-Recover

This set is surprisingly bulky, and is a great lure for crippling Starmie's typical checks. Using Scald and burning Tyranitar, Scizor, etc. is fantastic. Psyshock is for a powerful STAB which helps you against powerful threats with bad defense that like to switch in, such as Keldeo.

Recover is obviously for you to stick around, and Rapid Spin of course keeps Stealth Rock away, helping your Volcarona and Salamence last a while!

I'll post more suggestions later.

Hey,

Cool team, Nunchuck. First off, I'd go with Giga Drain over Toxic on Amoonguss - this change allows it to deal a good amount of damage while being able to gain health back, and lets you do something to Gastrodon and Jellicent. I find that your team is really weak to Stealth Rock, as Volcarona and Salamence will have limited switch-ins. Volcarona can only switch-in twice before dying, and Salamence will be switching in 4 times before going down. To help patch this weakness, I'd recommend a Rapid Spin Hitmontop (see set below) over Conkeldurr. With Intimidate, Hitmontop can switch-into numerous physical threats and clear your field from hazards with Rapid Spin. With Toxic, it can cripple spinblockers like Jellicent, while Close Combat is its main STAB, that hits pretty hard despite the lack of Attack investment. In the last slot, you have Sucker Punch to revenge-kill weakened Latios coming in to take out Hitmontop. The EV spread maximizes physical bulk, allowing Hitmontop to tanks those hits with more ease. It already has a high natural special defense anyways. Leftovers is for recovery. If you decide to implement this change, you may want Hidden Power Ground over Hidden Power Rock on Volcarona, as Hitmontop won't be packing as much punch to deal with Heatran, who currently walls your Volcarona. I don't have much else to add - cool team, and good luck! Hope I helped.

Hi there!

This is a pretty cool team, but I do see you have a big problem with entry hazards. Two of your sweepers, Volcarona and Salamence suffer from a common Stealth Rock weakness, while you have no spinner to keep hazards off the field. While you may have Xatu to reflect said hazards, that is not a reliable way to keep them off your side of the field, and any good player will easily predict when Xatu is coming in, and will attack rather than using Stealth Rock / Spikes. To help with this, I recommend that you try out Forretress over your current Xatu. Forretress gives you a great Rapid Spinner to remove hazards off your side of the field. This is great when switching in Salamence and Volcarona as it gives you a lot more opportunities to switch in, and cause havoc for your opponent's team. It also helps as Xatu itself is weak to Stealth Rock, and even with investment, it does not sport the greatest defences. Forretress has much better defences than Xatu, while also providing you with your own entry hazards, which is something that your team currently lacks. Additionally, Forretress gives you a great check against common threats such as Terrakion, Mamoswine, Haxorus and other Dragons who look threatening for your Salamence and can deter you from setting up with Volcarona.

Additionally, something else I have noticed is that you lack a revenge killer. Given that this is a fearly balanced team, you really do lack some sort of answer for faster threats, such as Tornadus-T who seems very troublesome for you to face. Tornadus-T and other fast Pokemon such as Latios and Alakazam have no problem spamming their STAB moves at you, while you have a hard time dealing with them. If you choose to use Forretress over Xatu, then you may find that your Salamence has a lot more sweeping potential with the hazards support Forretress provides. While Salamence is a great mixed sweeper, it doesn't look like you really need to go mixed when most physical walls are covered by other members of your team, Volcarona and Slowbro. As a result, I recommend that you try out a Choice Scarf Salamence over your current MixMence. Choice Scarf Salamence provides your team with a much needed revenge killer. With Moxie, Salamence takes full advantage of team support from Slowbro and Amoonguss and can boost it's attack even higher after each kill, making it arguably a much better late game sweeper than Mixed Salamence. Scarf Salamence also helps you greatly against the aforementioned threats, namely Tornadus-T and Latios, as a scarf set allows you to outspeed them easily and dispatch of them, taking a lot of pressure off your defensive core to deal with them.

While I understand that a Choice Scarf mon is not an 100% reliable way to deal with faster threats, I do think there is a way you could help to deal with them. I recommend that you try out Stun Spore > Toxic on Amoonguss. Generally the things that will be switching in on Amoonguss are faster mons that can heavily dent you. Given that this is a relatively slow team, Stun Spore allows you to cripple these faster threats on the switch, and switch out appropriately to avoid taking a big hit. This is great for slowing down Tornadus-T, Latios, Thundurus-T, Terrakion, Alakazam and various other faster Pokemon that seem troublesome for you to face.

Cool team, hope I helped!

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Stealth Rock / Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball
- Volt Switch

Salamence (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Dragon Claw / Fire Fang

I agree with the Hitmontop suggestion, but I'd use Foresight on it, preferably over Sucker Punch, since one of Top's advantages over other Rapid Spinners is its ability to get a guaranteed spin off since it can remove the typing of Ghost-types that try to block it. Toxic is a good move, and it may cripple Jellicent and Sableye, you're not doing anything else to it, while it will whittle you down with repeated Scalds. Toxic is utterly useless against Gengar, who's immune to it, and Substitute will block any attempts at Sucker Punching it. Using Hidden Power Ground on Volcarona is also a good idea. If you go with the Scarf Salamence suggested above, I'd use Stone Edge so you can check other Volcarona without resorting to locking yourself into Outrage. Other than that, the team looks solid.
