SS LC Smokin' Tegridy

<<Smokin' Tegridy>>

Dedication to PyProd

Hey, welcome to my third RMT, What happened since this last RMT I got to do with the bro PyProd.. Well, the start of SWSH LC, and an...[Well hi Smogon, I'm here to present you the team named Tegridy Smoke, alongside with DarkAlex, which is a team I've built, but I told Alex he could put the RMT on his account, so let's begin!] Grrrr...

TEAMBUILDING-PROCESS:
PS: This is a build which was built by PyProd, thus, I'll let him cover the teambuilding part.

[Well, I'll tell you something. Since I've built the team, Alex and I both found pretty normal that I'd do this part. It's got quite some history, so without further ado let's begin.]

:Vulpix: :Cherubi: :Oddish:

[So it was all the way back to the beginning of the metagame, I, as the "ghost" user I was, was looking the messages on the LC Chatrooms, to see what might be good or nice to explore, without answering at all of course! Not a while thereafter, I learnt about the brokenness of the Double Sun team archetypes and decided I wanted to give it a try. The core is, as a result, pretty self-explanatory and would be the basis of the team, with Vulpix and its sun-inducing abilities to support the breakers Cherubi and Oddish, the former sporting notably Weather Ball making it a potent breaker, while the latter could just finish off teams as a rather decent breaker too. A scary core I may say.]

:Vulpix: :Cherubi: :Oddish: :Vullaby: :Onix: :Trapinch:

[And I decided to round up the aforementioned sun core pretty standardly, with the Vulla as a defogger and a nice glue to have, the Sturdy BJ Onix with Endure to ensure rocks vs an opposing Trapinch lead, and my own 9 Speed double prio Trapinch to deal with Munchlax and Ferroseed better if Cherubi somehow didn't manage to break the latter, while being able to stop a sweep that'd get out of hand with Earthquake + Feint if the opposing mon wanted to setup on Pinch.]

[The team seemed pretty powerful and efficient, and, albeit looking like a standard sun team at a first glance, it had some quite cool techs such as the first Strength Sap Growth Oddish ever (yep, you might owe at least a part of it to me), because I found Strength Sap to be more efficient at giving setup opportunities and Sleep Powder is a move that just keeps missing, doesn't it. Pretty quickly, some happenings led to the Cherubi ban, which was the opportunity to revise the team, as I found Vulpix was broken, and as such wanted to build a really absurd sun team with Vulpix.]

:Vulpix: :Drifloon: :Oddish: :Vullaby: :Onix: :Trapinch:

[Having heard Drifloon could be pretty nice in sun teams, I wanted to use it myself, and I'd say I wasn't quite disappointed in it at all! It synergizes pretty well with the Munchlax-remover Trapinch, and gets advantage of common Vulpix switchins on which it can set Calm Minds and/or Substitutes (I've found myself especially abusing Mareanie). It thus helped my team still having two potent breakers while also having a way to beat Shellder if rocks are set on my side of the game (Jolly Shellder outspeeds Oddish (so does Impish because I'm unlucky so it wins ties)). Oh, yeah, forgot to mention it wasn't Weather Ball Drifloon because anyways Pawn is beaten by Trapinch and Drifloon needs its other moves more.

So, having found my perfect team from my point of view, after further inspection, it was time for me to now revise the sets. I fixed the Vulpix set, giving it Weather Ball instead of Fire Blast (Weather Ball is indeed Vulpix's best STAB, not accounting for Overheat), and also, and especially, Hypnosis! Hypnosis could help find setup opportunities for both of my sweepers and could also make trapping threats far easier. There was a time in which I decided to give the Eviolite to Oddish, but I actually find Life Orb's damage output to be great, especially in cases when I wouldn't manage to setup! I also fixed Onix's set because I was running Body Press for no reason.]

:Vulpix: :Drifloon: :Oddish: :Vullaby: :dwebble: :Trapinch:

[Upon even further inspection of the team, I could always find a way to improve it, and this time, it would be by changing the setter! Dwebble indeed has some tricks upon its sleeve Onix can only dream of. While sporting the same Sturdy BJ combination as its rock snake counterpart, it also displays an useful move in Counter, which can help against a setup'd Pokémon that could get out of hand, or to remove on turn one the defogger or the trapper lead. It also gives Knock support to further help the team's destructive power, and all of this at the cost of no Endure, and a team a little bit shakier at checking Vullaby. I decided to make the webs matchup a bit less rough with Heat Wave Vullaby, hich, under sun, would be able to defog on an incoming Pawniard and KO it afterwards, and decided to give the Trapinch a Choice Band to ensure a Munchlax KO after a Curse, which was the main problem in getting rid of it.

IN-DEPTH TEAM SETS ANALYSIS:

[Now I'm keeping the mic, Alex, I won't let you do my sun core babies..] Uh.. What?

Burning sunshine (Vulpix) @ Heat Rock Ability: Drought
Level: 5 EVs: 52 HP / 196 SpA / 236 Spe Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Energy Ball
- Weather Ball
- Overheat
- Hypnosis

[First and foremost, the most important mon of the team, the most useful and powerful Fire-type of the tier (at least until Ponyta comes, even if Vulpix still has its assets over Ponyta), the sun-inducer of the team to support the breakers it is paired with, the bright sunrise of the team, to end it all with a sunshine, Vulpix! This little boy, thanks to the bread-and-butter Heat Rock set, gives us not less than 8 valuable Sun turns, to help Oddish sweeping easily. Weather Ball is Vulpix's best STAB: it normally is a Normal-type 50 BP move which seems lame as a first glance, but this weather-dependant attack actually takes the Fire-type and doubles its Base Power under Vulpix's sun, so, as Vulpix can set the sun up thanks to Drought each times it comes in, Weather Ball is a totally efficient and reliable Fire STAB, with perfect accuracy to top it all, unlike the stronger Fire Blast which can only top an Accuracy of 85%. And it's all the stronger as, since Sun's presence can strengthen the power of Fire-type moves, this effect also applies to Weather Ball! Energy Ball just helps Vulpix hit some bulky Waters in itself, as well as bulky grounds. This move, at a first glance, thus strengthens Vulpix's offensive coverage, but actually, it's a move that often let me wanting it to do more damage. Now, for the interesting things, we first have the powerful 90% Accuracy Fire-type move Overheat, which, under the Sun, hits like a truck driving at 161.557mph (which makes 260km per hour, just like Overheat's power under the Sun). With a little chip, this move actually can OHKO some bulky behemoths such as standard Trapinch or Vullaby, and it generally hits anything that doesn't resist it quite hard. Thus, Vulpix often makes switchins such as Mareanie or Munchlax often come in in order to tank its attacks. The last move particularly is for them. I have paradoxically found that Hypnosis might reach the foe's Pokémon more often than Oddish's Sleep Powder. It particularly is a nice move as Oddish or Drifloon can setup on the then asleep Pokémon, or Trapinch can invalidate it without much collateral damage at all! It can also invalidate one of the opponent's sun-checks if they are not careful, as well as simply just incapacitate the mon in front of you that would have KOed otherwise. Vulpix is a pretty nice Sun support that is mandatory to Sun teams' success, and this set particularly aims at giving the breakers the most setup opportunities it can give them.]

touchin da child (Drifloon) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Unburden
Level: 5
EVs: 84 Def / 196 SpA / 4 SpD / 196 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Calm Mind

Firstly, Thunderbolt can hit a lot of pokemon such as Rufflet, Vullaby, Frillish, Shellder or Mareanie, Corphish, and Wingull, can hit neutrally Pawniard. Secondly, Substitute is a good core with Unburden and also Berry Juice, With Unburden, Drifloon have more saied abs with Berry Juice, je can restore HPs. Thirdly, Shadow hall is a great stab move and do a excellent core with Calm Mind, Indeed, Shadow Ball becole more powerful with Calm Mind and Srifloon van be more defensive with this.

NUTRIENT !! (Cherubi) @ Eviolite
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: 5
EVs: 76 Def / 180 SpA / 12 SpD / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Solar Beam
- Weather Ball
- Growth
- Protect

[Cherubi. A Sun sweeper so strong it eventually got banned. This was at the time the principal sun sweeper of this team, with Oddish only being secondary, and rounded up the Sun core really well! This Eviolite set could get off Growths to boost itself quite easily, while obliterating little to anything thanks to a combiantion of two strong moves with little to perfect coverage: Solar Beam and Weather Ball. The former was a really spammable and strong STAB, which could take out a large portion of the tier, while the latter neutrally hit resists such as Vullaby, or even super effectively, which was the case with Pawniard and Ferroseed. Protect helped not getting revenge killed by First Impression Trapinch, as it was one of the only ways for a standard team to beat it if it couldn't take a hit, which was pretty common.]

Burning sunset (Oddish) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: 5
EVs: 240 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 HP / 0 Atk
- Solar Beam
- Sludge Bomb
- Growth
- Strength Sap

[Taking back the mike for this one again! Oddish is the only decent Sun abuser left, and God is it good. If you've read the Teambuilding, you may know that I in fact am the precusrsor of GrowthSap Oddish. I didn't really like using Sleep Powder Oddish because it would bring Ferroseed in and suck up my sun turns, and it's a move that just keeps missing all day, so I wanted to focus on getting the most of the setup opportunities Vulpix could give me, while also being the strongest it could be, with Growth and Life Orb. Thus, GrowthSap was born! Oddish just does sweeping shit, and the damage output of both STAB moves is actually astounding! Solar Beam koes most of the Pokémon, even OHKOing resists such as Drifloon, which wouldn't be KOed by Sludge Bomb or Giga Drain, and while it's more sun dependant that Giga Drain, which sucks sometimes, as this Oddish is pretty reliant on Sun being active, this isn't that much of a problem to me. Sludge Bomb further bolsters Oddish's breaking power, as it helps Oddish break Pokémon such as Vullabies (I've always found Moonblast on Oddish dumb, as +2 Sludge Bomb KOed anyway). Oddish in itself also is a nice Timburr-check, Water-check, and often brings Ferroseed in for Trapinch to remove it, especially since the opponents fear Sleep Powder. Oh, Oddish is also another name for cannabis but don't do drugs kids.

chick mama (Vullaby) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Weak Armor
Level: 5
EVs: 36 HP / 240 Atk / 80 SpA / 116 Spe Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Knock Off
- Defog
- Heat Wave

[Vullaby does what Vullabies do. It's a good glue that takes advantage of its access to Knock Off to support the breakers, while also being kind of one too, gives more speed control to the team, thanks to Weak Armor, which can be nice to revenge kill some things too, and it can also Defog! Vullaby's set is pretty self-explanatory: Brave Bird is a strong Flying STAB that hits anything that doesn't resist it pretty hard, and Knock Off is a Dark STAB that hits said resists nautrally and can cripple opposing Pokémon's tanking abilities by removing their Eviolite. The set originally had U-Turn to function as a pivot, but I found my web matchup to be pretty hard, so I decided to go with Defog + Heat Wave Vullaby. The plan is to Defog the Sticky Web asap, and if on Pawniard's face, to KO it afterwards with a Sun-boosted Heat Wave. Vullaby checks a bit anything, even if it's a one-time check, the exception being Onix, pretty rough for Vullaby (and overall this team) to deal with, but manageable, should you play well. It especially checks annoying Psychic-types such as Ponyta, knocks Mareanie off if Drifloon doesn't abuse of it, and is overall never useless on a team!

big nix (Onix) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Endure / Dragon Dance
- Stealth Rock

Firstly, Earthquake is a great ground move which couple very well with Dragon Dance and is a star move, that chip Ferroseed which block Onix. Earthquake damage some pokemon and with Dragon Dance, this is a power move which can do some damage to Trapinch with Earthquake. Secondly, Rock Blast is a good stab move too and can kill Weak Armor Vull which can do some damage of the team, for exemple to Drifloon and Oddish. Thirdly, Endure can be seul for use a turn and with Sturdy + Berry Juice, that more useful to play Endure, but if tou want to do really some damage, use Dragon Dance is great move, specially specially with Earthquake as I already say that. Finally, Stealth Rock is the last move because Onix is a great Entry Hasard setter.

Sprite_557_XY.png

Dwebble @ Berry Juice / Red Card
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Knock Off
- Counter

[Dwebble, even if less effective than Onix to ensure rocks on the opposing side, still has its things over Onix. It can Knock things off to help Oddish sweep, can deal with Drifloon just fine, and can use Counter if Munchlax gets unmanageable with Curses up. Thus, it might be worth a try over Onix. Berry Juice almost ensures the "Three Lives of Sturdy", while Red Card can make an annoying Pokémon switch out and pairs well with Sturdy too.]

Band._Choix.png

Turtwig (Trapinch) @ Eviolite / Choice Band
Ability: Arena Trap
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
Happiness: 160
EVs: 196 Atk / 76 Def / 76 SpD / 116 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Superpower
- First Impression
- Rock Tomb / Feint

Firstly, Earthquake is a great STAB'd move hits pretty hard. Secondly, Superpower is a powerful move that aims to outright supress some Pokemon such as Ferroseed and Munchlax which make life hard for the team, and it's all the more efficient as this Trapinch is EV'd to hit the 9 Speed benchmark, letting it outspeed the aforementioned mons. Thirdly, First Impression is a great priority move but can only hit once.. It's still a pretty useful revenge killing tool, as it is rather powerful! And lastly, you can choose between Rock Tomb, which is a very good choice to hit Vullaby without letting it get a too threatening Speed Boost and Drifloon to slow it down and make Unburden less threatening, or Feint if you want double priorities and a priority that can get through Protect and can K.O some pokemon if they have very little HP left. For instance, it helps stopping Swords Dancing mons that would want to setup on Pinch's face, but Feint doesn't synergize well with the Choice Band.

The Eviolite gives Trapinch some utility bulk to trap things, while the Choice Band helps it fire strong Superpowers and First Impressions. For instance, Banded Superpower actually OHKOes Ferroseed from full, and can more easily dispatch Curse Munchlax than Eviolite Trapinch. The Choice Band locks it into one move, though, so beware, as this can be taken advantage of by some smart players.

HISTORY OF MY LC CARRER:
The whole story begins with a beginning, so I start my story with the beginning. All started in 2016 - 2017 when I was in a very good server which was named Pokeland, I really loved that server, and I still do now. In this server, I met the fabulous user whose name is PyProd, he was like me, but better. Both our Birthdays are on February 22, but not only. We were born in the same year, our name starts with the same letter, we have lots of common points. Meeting him really changed my life.

PyProd is everything for me, one day, he told me about a format which was named is Little Cup. At the time, I used to play OU and a little Ubers, so PyProd teached me LC, even when he was not very good in this format, so I kept training in this format, and I really loved playing that tier. Thus, I afterwards gave up on OU and Ubers.

After many battles, I began to grow stronger. PyProd really helped me in a lot of moments. I remember when we were a good core. I searched for some funny pokemon / set to use, and he made the teams. For me, we were the French F i l l e and Jox. I was French F i l l e. One of the good ideas I had was to build around Treecko. At first, I built the team, and it was just a bit good. So I sent the team to PyProd and he revised it, and it thus looked better. We had the idea to make a RMT about it, that was the first RMT I've ever written in English. So he helped me to write this.

Before that, I met the LC Community and joined the LC Discord which I left a few days later because I was timid. After that I joined LPL, because I found it useful to learn the LC Metagame, and I was less timid, so I stayed there. I met some people, PyProd told me about a user named Fille. We became friends shortly after we first met. He help me just like he helped PyProd about teambuilding. After that, PyProd in LPL 1, was picked in Scrubs, managed by Taranteeeno. Taranteeeno helped me so much to be integrated in the LC Community. He was the first member who called me "DarkAloat" and I really love that. I remember when I won my first roomtour.

I won 6 roomtours after that. We quickly became friends too. After he called me "DarkAloat", a lot of people of the LC Community began to call me "DarkAloat" too. I was called "DarkAloat" but I was not at all as good as Luthier in USM LC. Teeeno really complimented me a lot of times, he looked like a uncle to me ^^. After that I met a lot of people with whom I am currently friends there: Ram, Kaif, Wail, EnzoLapras, JCBC and Serene.

After, one of my best memories was being a helper for Oxford Talonflames, thank you JCBC to have picked me when you were the manager and Taranteeeno for recommending me. I was a good helper and there I built a friendship relation with Midnight Howl, I was here for him when he wanted to test a team. We reached Semi-Finals, that was a really good moment.

I remember when I was in my uncle's house, no Taranteeeno's house of course.... ^^ I was online in LPL, and suddenly Serene promotes me to voice... I was really surprised, I didn't think I could be voiced in LC Communities such as LC, LPL or MDL.... Thanks again to Serene and Teeenoat :D. That proves I have my place in the LC Community, that was a really good day for me. After, I got RoomVoiced in LPL when LPL got a room on Pokemon Showdown.

Next, I have lots of new friends such as Kipkluif, Shrug and Bouki who gave me some help, that was very good to speak with them, I began a friendship relation with Altariel Von Sweep and Levi. That's very extraordinary to have some friends, some people with whom can speak about some things.

Next, with Bouki, a team, that's the moment when my <<Solid Shit>> (nice name PyProd) was born. In the first version there was Mienfoo and not Timburr. My solid shit was really good, I sent some replays to prove the quality of team. I did shoutouts for my friends and LC Community and I was friends with Luthier too. That was amazing for me to be friends with Luthier. He was a GOAT in Gen 7 LC. That was unbelieveable for me.

One of my best memories too was being the Nicest User of LPL3, that was a very good moment for me, and that proved I was in the best community ever. Nicest User is a really good rank, that unbelieveable for me too, I didn't play LPL3 but I got the Nicest User. My uncle gave me this because I deserved it. Thank you very much Taranteeeno :DDD. After that, my new friends were Coconut, Ampha, Shrug, Luthier and BabyBoyBlues.

After that, I was hyped by Gen 8, but in fact, I was sad because that was the end of my power in gen 7, the gen in which I was the most strong, I was so good that I can never be better right now.... At the beginning of Gen 8 LC, Luthier told me I was his Tutee, I couldn't believe that too.... But Gen 8 disappointed me in playing LC, Gen 7 was very good for me.... So I chose to stop my carrer as a Little Cup player. That was very cool, I really loved that, thanks to everyone to be here for me.... But before I wanted to end my carrer, LPL 4 opened their signups, so I thought LPL4, if I was picked, would be my last tournament. And I was be picked in Mocc 1 of LPL4 by BabyBoyBlues, thank you BBB :DD. After that, with my new name Altik, I did Mocc 2 and this was a good mocc :). Altik was been invented by friendd but with Altik I did wrong things. So I found it better for me to go back to DarkAleX55. In real auctions Luthier tried to say "Can Simeone pick DarkAleX55" and Shrug picked me even if that was Trash who bought me. LPL4 will be my last tournament, After LPL4, I will really stop LC, and this RMT is my last contribution in Pokemon...
