Battle Spot Small changes to fit Battle Spot Singles

Hi! I designed a pretty decent XY OU team from my point of view and I've enjoyed pretty much using it with decent results in Showdown. The team and the roles can be seen here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/newbies-first-competitive-team.3519822/

The problem is that I'd love to test this team in my 3DS rather than just in Showdown, and obviously there are some restrictions, which are:

- The Zapdos cannot be used as it knows Defog (it was its main advantage, so any reason to keep it on the team rather than knowing the only Fire type move on the team (except from Fire-Punch from T-Tar)?)

- The Keldeo cannot be used in Battle Spot (-.-' I love Keldeo).

- Items cannot be repeated

So I'm facing a problem here. I've to replace Keldeo and maybe Zapdos and I do not know how my team would be affected by that. I've thought to change Greninja for Keldeo, but I'm not the biggest fan of Life-Orb Greninja due to its lack of bulk... Any other options?

Moreover, I'm considering chaning my Zapdos. I used it as a defogger (are Stealth Rock/Spikes/Sticky Web still threats nowadays?) "and a fire-type attacker", but maybe there are other options regarding the needed changes. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance! Cheers.

Well with Defog, you probably won't really need it. Stealth Rocks aren't used in every match and when they are used, it's not as bad as OU since there's less turns and less times your pokemon will switch in to take damage. Zapdos is still very good without Defog as a flying type check, as Mega Salamence is around in Battle Spot and Defensive Zapdos is one of its best switch ins. Some decent options for Zapdos over Defog could be HP Ice, Toxic, or even Volt Switch for momentum. Your team doesn't look too weak to Rocks so taking Defog off won't be bad at all.

For the item clause, Zapdos normally runs Rocky Helmet over Leftovers, Rocky Helmet is really good against pokemon like Talonflame and Salamence who commonly use moves with recoil. It also hurts Mega Kangaskhan pretty good as well. And for Sylveon, it often runs a Rest + Chesto Berry set in Battle Spot. You could consider that so you don't stack leftovers with Ferrothorn. RestoChesto on Sylv is not too bad in Battle Spot because of the fewer turns, so having that limited recovery isn't as hindering as it would be in OU. This also gives you room to use another move, since you won't need protect alongside Wish. You could run Heal Bell to aid the team, or even Calm Mind to make Sylveon a potentially threatening sweeper as well.

For Keldeo, Greninja is pretty good pick over it. It even has Low Kick so you still have that fighting type coverage that Keldeo had, which is nice for Mega Kangaskhan. Life Orb Greninja is pretty great but if you don't like it Focus Sash sets are also viable on Greninja, they lack a lot of power but help out Greninja's bulk just a bit. If you don't want to use Greninja, another option could be Blaziken. Blaziken is fairly different but if you need a fast fighting-type just like Keldeo it's pretty good, it just has a different secondary STAB but it's still pretty good.

As Sylveon does know Toxic and has a decent bulk already, for Zapdos I like the idea of using HP Ice, and even more now that you say that it is a decent counter for Salamence. I've heard that there are a lot of them out there and having a counter for them is really important. I'll go with the Rocky Helmet as well! Do you think that this set would be enough to counter a Talonflame?

The RestoChesto set for Sylveon does look nice as well, I'll give it a try. I'd love to increase the bulking power with Calm Mind but wouldn't I be a bit vulnerable while setting these increases?

And finally I like the idea of a Low Kick Greninja, would it 1HKO M-Kangaskhan? I would like to counter this poke as well as there are lots of them in this category I've been told.

Thank you very much for your help!

Yeah Zapdos is a great mon to deal with Talonflame as well, it resists brave bird and can take it out with Thunderbolt.

With Sylveon, you're not exactly vulnerable while setting them up, you just need to use it at the right time. You don't always have to Calm Mind.

And Greninja can't ohko mega kanga reliably without some prior damage, unless you run max attack, which isn't exactly too bad if you're running Gunk Shot as well. The lack of SpA doesn't hurt you too much as you still pick up all the KOs you need with Ice Beam and all. But how much EVs you run in Atk and SpA is totally up to you, Greninja will perform well regardless of what spread you run.
