OU SM OU - Teambuilding Competition: (Week 1: Tapu Fini)

I don't really believe in my building or playing but here's my contribution because I thought it'd be fun.

Honestly I'm always a fan of stone edge just because i always do something stupid vs volc, z drake is probably better overall and there's definitely times I wish I was using it instead but my stone edges are more accurate than my rock slides. Standard set but the standard sets are standard for a reason.

I love this mon and I love trying to put it where it probably doesn't belong, that's why its here, again the smogon set because I find it reliable.
zapdos.png.m.1716648629
I like having a rocky helmet mon on my teams and I've been wanting to use zapdos, volt switch might be better than discharge but I've gotten a fair amount of use out of discharge with it, defogger #1, punishes contact well, there's no way either discharge or static are 30% they both feel like 70%. Sometimes I wish I was running hp ice or something instead of heatwave, but I don't have the most in the way of dealing with ferro.
rotom-wash.png.m.1716648629
Defog + a much needed ice resistance, specially defensive for some added special bulk, maybe physical + willo to deal with some annoying physical attackers would be better.
magearna.png.m.1716648629
AV Mag is my goat, some special attackers like to ruin my day, also ice beam always freezes with this thing and I don't know why (maybe it wants me to keep using it), honestly I just wanted an ice resist that also deals with special attackers and kinda deals with glisc a little bit.
greninja.png.m.1716648629
More speed is welcome, 4 attacks because I'd rather not defog away spikes and I'm too indecisive on rockslide vs gunk, just the smogon set but with gunk over a hazard.
The sets are pretty standard but I think this team is probably eh, better than average for what I produce but its probably not super good, definitely a lot of times when I regret not running a certain move.

hey, ill be your new host from here on out, hf everybody

week 1: tapu-fini
:sm/tapu-fini:
tapu-fini, a stable on bulky offense forever. its amazing typing in water/fairy, great ability with misty terrain, and utility, is a role that is seemingly impossible to replace. with new developments we see innovation pushing this mon further. calm mind, scarf are great examples of this. happy building!
deadline: 25th november 2024, 11:59PM, GMT -5.

^Importable. All the nicknames are different Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 songs
:tapu-fini: Tapu Fini is one of those pokemon I end up using a lot (almost like it fits my preferred team style well), scarf because I was interested in trying it out, trick cripples walls, defog for hazard removal so I don't have to worry about bringing in other mons.
:garchomp: Chomp over KB because I prefer chomp's speed and typing, dragonium outrage because i realized that still beats volc (I'm a little stupid).
:heatran: I was going to use a trapping set on this but then i missed another 3 magma storms in a row and I'd rather just check grasses then (esp serp), protect is for scouting and high jump kick.
:zapdos: I use this pokemon too much maybe, it deals with some annoying pokemon pretty easily while still hitting naturally hard.
:scizor-mega: Its a pretty basic core but fini + heatran + scizor is basic for a reason, good synergy, I dont have enough time to cook this week since the holidays are coming up and I might as well submit something basic over nothing at all. Scizor is one of my favorite megas to use because its pretty good all around, contributes to a pivoting core between it and its classic teammate rotom-wash
:rotom-wash: Contributes a second defogger, and it fufills a classic voltturn core between it and scizor, special bulk because I like special defense rotom a bit more.
Other options include trapping heatran, other fini sets (cm and the standard utility set), phys def rotom is another option, knock on scizor, these are just what i considered swapping in the building process and theres obviously other things you can run.
Sorry for the generic team this week, I'm just a bit busy and I wanted to get something in.

Hope this still counts

Decided to build around a offensive cm fini set.

Mega Scizor, Victini, and Magearna make for a good BO core that can take advantage of each other well. Magearna and Fini can wear down fairy checks and Mega Scizor and Victini appreciate the extra buffer with Ash-Gren, waters in general and taking advantage of pex.

Landorus provides the team with crucial defog, speed control, and a ground immunity

Kommo-o helps shore up weakness with opposing fires and waters
