BW OU has voted to ban gems. As this vote occurred before Round 2 of the BW Cup, this ban will be in effect from Round 2 onwards. Due to the timing of the vote's conclusion, the ban may not be implemented yet on the Smogtours or main PS! servers when Round 2 is posted, but the ban will still be in effect. If a player brings a gem, they will lose that game.
Situation: In his ADV Cup set versus Hclat, thelinearcurve intentionally misplayed to throw game 2, giving Hclat a significantly increased chance of winning that game, which Hclat proceeded to do. While thelinearcurve's intent behind throwing did not appear to be malicious and the players do not appear to have colluded in advance to rig the set, throwing a tournament game is explicitly against tournament rules and cannot be permitted in any form, as it severely undermines the competitiveness of our tournaments.
As Hclat lost both of the other games in their ADV Cup set, neither of which had any sign of being illegitimate, Hclat will not advance further in the ADV Cup.
Result: thelinearcurve will be tournament banned for six months, since he's done this before.
edit: He has appealed and his ban was reduced to three months.
Situation: In his ADV Cup set versus TDK, bruno threw game 3 by forfeiting after turn 2 due to a critical hit. giving. While bruno's intent behind throwing did not appear to be malicious (as he had simply given up) and the players do not appear to have colluded in advance to rig the set, throwing a tournament game is explicitly against tournament rules and cannot be permitted in any form, as it severely undermines the competitiveness of our tournaments. In addition, bruno admitted his error.
Result: bruno will be tournament banned for three months.
