Smogon Superstars II

Introduction: The tournament is the sequel to Smogon Superstars I. This sequel will introduce a unique style of survival swiss, which pits players against each other, and those with enough wins will advance to the next round. As with it's predecessor, consistency will be greatly rewarded all the way up to the quarter-final.

Player selection:Players will be handpicked by a group of judges that are well respected in the community: Jibaku, Earthworm, Reyscarface, Reachzero, and Gouki. Players must earn 2 approvals in order to participate. 64 players will play, and there will be a need for substitutes. Sign-ups will remain open for 72 hours, giving ample opportunity to anyone who wishes to play.

Round 1:All 64 players will be randomly divided into 8 groups of 8 players. Players must face everyone else in their group. Players will advance based on W/L ratios. The top 2 players per group will advance to the Super 16. Playing all matches in this round would be beneficial, as the tie-breaker in the Super 16 is the performance in this round. The tie-breaker for this round is average win ratios of those a player has beaten, if ties still exist, sudden death matches. The OU tier for the tournament will be decided in this round. The approximate time allotted for this round will be 3 weeks to a month.

Super 16: The remaining 16 players will be randomized into groups of 4.

The groups will fight every member of another group once, i.e. if your group is paired with group B, you'll face every member of group B. We will use the same system of W/L ratios as round 1. Any ties in this round will be broken by average super 16 win ratios of those a player has beaten, if ties exist still, sudden death matches or the ratios from round 1 in the event said tie can't be broken with simple sudden death. The simpler methods will be used first, as opposed to the complicated methods. However, first round records will also be used to break more simple ties as well. 2 players from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. This round will be 2 weeks.

Quarterfinals: The 8 players will be randomized , and the matches will be best 2 of 3, consisting of UU, OU, and Uber tier matches. The UU tier is locked in here. This round will last 1 week. 4 players will advance.

Semi-finals: This round will be the same as the quarter-final. This will last 1 week.

Finale: The finale will be chosen by the finalists, but if they can't agree, then the finale will be the same as the semi and quarterfinals. This round will last 2 weeks.

Basic Battle Rules:
  • Species Clause
  • Uber Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Evasion Clause
  • OHKO Clause
  • Soul Dew Clause during the Ou matches.
  • BL Clause, all BL pokemon are banned during UU matches.
  • (F)Arceus is banned.

"All 64 players will be randomly divided into 4 groups of 16 players. Their opponents are nine different people in their group."

By this, do you mean we choose the nine people out of the 16 players in the group to battle?

If so, then it's going to create a big discord because some players wouldn't want to play the player that's challenging them because they want to take on the weakest of the players in the list. This is possibly going to give the biggest names in the list a hard time to complete their nine battles. Not only that, it's going to take a very long time. If you can see the logic there.
